Do you remember the large garbage cans they would have on stage in the front of the stage they would light up for the audience right before they would do a fifteen-minute song? That took you on a trip to some great adventure park and back. Saw them from 1971 at the Filmore East to 1999 at ,"Jones Beach Theater", on the Atlantic Ocean, in New York and many, many in between. Peace

My Dad was in high school when the JGB came out with their album "Full House" and my Dad still has the album. Probably one of the greatest live albums ever put out, beside the Allman Brothers Band, Live at the Filmore. The JGB loved the City of Detroit and recorded FH there and another album live in Detroit. These guys should be in the Rock and Hall of Fame. I saw Peter Wolf a few years ago performing with Kid Rock. and he sounded and looked great....he still has the moves, even today. Voice is electric. RIP J. Geils.

Keep your eyes open, Peter was still touring a few years back with a solid backup band. Did quite a few J Geils tunes. Yes, he's slowed down, but still high energy and voice holding out well. J. Geils did a band concert in our small MA town a few years back for July 4th. Local pick up back band, and playing his jazz routes. Could post if interest is there.

All I can honestly tell you from this 60+ yr old man on this Late Great Date in 2019 is this: the opening footage( aged blurred black and white mind you) of this incarnation of *THE J GEILS BAND* , and in PARTICULAR, lead vocalist/frontman, *THE WOOFA GOOFA MOMMA TOOFA* ( MR. Peter Wolf), is THE BEST footage, and CLOSEST footage I have ever seen, that CAPTURES the raw excitement and fierce bursts of ENERGY, that Was the rock solid foundation that this GREAT GREAT Band was built on. The opening song( Ain't Nothing but a Houseparty) footage, is the Best I've ever seen to help( in a small small way) explain how raw, spontaneous, and EXCITING Peter Wolf actually was. This can only capture, in my humble opinion, only about 20 % of what it was like to be there, in person, having Peter Wolf right there in front of your face, like the Master Conductor/Choreographer that he was, in total Control of EVERYTHING that would be on the Menu that night. It's almost a shame that this is All we have anymore to help explain him to others. I am Grateful for this footage, very Grateful. Thanks be to whomever recorded this, and for openly sharing it with us. My grey memory cells have been stirred today!! May the memory of the *MIGHTY* J GEILS BAND, and the REAL Peter Wolf-- NEVER BE LOST or FORGOTTEN!! TY!!

In 1970, I saw the band play a small club ("The George," I think) on Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island. Their debut Atlantic album was about to be released. Of necessity, half the band stood on the floor and I was right up front of Wolf, five feet away, if that. I knew nothing about them but was stupefied by their sound, music and Wolf's antics. They played as if in front of 10,000 people. Instant fan. It took me a day to stop my eyes from bugging out.
I lived in the small town of North Brookfield, Massachusetts for 30 years, about a mile from Longview Farm recording studio, where this band's biggest commercial hits were recorded. A friend once told me she'd been in town's supermarket when Peter came 'round into her aisle.....THAT must have been a sight!
As for the R&R Hall of Fame......I don't get it either. But, likely, it's gotta have something to do with Jann Wenner.

On May 29, 1969, the theater reopened with its first rock show, with SRC as the headliner. Among those who would play for $3 to $5 a ticket were the Who, the Kinks, Yes, Fleetwood Mac, the Faces, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Captain Beefheart, Steppenwolf, King Crimson, James Gang, Rush, J. Geils Band and Joe Walsh. Among the locals, the MC5, the Stooges, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels and Bob Seger all took its stage. Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes recorded their live album “Survival of the Fittest” at the Eastown, and Joe Cocker began his “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour there.

I have got to agree with everyone else who mentioned this band and their not being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is ridiculous that they are'nt in there yet. They made great recordings and they were a tremendous live band. How do you go about getting a band this great at least considered for induction. I had the pleasure of seeing them at least several times. One of the best days in my youth was May 1st 1971 in Chapel Hill, N. C., Jubilee. On that day I saw J, Geils Band, Muddy Waters and The Allman Brothers Band (the original lineup). That was a really great day to say the least. I miss that decade of great music so much ( except for maybe disco). If the voters can induct Tupac Shakur, they can certainly consider the great J. Geils Band. Thank you, for making such great music.

Absolutely the best live band ever! 5th time for me was 2 years ago opening for Bob Seger????!! I went for these guys, and they blew Bob right off the stage! The great guys that they are really revved you up for Bob's set, but did Bob even thank them? NOooooo! I should have gone home and put on the records, 'cause Bob's part of the concert was like listening to a record, not at all a "live" experience like these guys give every time! (Don't get me wrong, I love my Bob Seger records) They do not disappoint ever! I've had a crush on Peter Wolf since "71! Bad boy personified! Met him at a party at the Renaissance 'Center in Detroit, in 79. Oh yeah, hold me down! Lucky Faye Dunaway, that's all I got to say! Will miss J. Giels! All the good guys are going! Hall of Fame for sure! The sound of this is amazing! Hard to believe it's from the 70's when most recorded live music sounded really baaaad! Like I said, not surprised, this is the greatest live band ever, ever EVER! I could play this every day, and never get tired of it. It is that good!

I give J Geils Band their due being one of the best live bands ever. Ever hear of Bruce Springsteen? Decades on and on still the best ever to hit the stage. Seger as a song writer was far above what J Geils Band could do. His voice was marvel. They are all great and happy all have been part of my life.
