Solution may be in broad based basic K-12 education. Not making kids to learn Arabic. First try teaching them their mother languages. We are largest chunk of non Arab Muslims and we know the basic tenets of the tradition. If someone wants to pursue scholarship in the tradition then they can learn Arabic. The religious divide between brahmein and Dalit sects. On top Hindu non Hindu divide woman assault minorities abuse are causing ethnic divide. Plus in India there are so many separatist movements from Kashmir to punjabis to maoists to Nagaland are just to name a few. Moreover, one of the main reasons that the state of Pakistan has been facing a prolonged domestic turmoil is the use and abuse of religion which allowed scoundrels, charlatans, opportunists, and extremists of all stripes to exploit the people and to control the state. The state of Pakistan could have flourished had it stayed away from religion. Unfortunately, once the political leadership, both military and civilian, decided to use religion for political goals, the country went downhill and never recovered. In view of the negative experiences of the past, it would be better for the people of Pakistan if the Pakistani state embraces and popularizes modern, liberal, and secular values. If not, then we will continue moving on the present downward trajectory, and things will be getting worse, not better.

There can never be a basic consensus on values. Every religion, family, and individual has different ideas for what their morality is. Atheist just simply mean not believing in & mainly it’s for not believing in any Religious gods. 10k religion came and went & these few remaining Will not be here for long. Both India and Pakistan have British legacies.One thing that Nehru did was land reforms and establishment of universities. Unfortunately that did not happen in Pakistan as Jinnah died shortly after partition. Feudals are directly and indirectly in control in Pakistan to this day. Unlike in India, military has been in power off and on in Pakistan which has led to weak democratic institutions. Sadly Modi tried to involve Indian military in politics but ALLEGEDLY it has suffered a setback for now with the demise of Gen.Rawat. No doubt Pakistan has serious economic problems but for now we don't see the kind of abject poverty in Pakistan as we see in India. Both countries need to improve the living conditions of their citizens. Pakistan has its issues with extremism but over the last 10 years Pak army has cleaned up most of these elements. The sad incident of the Sri Lankan is heart breaking and majority of the Pakistanis , including TLP has condemned it . Still there is lot that needs to be done including some changes in the law. Every Islamic scholar or an imam of the mosque should first go and do a formal degree in Islamic studies, Qur'an, ahadeeths. You have Madinah University in Saudi Arabia, and Princess Nourah University also in Saudi Arabia. Those who want to go into religious fields should have to go through a university degree/formal education. Otherwise, you get illiterate people given the authority to advise the citizens of the country, and illiterate people standing up for election to lead the country in Islam, science and technology. You have illiterate people lecturing the youth every week, and then you wonder why is the youth not interested in education, science and technology, and have high moral values. So perhaps make a scheme or law or regulation where people have to go through formal Islamic education bachelor degree, masters, PhD to become an imam/mufti/sheikh/ustaad. And this should be both for women and men. Pakistan should give out some scholarship for Pakistanis to go and acquire masters and PhD in Madinah University, and Princess Nourah University, in Islamic studies. This is how you will build a strong intellectual society.
Formal Islamic degrees here are basic and layman level at best, as for Madinah University and others, they are at best on the same level or below what Pakistan's Dars e Nizami is, formal degree in Islamic Studies is also just a ruse, real authentic learning is reached when you truly strive for knowledge and end up becoming students of great shuyookh or study in remote areas like Muritania, also Madinah University is a salafist trashcan, in comparison to that Al Azhar University in Egypt is a place where not only the minority Salafism is taught, but also all other sects of the Ummah are taught to students, also if your understanding of formal degree is that the person should speak English, well I am sorry to report that just doesn't happen, even the Western revert brothers end up travelling abroad to learn the Deen, barebone basics are simply an internet search away.

Let's talk about Islamophobia, phobia means an irrational fear, after seeing what happened in Sialkot, the fear of Islam is only rational. Fear/hate of Islam should not be confused with fear/hate of Muslims.
Solution may be in broad based basic K-12 education. Not making kids to learn Arabic. First try teaching them their mother languages. We are largest chunk of non Arab Muslims and we know the basic tenets of the tradition. If someone wants to pursue scholarship in the tradition then they can learn Arabic. I think Islam has the capacity to transcend culture and languages and able to fix the aakhira with which most Pakistanis are obsessed.

Moreover, one of the main reasons that the state of Pakistan has been facing a prolonged domestic turmoil is the use and abuse of religion which allowed scoundrels, charlatans, opportunists, and extremists of all stripes to exploit the people and to control the state. It won't because unlike Saudia Pakistan is not a majority Ahle Hadeeth/Salafi population, Sufism is the majority in this country and it's moral values are pretty much the same as any other sect, except we won't be bombing Dargahs/Mazarat like what would happen if Wahabism is promoted here which has slowly been happeining in this society through wahabis like Mirza Jehlumi and Youth Club/Zakir Naik etc who are slowly poisoning the youth's mind with confusion and pretending that Sufis promote firqa bandi which is itself a problem introduced in the subcontinet by the British with the injection of Wahabism and Qadiyanism in India.

Both India and Pakistan have British legacies.One thing that Nehru did was land reforms and establishment of universities. Unfortunately that did not happen in Pakistan as Jinnah died shortly after partition. Feudals are directly and indirectly in control in Pakistan to this day.
Unlike in India, military has been in power off and on in Pakistan which has led to weak democratic institutions. Sadly Modi tried to involve Indian military in politics but ALLEGEDLY it has suffered a setback for now with the demise of Gen.Rawat.
No doubt Pakistan has serious economic problems but for now we don't see the kind of abject poverty in Pakistan as we see in India. Both countries need to improve the living conditions of their citizens.
Pakistan has its issues with extremism but over the last 10 years Pak army has cleaned up most of these elements. The sad incident of the Sri Lankan is heart breaking and majority of the Pakistanis , including TLP has condemned it . Still there is lot that needs to be done including some changes in the law.
At the same time it is concerning to see Modi has been promoting BJP/RSS(murderers of Gandhi) and Hindutava agenda in India. He has given these terrorist organizations a free hand to carry out vigilante justice which not only include suppression of human and religious rights of the minorities but open lynching on the streets!

No clear mandate of this authority. You can't have an authority working on vague, abstract policies because then there's no quantitative way to hold them accountable.
It's pretty clear. It's a non executive authority. They will guide the government and people about modern problems faced by us
Every Islamic scholar or an imam of the mosque should first go and do a formal degree in Islamic studies, Qur'an, ahadeeths. You have Madinah University in Saudi Arabia, and Princess Nourah University also in Saudi Arabia. Those who want to go into religious fields should have to go through a university degree/formal education. Otherwise, you get illiterate people given the authority to advise the citizens of the country, and illiterate people standing up for election to lead the country in Islam, science and technology. You have illiterate people lecturing the youth every week, and then you wonder why is the youth not interested in education, science and technology, and have high moral values.
So perhaps make a scheme or law or regulation where people have to go through formal Islamic education bachelor degree, masters, PhD to become an imam/mufti/sheikh/ustaad. And this should be both for women and men.
Pakistan should give out some scholarship for Pakistanis to go and acquire masters and PhD in Madinah University, and Princess Nourah University, in Islamic studies. This is how you will build a strong intellectual society.
Formal Islamic degrees here are basic and layman level at best, as for Madinah University and others, they are at best on the same level or below what Pakistan's Dars e Nizami is, formal degree in Islamic Studies is also just a ruse, real authentic learning is reached when you truly strive for knowledge and end up becoming students of great shuyookh or study in remote areas like Muritania, also Madinah University is a salafist trashcan, in comparison to that Al Azhar University in Egypt is a place where not only the minority Salafism is taught, but also all other sects of the Ummah are taught to students, also if your understanding of formal degree is that the person should speak English, well I am sorry to report that just doesn't happen, even the Western revert brothers end up travelling abroad to learn the Deen, barebone basics are simply an internet search away.
Also Salafism is a minority thing, Madinah Uni is strictly against the majority Ashari/Maturidi creed that most of the ummah follows, because to them doing taqleed is Haram and Asharis/Maturidis are Ahl e Biddah and engage in Kufr, plus no thanks, I'd rather not study under people who call me Kafir for doing Istighasa and sending Salawat on Nabi SAW's Roz e Mubarak, Bulldozed the graves of the Sahaba, destroyed Hazrat e Amina's house which was protected from the times of Khulafa e Rashideen to the times of the Sultanat e Usmania, want to destroy Gunbad e Khazra because it's "biddah" and aren't doing it due to international pressure, banned certain Urdu translations of the Quran because they aren't direct copy and paste google translations and have thought put into them etc etc. Also get real, you don't get to give out Fatwas unless you are a Mufti and get Ijazah from your Shaykh in any part of the world, no "illiterate" person ever gets to be a Mufti
