If I remember correctly GOMAD was originally suggested for teens who weren't actually tacking macros and micros properly and it was meant to be a catch all for what they missed in starting strength by mark. I mean its definitely a solid suggestion for back then when there wasn't a plethora of online forums telling younger kids how to eat and train like nowadays.

Fun video! About 20 years ago in my early 20s I went from 160 to 215 doing GOMAD for a year as part of a bulking diet. Bench press max went from 225 to 355 in that time. Skim milk is a pretty good source of protein without the fat of whole. The sugar is still an issue. I found that my weight was inconsistent from day to day based on how much fluid and waste was in my body. You can lose a pound or two just going to the bathroom. The best way to accurately measure weight is to do it first thing in the morning after going 1 and 2. Also, those electronic body fat scales read lower when your well hydrated and higher when you're dehydrated. In all likelihood, your body fat readings dropped because you were better hydrated after drinking all that milk.

It usually happens in that age range you mentioned and also lots of people confuse their growth spurts with the “special techniques” that they implement. Most of the time the truth is, calories are calories, it is easy to get the calories in through milk, but at the end of the day, there is nothing special about milk per say. It's actually my favorite beverage to have with steak or spaghetti , even when I eat out . But I was born in the midwest where it's more common so now that i'm on the west coast I am certainly an outlier . Milk does has a weird way of altering your taste for it. When I was little I guzzled the stuff down, easily a couple gallons a week by myself. One day I just kind of stopped, I’m not really sure why. Now I can’t drink a straight glass of milk anymore, I don’t really like the taste of it all that much. Some part of me definitely knew about the sedative effects though, I used to have trouble sleeping as a kid and my go to was to get up and have a bowl of cereal with milk. Always put me right to sleep, but it created really bad habits for later on lol. Still have trouble with eating late at night.

as someone who is lactose intolerant, i can say that the gas is most likely simply because your stomach is not used to the excessive amount of sugar (lactose) that a gallon of milk contains and it's most likely just too much to break down without the additional lactaze enzyme. If you were lactose intolerant you would know it for certain after only one glass of milk. Most lactose intolerants can stand like a few pieces of milk chocolate at most. This is the easiest to test if you can find lactose free milk and see if that changes the symptoms that the milk causes

When I am leaner ( around 10 to 11 percent) it seems to be harder to maintain and if I let it i will quickly go back to the set point around 185 or so. I generally eat carnivore with some fruit around workout times... Which I need when I am leaner. When I am heavier I am good with full on carnivore.

Your craving it because milk has short-chain opioid peptides that literally creates addiction. In cheese these compounds are even more concentrated, and that is one of the reasons that many people can't stop consuming it. Milk also increases IGF-1 significantly and that can be good and bad. In terms of hypertrophy is potentially good, it stimulates the growth of both fat tissue and muscles, but it's also been linked to various forms and growths of cancers so yeah....In general, this went pretty much as I expected it to go. Regarding the Bioimpedance machine...don't worry too much about the actual number, worry about the consistency of said number. Even if the machine adds 5% to your total body fat, it dosn't really matter if it does that consistently. All you need to care is the difference between your starting BF% and your end BF% and if the machine is consistent that value will also be consistent.
