      There is nothing not to like. We absolutely need a stadium period. We play on neutral site. Ppl can say whatever they want but the fact is we need our own stadium. Seems to me that even a billionaire understands this as well and is trying to make it happen!!!

    Love it contingent upon them solving potential traffic congestion problems and parking issues. Hope it's feasible to create those 16 k underground spaces. Yes definitely needs a retractable roof. This project will also need to look at revenue enhancement for the county so should include shopping, restaurants, and a convention hotel.

    I still feel they should give the tropical park location to the marlins if* they don't sale the team, and give the canes the original o.b site and renovate it into a college stadium, its only right because it should've never been turned in to a baseball ghost town,

    A lot of Miami residents are not in favor of this stadium due to tropical park being a major park here in the city and the increase of already bad traffic on bird road and Miller (not to mention the jam that would ensure right there on the expressway).

  • @EeCeenCeeBee
    @EeCeenCeeBee 2 роки тому +4

    Coop, I live on the corner of 82 Ave to the left... I definitely plan to sell parking spots and I imagine a lot of my neighbors would do the same. Also, there is a solid bus route on the north and south side of the park (Bird Road 40th & Miller 56th). Traffic would be a nightmare anytime Santas was in town it was rough also for fourth of July they had a firework show and had to close down nearby roads to deal with traffic.

    Great location, but both Miller Drive and Bird Road are parking lots when there's an event in Tropical park....I think students will be shuttled in since is fairly close to campus...but could be a nightmare for non-students.

  • @Wanzysworld
    @Wanzysworld 2 роки тому

    As for traffic. Some said the recent 4th of July fireworks show was a nightmare getting out of the park. But if it’s coordinated correctly, fans can exit Miller Drive side and can drive East to get on the North or Southbound 826 , they can do the same exiting Bird Road. Fans like myself who live Downsouth can use either exit. But I noticed that shelters that are used for party rentals will be gone which is fine with me Lol. But like I mentioned it will be a lot of convincing and money to persuade the county to go along with any purposed plan.

    Coop - First time I went by Tropical park was around 1967 - they had horse racing there - Over the years I have driven by the place but never went there. I think it is a great location for sporting events for the U, and also could be a venue for other gatherings(concerts ect) - The location is not bad with multiple connections of expressways very close by. I think if you can include other UM sports it would be a big hit locally and could be a first class football venue for the Miami Hurricanes for some years to come. Its also close to Miami Internationtional airport which visitors could use to come to for games and afford plenty of hotels and highschool practice facilities for visiting teams. Overall it would be a good option for the Canes. It definitely would draw a lot of folks all around the stadium.

    Great video! If you ever need an interesting parallel for Miami, take a look at UCLA. People were VERY resistant about their leaving the shared L.A. Coliseum (with USC + NFL) for the Rose Bowl, and Terry Donahue quickly changed his mind and called it the most important day in the history of UCLA football. Miami would benefit TREMENDOUSLY from this nearby stadium!

Miami native stuck in memphis but was lucky enough to spend my childhood at the orange bowl watching Jimmy J’s canes.. all sounds great, but I’m meh on the roof.. i prefer the idea of bringing visiting teams into deep waters in south Florida…. hot, humid, with pop up down pours, which I think is the best aspect of hard rock, exposed field while the stands are covered, I think that’s the best home field advantage

    This is a Natural site, the ' greenery' you mentioned are mostly Australian pine trees, yuk!!! There are plenty of areas to designate parking, the creme de la creme solution would be golf cart service to transport fans to the stadium gates. The surrounding area will probably need to be elevated for the possibly low area in the event of torrential rains, which happen often. It's not unusual for rains to reach up to 1, or even 2 inches per hour, which would create flooding. As far as lake tailgating goes, that fits in nicely with the Ruiz family's ownership of Cigaret boats ,which could be rented or otherwise be utilized in some form to create a truly unique fan experience.

    • @dianarodriguez9783
      @dianarodriguez9783 Рік тому

      Cigarette boat not going far in these lakes. If elevate this area where does the overflow go? To the million dollar plus homes across the way? You all aren’t looking past park to see what is around on the west side. Homes a quiet neighborhood with expensive homes may not want the mayhem of large stadium to add to already bad traffic on bird road and Miller drive.

  • @Dogsandwolves123

    I live near this park and I think this is a horrible idea. Tropical park is a major park in Miami that many residents enjoy including myself. That park is always full with people walking around the lakes, cycling through, and even the dog park is always full. There are not many places like this in Miami and destroying one of the few is going to impact the community in a negative way. On top of everything the traffic would become horrendous and completely backed up. I am completely against this idea!! I think they should find somewhere else to do the stadium or work out a new contract with someone else.

  • @traintrak
    @traintrak 11 місяців тому

    10:24 Traffic is pretty bad during rush hour going westbound on Bird Road. Just to give you an idea, when Santa's Enchanted Forest used to be at Tropical Park, Bird Road would be stuck with bumper-to-bumper traffic both ways. Similarly with the COVID testing as well. And worst of all, there is pretty much no mass transportation in this area, so most people will be coming in cars to watch the games. As much as I like the idea of a new stadium, I don't think Tropical Park should be where it is built. (This is a personal preference, but I kinda like Tropical Park the way it is.)

Architect can draw whatever he wants but an engineer needs to core sample and decide. To me this is crazy and no one mentions the large homes around park facing the huge stadium how will this affect their enjoyment and peace living in front of a 65k sest stadium with 16k parking? Maybe the palacial homeowners will want to pay for security to avoid overflow parking and people just arriving to hang out, outside the stadium.

      There is no river here two enclosed lakes. No way to get boats in unless dropped in and small boats Bc lakes look larger than they are. I live across from park. This is a logistic nightmare.

    Canes fan living in Hokie country, and all I hear here is that Miami doesn't even having their own stadium. Of course my reply is holding up the 5 fingers for the National Championships that our Canes have. I think it is a great idea, The U needs their own stadium and I think this plan will ROCK.

    Born and raised a Miami Hurricane fan. This is something that I’m 100% behind. Also as a Miami resident and native this location is perfect prime time central location. It’s right off of the palmetto so should be easy to access and not far from campus. If your a Miami Hurricane fan and love our community this is something to get behind!

    16k parking spots will get sold out super quick. I think the way around it is to park on campus which should have plenty of spots on a Saturday. Take the bus from campus and hopefully the buses drop you right at the gate.

    How far is it gonna be from the university? Cus that is something I heard about hard rock being too far from the school and a lot of the students don’t want to travel that hour or few hours to the games,the closer to the school the better,it gives it that college atmosphere wish is hands down way better than the pros

    The Original Orange Bowl was U Shaped. So not entirely unexpected.
    As for parking being "Underneath" the stadium, then they would have
    to build the stadium Up above ground level. You can't exactly build
    down, because in Florida, digging down, you hit water.

    PRO: Much closer to campus than either sun life or ob
    CON: as noted, traffic will be terrible it is already terrible in that area. Parking is a problem. Metro rail would be ideal solution as it provides transportation from campus and many parking garages. It would be worth considering developing one of the lots at dadeland mall to another garage. Also trolleys from AD Barnes park could add more parking and tailgating area.
    PRO: costs might reasonably be publically financed, many schools use the football stadium as home field.
    CON: not sure if local residents will sign off on everything stadium bring.
    Botton line, i want to see this happen

    My very first opinion would be for the Miami Hurricanes stadium to be more centrally located. Move Marlins Stadium to Tropical Park. Use marlins stadium as UM stadium. UM fans are centrally located, not just way down south.
    All the recruits are north of University of Miami, not south. How will recruits get to games if the stadium is 1 hour away??? 🤔
