What Typing 100 WPM Looks Like (QWERTY vs Dvorak)

- If you are struggling to break 100 WPM or just curious about what typing 100 WPM looks like, this video might help you. Hopefully it will help you recognize the pace you need to type in order to break this barrier.
This video also provides a comparison of QWERTY and Dvorak. The black keyboard on the bottom left shows what it looks like on QWERTY while the blue one shows what it looks like on Dvorak. I am typing on the Dvorak layout. I don't think that one is better than the other, but I do find the different patterns on the keyboards interesting. - Ігри
it looks like me but my "i got stuck on a random word and it's taking me 18 centuries to type it out" gets my wpm down to like 60 lol
same
Same, bro. Absolutely same
same and sometimes its a word that is spelt the american way or i miss a capital rip im just under 90wpm but i go down to 45 sometimes
I am currently working on accuracy, so I type really slow(somewhere 50wpm) trying not to make mustakes
@@shanewalsh1573 mustakes? Keep trying bro 😔👊
You know when you've reached a certain age when videos like this is what entertains you lmao. In a good way of course

Woah I think you just gave me a huge tip, I tend to be extremely aggressive when I type at about 90 to 110 WPM and the extra unnecessary movements slow my typing and accuracy down a lot, but keeping my hands as close to the keyboard might just fix the problem. Sure it'll take some time to get used to, but that'll help me a lot, thanks!
Edit: A year later, I can now consistently type at 160 wpm. Nice.
We're two completely different people. My accuracy and speed are inversely proportional. The problem with how I type is that my hands are too close to the keyboard which I always try to adjust to get my maximum speed. Please wish me luck, Your comment was 3 months ago so I am expecting you to be way faster now.
P.s I joined the 100 wpm avg only this month after 5 months of inconsistent practice
Dude I started to do the same and it worked :D
I totally agree with you on that one. I need to definitely not type as hard or as aggressively (weird hand movements across the keyboard), and I’m around 90 at this point.
Exactly what I was thinking
Hey! I had the exact same problem! I can finally get somewhat higher than 120 :D
I expected a lot more agression ngl. this is unintentional keyboard ASMR
i am glad you enjoyed it
Oh my gosh when I go that fast It feels really fast but you make it seem so slow
That's partially my typing style and dvorak, but also just a lot of slow practicing like that.
@@NoThisIsJohn Yeah, when you start slow and aim for 100 percent accuracy and then you finally get faster and faster (more practice), your fingers seem to be moving more efficiently, hence why it looks smooth and slow.
@@psun256 exactly
Is anyone else just mesmerized by how slow his fingers appear to be moving but how fast the letters appear in perspective
this is actually so helpful hahaha. I've been trying to get to 100 awpm but cant even get my speed beyond 85. I guess keeping my hands more still and less jumpy would be better!
Very nice! I find myself that when I have to go reach for the q or p keys, instead of using my pinky finger, I usually take my fingers off of form and end up using my ring finger for them and making my hand hover around it.
Yeah same :D
QWERTY is just all over the place lol
im like super fast cheetah with the 150 wpm but there's always a word i get stuck at, then i slowly get around 100 wpm :(
Same problem, but I'm slower than you. 120wpm to 70 :(
I can type faster when I'm writing my thoughts and not having to read from a screen
When i type is like, yooo im so fast 70 wpm, but then this guy looks like hi is in a depresion typing slowly
Hello friend! Great video. What kind of click mapping software do you use?
My average typing speed is just 60 wpm, now I want to improve it like you.. Thanks for the inspirational video..
hi what is your typing speed now
@3000iq mine is 70wpm
@3000iq hw much time did it take to reach from 70wpm to 100wpm
@@deserttv8970 what is your wpm now
dude...I can do ~60 wpm with one hand...
i hit my first 90+ wpm by not focusing on the speed, but focusing on accuracy of the word, maybe this mindset might change your perspective a bit
I'm at a pc nearly 9 hours a day ever day of the week yet struggle to get above 50 and sometimes get as low as 45. what the fuck.
It takes dedicated practice to get faster
...
Me :
Just got a pc
My wpm:
85
I just use my keyboard to play games, so when I try to type I only got 32 WPM, when I try touchtype I could barely reach 10wpm
That's me, except slower and way more accurate. In my 100 wpm types, my fingers are JUMPING!
You're so calm when you type.
I've started learning Workman for about 4 months and now I'm doing 80wpm but my average is 75, I was 120 on qwerty, hopefully I'll be able to reach that one more time using workman
can you do 100wpm with all the numbers and special keys turned on ? that would be a really interesting video.
I type at 130 and i try to correct something and it drops to 95wpm or if i don't correct then boom! Site tells me a messed up and wpm down to 70 lol
Damn, you made no mistake at all. I'm at 60 wpm with around 90% accuracy
I'm around 10 wpm on phone with morse code
@@kinarast I'm on 34.3 hz per minute on binary with around 60 degrees latency on my fingies
@@weeb69 damn, you're fast af
Wait, what does hz per minute mean?
Ah, 1 hz is 60 bpm
@@kinarast yeah my best is 5 inches a moon
@@weeb69 You just keep speaking in weird metaphors, not to be rude but, are you OK dude?
wow, Dvorak actually makes a lot of sense, it puts all of the vowels in a single line all on the left side so its, very efficient!
I just broke the 102+ barrier peaked 120 max speed with a 99% accuracy and I've never really practiced typing but i'm certain if i can do it anyone can a big tip especially while I was at the 90 wpm barrier is AGGRESSION you need it also get comfortable typing very aggressively because at this point of time you can no longer pace and go as slow as you want.
I peaked 124 with two fingers.
@@v.k5417 after the practice of how many months??
@@sonia_kapoor786 6 months
it's usually the longer words that feel like a bunch of jumbled up letters that slow me down, as well as when I don't hit space in time and accidently forget the last letter of a word.. frustrating. I was hitting 120+ wpm back in high school, my highest now is 114. :')
Hello guys, loved the video. I would like to know what to think about when you are typing or how to focus like when I type a word I start thinking about that word and where I have used it and I slow down. Any help would be great
You are on the right tracks, most important tips I would say is
1. don't ever run behind getting high wpm, just focus on ur typing and try to maintain >97℅ accuracy. Also don't get bothered if you feel u are stuck on a wpm, just keep practicing properly and the speed will come by itself
2. Maintain a good posture. This is really important since I've been experiencing neck and back pain from bad posture. Google up the correct posture for typing
Wow very nice
damn just look at that accuracy boiii🥵
HI! you are very great! can you please share the link of the page please.
I can type 80 wpm but I type with 4 fingers so if I type with more fingers can I reach 90 or possibly 100?
How do I turn on the live keystrokes and wpm counter in 10ff?
I actually type with mostly 4 fingers for the main part of the words I type on. But I still reach 110+ wpm, should really work on using all the fingers at once
thanks, this let me get a brand new pb. I was going as fast as I could, and getting an accuracy of like 96. but i took it slow, got a pb, and 100% accuracy. you should take it slow, and speed it up slowly. accuracy is more important than speed. if i went full speed and full accuracy i could get about 10 wpm higher, but i just cant. so take it slow, and practice getting it right, and then you will be able to go faster.
Indeed. And most people start whining about being stuck at a particular wpm for this exact reason. This is literally the only tip for learning typing lol people still ignore it
What website is that?
How did u show the keystrokes
I wsa never able to get past the 90wpm mark on qwerty.
Switch to dvorak 8 months ago and can now reach a consistent 110wpm with heights of 130wpm.
It took around 3 months to get to my qwerty speed.
Overall I would say it's my preferred keyboard layout. Learning it also helped me get rid of some bad habits that would hinder type speed.
The downside of dvorak is loosing the one-handed CTRL+C/V.
The one-handed dvorak way of copy paste is CTRL+Ins (copy) and Shift+Ins (paste).
That's interesting that you use ctrl ins / shift ins. I've never heard of that. Maybe my ins key is in the wrong place, but that'd be pretty annoying for me to do. tbh, ctrl i / ctrl . have never really caused me any problems
@@NoThisIsJohn on a full keyboard with numpad it's easier. No idea where insert would be on yours lol.
Also, which program did you use to show your key presses live?
I would like to rerecord my tying with that shown as well.
video of my typing a month ago -> ua-cam.com/video/luovCspmhk0/v-deo.html
@@jeremydelvalle5992 for me insert is right above my backspace so pretty far away. By ctrl i / ctrl ., i just mean that is the qwerty equivalent of what I press (so ctrl c / ctrl v in dvorak). I used a program called streamkb to display my keystrokes.
Really? Because I use qwerty and my speed is the same as yours.
my record on that website is 107 :), working on highering
I'm trying to use dvorak keyboard on windows 7 for vídeo to test It on nitro type on my start menu, but is dissapear if you want help me,then i can test it
On which website test was taken.?
Been typing my own way since years, rose up from 90WPM peak to 155WPM peak in 3 years
I feel out when I reached that
when I am on 10fastfingers. But my accurasy is what makes it go down to 80s-90s Sometimes I even struggle to get a typing test done without the 20 mistake thing... I am so bad
I write at 75 average on keybr, it looks like my typing but its really clean on the spaces and in a constant speed, how do you train those stuff
If you didn't know, he can't type at 200 wpm for this same test. Thats why he is able to make 100wpm look so easy and smooth. Also he is on Dvorak so his hands are gonna stay at the home row most of the time
how do u do that with a keyboard that small.
Can you help me use dvorak keyboard on windows 7
Amazing typing your very fast
wow typing on dvorak looks way more comfortable!
I enjoy Dvorak but both layouts have their benefits.
@@NoThisIsJohn but have you heard of a "chiclet" keyboard, it can help you go FASTER, that's right. *FASTER* because less travel distance on your keystrokes. smh Dvorak shills only using mechs nowadays not even real keyboards
I think so too :D , I am typing this using dvorak at around 25 wpm :P it takes a while to shake qwerty muscle memory after so many years lol :P
@@Bruhdooh mechanical keyboards were invented before chiclet keyboards soo........
Bruhdooh or maybe just program your switches so they are more sensitive
Awesome
practice practice practise practise.
i used to do 30 on average but then i got to know about touch typing and at starting i was at 7-8 wpm lol. in a few days worked my way upto 26 wpm. 100 wpm is a dream. hopefully one day.
Where are u at now?
Bruhh the highest I've reached is 91wpm and only did so because I can't type with more than 4 fingers
what is this type program
My guy had to slow himself down in the beginning lmao
I like how long his fingers are
92% of the time I use my Pointer fingers for the keys and I get around 72wpm should I change my fingering?
no, whatever works is good.
What is that keyboard
How many days u have coverd 100wpm
nothisisjohn how to uses dvorak? if you like it,then i will test if you don't like it,then i will use qwerty ok?
Hello guys I want to learn this trick where can I learn this
Where can i buy it
Honestly, this doesn't seem so fast, but I have gotten typing bursts of over 100 WPM two times.
John be like: This is my calm typing mode. I can go much faster >:)
what is that on screen keyboard software name?
streamkb
I'm 10 year old, and today i type (in monkeytype) over 108 wpm, i don't know am i still normal or not
what this website name?
I am stuck at 60's, unable to hit 70 wpm.
I literally type with my thumb and index fingers and amazingly I can still type 65 wpm? Is that normal or just luck? tbh I'm a 7th grader and I've had, like, three years of practice starting from 4th grade.
Well.. I too in 7th grade but I type at like 80-100 wpm with all my fingers lol and started taking typing seriously in 4th grade lol.
Good keyboard
your fingers tho 🔥
how did you display how much wpm you had, how much key strokes etc. on the website?
It is a tamper monkey script
ok

what software are you using to record your keyboard?

@@NoThisIsJohn thank you so much!
Doctor is always typing 100wpm
Almost there with 97
My average right now is 85-90wpm I really wanna get to 100wpm. Watching this I think I already can type 100wpm maybe even bursts of 105-110wpm but I can never keep the consistency. I ALWAYS mess up and it shoots me down a lot, I usually get the best scores when I slow down a bit and build up my speed but I can never get to 100 doing that, I have to get lucky to keep the consistency.
same here. i have been practicing really hard in quarantine and have improved from 80 to 90wpm. I think typing at 100% percent accuracy is more impressive and consistent. So i just train accuracy.
what program do you use to see your wpm while you are typing
It is a tampermonkey script :)

while watching this video it feels like im typing 2 times faster but still get only 80wpm
This is a lot more difficult than it looks
I finally got over 70 WPM! The road to 100 is not that far anymore.
Should I type with all 10 fingers? Or wait till I’m older? Because my hands aren’t like huge lmao. I’m type with my two middle fingers and average around like 60 mph. My highest is 75mph
The best QWERTY typists tend to use at least 5 fingers. No reason to wait and practice bad habits.
NoThisIsJohn yea true, I’m gonna work on it in school tomorrow.
i go up to 110 bpm using 3-4 fingers max
No mistakes...
That keyboard likes the way you touch it 😂I haven't been able to pick up much speed on dvorak yet to know how it feels but colemak is soo comfortable and makes qwerty look like shit lmao
im used to qwerty
Most people are
Why he is not pressing E by fingers
Wow i can't do that!
only reason im not switching to dworak is because when you need to use the computer somwehre else its fucking hard to switch back
Ok, showing my age… I once managed a dicta typing pool where minimum job requirement was 85 wpm. My top speed was 105. 🇨🇦
its not that hard on a "benchmark" but the problem is to type that fast just out of your head while thinking
I type at the same speed basically but I make too many mistakes so I end up at 72 WPM max. It's frustrating, I have learned to type in primary school, now it's 10 years later and I'm still not that fast. I know where all the letters are but I press them in the wrong order all the time. I feel like so many people are just very fast naturally and don't make mistakes just from typing normally. I wanna hit those 100 WPM but for me it's just a hard grind
Where are you at now?
@@Ril014 pretty much 100 :)
Is this an app or website?
And what's its name??
I got you it is ten fast fingers

When you type so fast that you have to slow down for sake of a video
i type 75 - 90 wpm so i dont see a big difference
I type 113 WPM with two fingers.
AZERTY when? ;)
I have reached 107 WPM
Meanwhile on my research paper “The”
i got it
I can type at 60-70 wpm while looking in a completely different direction than the keyboard, even thinking of other stuff. But because these tests require you to type their words I get 60-70 wpm results while looking at the keyboard. If it's not coming from my head it's not gonna be fast. Also, I once typed at well over 250 wpm, I was in a game and when the admin asked why I was afk I typed "hold on, I need to go to the bathroom brb" instantly. as in, 2 seconds tops. Anyway, I don't feel a need to prove shit to anybody, I was just gonna say I'm happy with my speed and you should be too, no matter what it is.
typing 9 common words is not wpm.
ok i can't tiype this fast if i tried
I can because I started taking it seriously and within a year I am at 101 wpm so if you start to take it seriously and practice your accuracy it is possible to get there.
Where can i buy that keybpard
Miroslava Janicijevic it’s ducky mini keyboard if i’m not wrong
It is an Anne Pro 2
