Kane and Foden basically played midfield in the first half and Englands midfield still got beat, I would say Trents biggest strength is his diagonal long ball, there is nobody for him to pass to except Saka. Then by some miracle England score and then decide to set up a low block. Second half, takes off Trent then brings on actual runners who make runs into the box. Southgate doesnt have a tactical bone in his body and it shows.
Basically the tactical play under Southgate is awful.
I don't know what was the training but either awful training model or awful preparation.
From what i've watch Denmark's player were not better than England players technically but it is all of England players seems lacking the understanding of the play and England playing like a 5th tier team without any fixed tactical play.
i said before the first game even started to play trent instead of trippier, trippier has literally offered fuck all and has been terrible for newcastle for 6 months. at least then trent can play the diag to saka and play inverted then that allows gordon on the left, foden to move central and play bellingham deeper

Rory is pure emotion/codswollop. Grealish over Bowen… we moan big clubs get favouritism… Grealish did not do bits at all this season and Bowen was miles better than him. Just because Southgate is shit doesn’t mean the players taken are.

Problem is, Jude is also unbelievable in the 10. But it clearly hasn’t been working so I don’t see why not make it this midfield.
Foden isn’t a 10 though, his skillset fits a 10 but a 10 has to have that maverick mindset of pure confidence, Foden wouldn’t say boo to a mouse
Foden has played less than 25 percent of his games at no.10 for City with 13 off the left, 9 in the middle and 23 off the right.
Why are we obsessed with shoe Horning the best players into doomed systems. Foden or Bellingham are benched simples and the team plays as a unit.

It is usually down to manager that players can become like that. In my 20 years of watching football i have never seen 11 players played at the lowest level, it used to be only 1 or 2 player that will underperforming but all 11 players? Umm.. 🤔
The real problem is the manager and it should be either the preparation is wrong or the manager teamtalk is awful.

Everyone was cheering on Jose for redefining Kane into a player who dropped into midfield and hold up the ball and be a playmaker for Spurs. Now in England, he keeps doing that, he’s competing with the midfielders to do their job

Hugh is so good until he starts talking about arsenal. Saying Jude and Saka are same level is delusional. Jude has won a treble with multiple CL appearances. Saka has played 1 season in CL and won 0 trophies.

Street football is a huge part of English football? I can't tell!!! Seriously, I'm from South Africa and our national team may not be great, but we have very skillful players and that's largely down to street football. Brazil, street football is huge there, they're the most skillful nation ever probably... English players lack skill, they always have. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe, even if street football is huge in England, it's not very good because it doesn't translate to their players having beautiful skill.
About the captain leading by the scruff of the neck...i believe we do need more of that. Kane is a consummate professional but lives life like hea constantly on a xanax binge with a cant be arsed demeanor. No inspiration. We do need someone who demands more...someone who's won trophies tbh. Walker gives me that vibe, and hes got the experience
No balance, no structure, no game plan, lines miles apart from each other. Without the basics in place, it doesn't matter who's on the pitch.

Jude plays with two guys who get properly occupy the wide positions. Saka plays with a centre forward that generally gets forward and a left winger that is fairly (or very) pacey and makes run into the box at the far post.
We need to play Gordon. Eze is pointless, his playing the same as Foden. He wants to drift inside. Trips isn't really any good at providing the width either because his right footed.
We also need to actually fucking press, because we literally haven't been the whole tournament and I don't think theres a good team in existance that doesn't press. If Harry can't do that, then we have to drop him. Theres no point playing him on the counter either, because he can't fucking run.
So yeah. Watkins or Toney upfront. Gordon on the left. You either drop Foden, or play him at 10 with Bellingham at 8. Bellingham likes to be on the left anyway, where as Foden wants to be on the right, so it should work.

Saka got less non-pen goals and assists than Anthony Gordon last season and Gordon won 6 pens. So by Hugh’s logic if Gordon repeats the season he had this season again he’s also in the same class as Bellingham…

Kane has to be dropped he barely moves, barely held the ball and his movement in the box was awful
He got the ball once in the box and it ended up in the back of the net. The assist came from a double deflection.
Opposition defences sit so much higher when kane is playing, results in next to no space for our midfield to opperate, you saw their defence drop miles deeper when Watkins came on and started threatening in behind

England got so lucky that some of those Hojberg outside the box shots didn’t take a weird deflection. Danes were dominant.

Change the system to 4 3 3 drop Foden, TAA and bring in Gordon for width and Mainoo for control alongside Bellingham.

People in England still dont understand, these players that you put up on pedastools are they really that good or do they look good when they are surrounded by players who elevate them. Is Foden world class or does he look good when he is surrounded by KDB, Bernardo Silva, Rodri,Doku and the rest of the City team. Kane did well at Spurs never won anything or turned up in big games at Bayern he wins golden boot because he has Sane, Musiala, Gnabry handing him chances every week
I think there are really only 2 players in that team who can stand on their own and its Walker and Bellingham. The rest are fluffers surrounded by better foreign players in the Prem every week and we see how shit they really are every 2 years at these tournaments.

Foden was literally England's biggest attacking threat as soon as he shifted centrally... Its not rocket science, the lad has been shining all season playing IN THAT POSITION.

Kane was awful as a number 9, too deep. Trippier and Foden down the left doesn't work. Bellingham needs to be at number 8

I like Gallagher, but you use him to break up attacks, wheres the control. Wharton, Mainoo they are like Bellingham in the fact they can take a ball with 3 players running at them and find a pass round the corner. At no point when we lose control in a game do we regain it. The players panic, pass it back to Pickford who lumps it long to no one, because Kanes on the edge of our box. Stones, Rice, these are players we know can take the ball and turn, their not, because the players round them are installing fear. Fine if you start Foden in the 10, Jude at 8 and Rice at 6. But we need to get Gordon on, we need Shaw back. Trippier has done ok, but all the danger is coming from that side because teams are targeting the player out of his natural position. And we need to be more proactive. The team that starts should be Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Shaw, Rice, Bellingham, Foden, Sake, Kane, Gordon. The team that ends the match should be Pickford, Trent, Stones, Guehi, Shaw, Mainoo or Wharton, Rice, Bellingham, Palmer, Watkins, Eze
