  • Join us as we take you on a tour around Wellington, visiting the top-rated and must-see attractions in the capital of New Zealand.
    1. Our first stop is at Zealandia, Wellington’s wildlife sanctuary. It’s only a 15-minute-drive from the capital and totally worth checking out! It was such an amazing place that we created a full video on our experience and will be releasing it soon.
    2. The ever-bustling Cuba Street! People said this was Wellington’s most loved, most colorful, most exciting street full of quirky vintage shops, busy cafés, and incredible street art, and rightly so. Also, getting splashed by the “Bucket Fountain” on Cuba Street and trying a classic Kiwi dessert called Lamingtons are essential experiences here.
    3. Another place you don’t want to miss when visiting this capital is the Te Papa Museum. This interactive preserver of New Zealand history features six levels, hundreds of permanent and temporary exhibitions and it’s completely free of charge. You’ll need at least a day to explore this treasure. • Te Papa - New Zealand...
    4. Now that we are time traveling, our next stop is the Wellington Museum for a quick history lesson of this amazing city.
    5. Join us for a walk at the Wellington waterfront where we enjoyed the sunny weather and discovered the Writers Walk full of New Zealand’s best authors’ quotes, a community piano, and the famous “Solace of the Wind” statue. It made us realize that Wellington is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill type of capital. Chantal also tried another “Down Under” staple - the Flat White. For those of you who are wondering what that might be, it’s New Zealand and Australia’s most famous coffee drink.
    6. Moving away from the marina, we continued on to the Supreme Court and visited the Beehive - seat of New Zealand’s Parliament. We actually took a tour around the Beehive and ended up surprised by how much fun it was!
    7. A drive to Lower Hutt to discover the peaceful beaches and a beautiful sunset is a must while in town!
    8. We returned to the Parliament for a live session with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern present. Such a cool experience!
    9. We took a cable car ride! At the top we explored the Wellington Botanic Gardens, visited an old-style perfume shop and discovered Wellington’s astronomical observatory sundial.
    10. Next on our must-see list was the Weta Workshop. It’s a special effects and prop company that works on Hollywood blockbusters like “The Lord of the Rings”, “Avatar”, “Hobbit” and many others. Look out for an upcoming video on our full experience here soon as well.
    11. Talking about movies, we had a totally different experience at the vintage Roxy Movie Theater which felt like stepping back in time.
    12. We finished with an escape room at Escape Masters! So much thrill and anticipation as we were trying to find our way out, and we did it with 6 minutes to go!
If you have any other suggestions for places to see and visit in Wellington, please drop us a comment. Enjoy the video!!!

Great vids totally love it. Just want to let you know four cities are in the Wellington region. Wellington City, Lower Hutt City, Upper Hutt City and Porirua City . They are all with in a 45 minute max car drive to each other . If you get the chance head over the hill and visit the Waiarapa and try some of the wines from the local vineyards. FYI Wellington is the windest city in the world hence its nickname Windy Wellington.

Have just watched your video of your visit to Picton and followed on with the Cook Strait crossing to Wellington. Have just watched the first of your Wellington vids and I have to say , being a Wellingtonian since 1972, I am amazed at the amount of walking you do. I used to do that when I was a 20+ year old. It's a lovely city and it has many nooks and crannies and many other sides to it. It is actually a very large area. You certainly nailed the weather on your visit.
I never intended to stay here, but 50 years later I'm still here .. that's got to say something for the place.
I love the personal aspects you give freely, it helps to remind me why I belong here.
You have given me something special ... a sense of place .. thank you so much for sharing.
Enjoy your safe travels and love to you and your family.

Great video!! Entertaining and relaxing😊😊😊 Well, in India situation has improved a lot. Cases has decreased a lot. But the problem is that the 3rd wave will arrive around September in which children are also vulnerable to this killer virus. I am also a kid (13yrs) so I am also scared. I hope that kids will also get vaccinated in the future. Let's hope for the best. Stay Positive and Have a great day❤

After the previous video, I was thinking that Wellington might be a great place to live with the homes elevated above the harbor and the great views. Learning about the fault line and chance of a big earth quake in the future, I changed my mind. I think I will visit and take lots of pictures, but not risk that maybe the waterfront will change once again. Great video as usual.

    Hi there.
I always try to visit Zealandia at Kaka feeding time. You can get quite close.
Cuba St has only taken on the Latin theme in recent years. The Bucket Fountain dates from 1969 when a section of the street was pedestrianized. Elisha Wood was not impressed with it. You can google that.
The rock you can see is the biggest Island of Island Bay. The fishing boats are a remnant of the mostly Italians who settled there. (I am corrected below)
At 11:37 you pointed to the wrong hill. The drone footage that follows is from the hill, left of screen, where the larger tuft of cloud is. They both have communication masts. On the drone shot the place you are pointing from can be located a quarter of the way across from the left edge. You are by the marina. There is a large black block of a building nearer the center of the drone view which passes behind the statue's head in the next footage.
At 12:06 is one of the worlds last floating cranes.
You have to drink a Flat White in a porcelain cup. Nothing tastes good in paper except fish n' chips. At least with the lid off not sucked through a hole.
Quay is pronounced 'key'. At 15:16 you can see the Beehive against the hill. Easy to miss. If you look on a map you'll notice almost every street running parallel to Lampton Quay is also a quay because each in turn was a wooden quay where ships tied up. After the earthquake created shallows they filled it in one quay at a time.
So Lower Hutt didn't have a lot to offer. I'm from LH but I live in Chch. Some nice bush walks and a river cycle trail. The Eastern Bays are great, I miss them. There are very nice bush walks on the hills. You can also hire a bike at the end of the road and cycle out to the light houses and a wetland. People should look for regional park maps or google Wellington regional trails. Along the ridge is good and the walk to Butterfly Creek. The climb up - not so much.
The private funicular rails have keys and or passwords so people can't joyride.
You cut the shot at 23:28 just as you were approaching the much admired house of an architect.
The cable cars back before they changed about 1981 had seats outside along the middle section - and no belts. Much more fun as a kid.
Miramar is Spanish. Mira = look/see, mar = sea/ocean, which is exactly what you do.
I'm going up to see my mum in the near future. It's good to see things you know through the eyes of others. Quite a nice place, I can't wait now. Thanks.

Hi, can you tell ( if you know) why the vaccination rate is so low in NZ? Do people feal safe in think covid will never come back to NZ and country will be closed forever?

    • @ocatty1798

Our vaccination programme is underway in NZ and in 4 stages - the 4th stage is the rest of NZ, and that happens from the end of July onwards.

Who told you the vaccination rate was low, I would love to know your source? NZ is taking a measured safe 4 stage approach to vaccination's which has resulted in more Kiwi's vaccinated per capita then Australian's. The main population will start getting their injections from July onwards.

Sorry! NOTHING to offer in Lower Hutt! Lower Hutt has a hecknof a lot to offer. You managed to offend an entire city with that comment. Lower Hutt is known for its great walks & cycle tracks. Our river is the heart of our city! Coming up is The Festival of Lights. In summer, we have loads of fairs, outdoor concerts, sports events. The walk up wainuiomata hill is amazing! The view spectacular! And stopping to look at the lego wall which is done by a local artist. I feel you didn't even take time to get to know the Hutt Valley or even ask the locals what there is to do.

You’re right. We just did a drive by without stopping that day. Since our visit, we’ve actually have been many times now to Lower Hutt and met dear friends there. We still haven’t fully discovered it yet though.
