    Stereo guitar is where it's at. Jamming to my headphones had become one of my favorites things to do with the UAX pedal.

    Steve Rothery has been using one for decades as well.
    I bought the plugin version when the price was hacked to bits on it from over 200 to just over 60 quid. Very very useful

    I will admit that one of my favorite delay effects is the ducking variety. The Isley Brothers (probably among others) used that sound quite a bit in the 70s and 80s, but that was done in the studio, manually, I think. Some of my current modellers have ducking delay algorithms; one disappointment in my newest modeller is that it DOESN'T have a ducking delay. t.c. electronic really started something back in the day, eh?

    Whilst Gilmour did indeed use a 2290, the delay on the Wish You Were Here album was likely produced with a Binson Echorec. And the intro to Shine on You Crazy Diamond was likely an MXR Phase 90 into a Leslie cabinet.

    You’re absolutely right, Captain: profiling SUCKS!!!😂😂😂 I bought this pedal blindly, just because I had an original rack unit, back in 1990, sold some months later to pay the rent (that day I cried very much!) and I’ve followed really closely the genesis of 2290P. I’m a huge fan of TC and I totally love this one, I’ve immediately take off the old Flasback Triple from my main pedalboard and inserted this one tout de suite!!!!❤ love ya guys!

    Whatever you throw at Pete, he will always sound good... because it's the fingers. (Which doesn't mean that I don't have a 2290p on my board by now, after selling my beloved 2290 to an actual dentist many years ago.)

    I went stereo a long time ago with a Peavey Classic 50/50 head + 2 cabs and also a Peavey Classic Chorus 212. I have Blackstars now because, stereo. The ID260TVP is a beast of a combo and sounds absolutely massive. The little ID Core amps sound WAY bigger than they are. I also have a Spark 40. Again, stereo with a big, full, wide sound. I just can't get that in mono.

    didn’t really understand this product.. why not buy a Valetron GP200 for roughly the same price and get a much better interactive experience and more choices?
    Maybe I’m missing something???? Let me know.

    I'm still using a TC G-Force as my main FX unit. Channel L and R out being routed to two separate channels on my power amp, which drives two different cabs. Those cabs are spread out 4 ft. and the resulting stereo image is *audible bliss.* And all of that in just 1 rack unit. I wish they made a re-release of the 2290 the same way!

    This isn't TC Electonic's first 2290 (sort of) pedal. Their Nova Delay is a much simplified bare bones 2290 copy. Check out Shnobel's video comparing the original 2290 and the Nova delay. The Nova can do the main sounds really well. 🙂
    This new pedal looks like a much more capable beast, very interesting!

    The Boss DD-500 also does similar wonders with sound as the Tc Electronic 2290, but you have to set it properly because it has a very extensive menu, so it gives you a lot of possibilities in creating sound :). However, I admit that this new TC Electronic is very good 👍, and for a delay unit it produces a very good chorus, in the style of the 1980s.

    Robert Fripp was another major user in the ‘90s, he used the long delays for Soundscapes (Frippertronics v2) along with Eventide H9000 Harmonizers.

    I don’t know if the TC2290 is ubiquitous on U2’s The Joshua Tree album. He used the TC2290 more on the album prior, The Unforgettable Fire. The Edge used 2 Korg SDD3000 rack units from 1986 on. He’s kept the TC for songs like “Bad” and “Pride” to get as close to the original sound as possible. I know he used an EHX Memory Man as recently as 2000 for “Beautiful Day.” He’s hyper specific about his sound and he has a TC as part of his touring rig to this day, but I think they’re relegated to the songs circa 1983-1984.

    • @chipsnmydip
      @chipsnmydip 4 місяці тому

      You've got it reversed. He replaced the Memory Mans with SDD3000 around Under A Blood Red Sky, and all of The Unforgettable Fire and subsequent tour where SDD3000. The 2290 wasn't even available until 1986, and he started using it shortly after on the Joshua Tree. "Bad" and "Pride" are Korg, as most of the more anthemic songs. On the Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum 2290 was the most used delay, and seemed to be all the way to Pop.

    Would definitely like to see direct comparison to the Flashback in stereo. The Toneprint editor is feature rich and I would imagine that most if not all of the same settings are in there. Same goes for Plethora. The real question is the sound quality. How does THAT hold up?!?!

    As an owner of this and the recent Boss digital dual delay, for my purposes, the 2290 pedal blows the Boss out of the water. Sooo much easier to use, fabulous wide stereo image. It’s pretty big, but it was worth the space and replaced the Boss unit. It’s the one i’m keeping. ✌️😌🎸

  • @macsarcule
    @macsarcule 9 місяців тому

    The “what would Gilmour do” question, I think based on his rigs over the years, he’d constantly look for innovation as long as it served the song. If he thought modeling served the song, he’d do it. I don’t think he has allegiance to gear.

    I just want to put it out there that you don't need two of the same amps for a stereo rig. If you put something like a Vox, with its laid back transient response on one side, and something tighter on the other, it will sound bigger.

    Stereo is for headphones, home, and your car. Your live audience cant hear it at all, period.

    • @OtherTheDave
      @OtherTheDave 9 місяців тому +17

      Whether the audience can hear it depends entirely on how the PA is setup. If you’re recording the show, people later can hear stereo, and so can you in your IEMs.

    • @skeelgso
      @skeelgso 9 місяців тому +14

      Completely incorrect, you can ping pong the delay to each side of the PA, most modern digital PA’s if ran correctly are in stereo and should be run in stereo, with something like this to run in stereo you would need a stereo guitar rig of some sort and then pan the signals and from a live setting you will most definitely hear it
