There are people that would boo their own mother's or the greatest human beings in the history of the world such as Mother Theresa. They just hate everything and are poor miserable souls with not an ounce of goodness in their character. Some people have such unrealistically high expectations of good free videos, they nit-pick every perceived flaw. It doesn't really matter what other people think but it's whatever you like that's important. However, if you make videos for a living then it is important. Antonio generally gets greater than 99% likes so he is doing exceptionally well. He is bright, articulate and has a great command of chess analysis. I'm a fan of his videos and commentary.

Morphy was amazing -- a self-taught American who came out of obscurity to beat all the top players in Europe (where the highest standard of chess was back then) by putting a lot more attention on pushing the pawns. Anderssen was the reigning world champion, but Morphy beat him 7-2 (with two draws). The next truly home-grown American after him was not until Bobby Fischer. (Capablanca was a Cuban, even though it was merely a province of the US in his time.)

    • @manu-ox4fe
      @manu-ox4fe 5 років тому +3

Cuba was a satelite of the USA. A province recive benefits. The gringos sucked the well from Cuba and gave nothing back except
protection to the ruling class. Our history has been one of submission to imperialists countries. Remember the Soviet Union.

You might want to check your records regarding the Worlds highest chess standards back then. Due to the suppressive Colonial Powers of that era you can only surmise this statement. As this Game hailed from the middle East somewhere over thousands of years ago , you can only speculate that Europe had the best players. Recent history has taught me that as the Eastern Nations was the cradle of all western education, I'm very confident that greater chess players existed at the time but were not in a position to compete. All the same Morphy was a very good player , the best? We will never know for sure. Today's multimedia channels makes it very easy for the Greatest Minds to be exposed to the World. Back then only the wealthy excelled in exposing their talents.

Hi, OK I am getting old and my memory is not what it used to be. Morphy is the reason we now use clocks. Playing a match he opened with e4 and the response was d4. He played Nf3 and waited. and waited. The shadows moved across the wall and still he waited. Being very polite he held back as long as he could before finally asking "Excuse me are you going to move?" His opponent who was lost in a daze came too and asked "Is it my move?" And he then required clocks be used in future matches.

"After the match, Anderson said he wasn't really in shape, but okay, Morphy wasn't in shape either, he was drained by LiChess..."
LiChess in 1858?!?!! --- what, did they use the telegraph?!? That WOULD be quite draining. Especially since the first Trans-Atlantic telegraph cable was shorted out that year, just one month after it was completed (which took 4 years!). The next transatlantic cable was finished 7 years later.....
    Can you imagine(?):
    "Waiting for opponent to Move...."
    ..... 7 years later...
    .......knight G to F3....
... "Okay, Now what do you do here..."

    Very nice to meet you!
I am trying to set up a low to medium level chess gatherings, in a public big chess board in Amsterdam. (1053 post code for anyone interested).
Some of the bases of your analysis and some of the positions that you show are very good examples of particular pieces of theory.
I am recommending your channel (as well others of course) to the people that are involved in our small chess club (nothing on profit just me enjoying the game and teaching some youngsters). I hope you will be getting some views from Holland.
    Thank you.
    Salute to the dog!

I copy-pasted the notation in the description into Scid and Black has an extra pawn at d5? In the video, it's not there. Haven't inspected it thoroughly, though, still in cursory mode.

There is a typo in the notation in the description, move 1 move 1

I can see why fisher loved morphy can see a lot of morphy in fishers play crazy moves that are so amazing making his opponent do something they don't want to do lol morphy was fisher before fisher lol

@agadmator at 4:22 you show the move Bxd5+, but at the description of the moves in the game under the video after Nxf6+ and d5 you've written the move Qh5+. If Qh5+ black is actually winning :) ...

  • @specialkalberta

There seems to be a mistake in the description's PGN moves. At 4:24 you say white's move is 14. Bxd5+ but in the description it says ... I was going to say white's move is 14. Qh5+ because that's what the chess.com analysis board says it is after loading the description's PGN. But actually move 14 is missing in the description and Qh5+ is move 15 in the description (and apparently chess.com's analysis board doesn't flag missing moves, it just renumbers them when loading a PGN file with missing moves) as you go from move 13 to move 15 in the description. The description also says move 12 is 12. Bc4 12 Nd4 (note the second 12 after Bc4). I think the correct PGN should say:
    1. e4 1 c5 2. d4 cd4 3. Nf3 Nc6 4. Nd4 e6 5. Nb5 d6 6. Bf4 6 e5 7. Be3 f5 8. N1c3 8 f4 9. Nd5 fe3 10. Nbc7 Kf7 11. Qf3 Nf6 12. Bc4 Nd4 13. Nf6 d5 14. Bxd5 Kg6 15. Qh5 Kf6 16. fe3 Nc2 17. Ke2
(BTW If you load the PGN with move 14 omitted like in the description, white loses according to the chess.com analysis board if you choose play against the computer (even if playing the best moves suggested for white). If you play against the computer as white with my version of the PGN above using the suggested moves for white, it takes quite a while but you eventually win as white.

    There was a mistake.
Queen captures at d5 and the queen on d5 is captured by knight, opened a discovered check so white queen could not be captured by black knight.
