    BRAVO!BRAVISSIMO!!!
    VIVA LA VALDES!!!
What I see here is a new Viengsay VALDES. There is a joy of life in her dancing even adding new features in a Pas she's danced probably 100 times, there's less work and more relaxed approach and all THIS is quite simple because I have seen these STAR ballerina changes before. It's NOT a new coach, it's MARRIAGE!! The first was Makarova and specially after she had her son. The FOUETTE was her nemesis and stamina in Black Swan, NOT after her marriage, She once told me in her dressing room when her #1fan a Cuban named Ramon invited me to visit her after a SL at the MET, that she could dance it AGAIN after a shower and fresh make-up! The second I witnessed was Cynthia Gregory in her second marriage and after giving birth to her son, she danced with such abandon and joy it ALWAYS got her standing ovations at the METROPOLITAN and most always after a BLACK Swan Pas usually with FERNANDO BUJONES. Now, it's Viengsay VALDES, having fun, relaxed, in command and not breaking a sweat. I'm predicting her balances will become even longer after she has a baby so she will add another 4 minutes to each Pas'. That's what a happy married Ballerina does.

      Masha. S THANK YOU MASHA!!
Ballet has been my passion since Alicia Alonso brought to my hometown in CUBA her company to teach and let the Cubans in rural areas of the Island know what ballet was, explaining the history of the art form and her place in it. I remember the performance took place on the piazza of the town cathedral on a built stage, thousands came and were mesmerized by it, Alicia herself did not dance but I remember her rippling swan arms, and passion for the craft of ballet, also she was so charming while strictly professorial. While Castro was busy destroying families, ALICIA was busy creating a legacy, and both succeeded. I have met Alonso and spoken to her, she is an enchantress and very, VERY funny, also I was lucky to work on a Broadway bound musical by a dear personal friend of hers DONALD SADDLER and I told her about it. She has a long list of bitter enemies on whose calluses and egos she stepped on as They forget it was Alicia Alonso who gave them the chance to be a ballet dancer in the famed schools. Free by the way. Throughout history of the ballet, the directors have been GREAT while being EVIL and complex. Ninette DE Valois, you think SHE was an angel? Or Lucia Chase?
Of the MEN, take your pick. Whatever Alonso did, we really don't know, what we do know is that:
WITHOUT ALICIA ALONSO, THERE WOULD BE NO BALLET IN CUBA.
Gracias ALICIA, you are appreciated, loved and respected even if not by everyone, you're not alone, live to 200yrs, you earned it.

Viengsay is not as refined as... let's say Maximova. But her ability to control her limbs is quite astounding!
