Artorias’s story is really sad to be honest he was an actual hero unlike most who just gave up in the series
And paid for it
the lesson to be learned from abysswalker/artorias, no matter who you are your name will be forgotten to the annals of history but if your deed is righteous your deed is immortal even if people think the wrong person did it
Artorias' whole story is actually a lie.
His legend is fake and all he did was fail again and again and again.
He was supposed to kill Manus but it was us who kills Manus and instead he got consumed by the abyss.
His story is a tragedy turned into a legend.
TLDR Artorias failed
@@Shura31412 His whole story isn't a lie just the ending. He fought into the abyss and fought Manus he just lost and was consumed by the abyss or at least had begun to be consumed so when we get their its to late for him. I think artorias probably could've killed Manus but I always assumed he broke his arm protecting Sif and left his shield to go fight Manus

It gets even more blurrier when you realise that Artorias is the only main boss who doesnt give you a humanity upon defeating him
Artorias is so powerful that the game itself couldn't even handle him
Imagine Artorias coming back from the abyss to protect Sif from you. Now that would be an epic fight.

in the last moment in the fight to protect sif in the last hit
Then if you saved sif in the abyss before fighting him he'd appear at the start
Imagine him using his both arms
The fact that artorias lost control in one arm and continued to fight really shows how much of a badass he was
He was dedicated to stop the Abyss, but I obsession to stop it is what killed him internally. He wouldn't stop until either it killed him, or he killed it. But in the end, it was a foolish decision. For he realized he wouldn't be able to stop it but did his best even without his left arm. He had a reason to fight. For his love, for Sif, for Gwyn, for the hope of humanity. But he just wasn't strong enough.
Adding on to it, Artorias was left handed, so loosing function in that arm made him have to relearn alot.
@@moparker971 Even those who are left handed, they fight right handed since the majority of knight's were right handed. Try parrying a righty when you're a lefty. It wouldn't work. Try fighting a righty when you're a lefty. It's significantly much harder
@@moparker971 given artorias has a larger shoulder pauldrin on his left shoulder indicating a shield bearing arm and he has a shield used in other games its implied his arm was shatter taking a blow against his shield that was meant for Sif.

This is an incredible remix. You turned a tragic sounding song into a song that feels like having a duel to the death with a close friend. Well done
Something that represents sadness now represnts the anger of someone who failed their quest, and the anger drives them to stop those who might eventually fail like he did and those before him.
And that close friend did something really unforgivable, like, theoretically, killing your entire band
Artorias's dominate arm isn't even his right, it's his left. So that means he was fighting you with his shield arm. Total badass.
This game is six years old now. I just started playing it a few months ago, and it's nice to know content is still being made about it. That said, awesome dual mix!
And that's a testament to the game's quality. Even after all this time, it's lost none of it's appeal.

I like to imagine a fight between Artorias and Ornstein (In the Lore)
I think Artorias is a bit slower than Ornstein and since Ornstein is used to taking on much bigger and stronger opponents I think he would have a serious advantage.

Plus he can dodge really well
So I guess it's kind of a even matchup
And the abyss greatsword deals more damage than the dragonslayer spear (well in their boss fight variations it's still the same case because ornstein is scaled for mid game while Artorias is scaled for end game level difficulty)

The Abyss Watchers themselves were ostensibly fanboys of Artorias. You could even call them LARPers of Artorias, since they too succumbed to the Abyss, but in a different way.
I want to see a mod that lets you put any kind of song you want for a boss fight because I would put this in for Artorias fight

But the abysswatchers would be forced to kill him? Remember that the abysswatchers' job is to kill anyone or anything that has been taken over by the abyss.

It would be an entirely emotional fight for the watchers. As much as I love Artorias, the Abyss watchers (if sane) are just to much for him. Not just by numbers but they possibly surpass his skill level by a good bit too.
That would be cool like a third phase of abyss watchers they all form a ghostly image of artorias as a finally to his legacy
