Bro it actually drove me crazy I had to use 1x1 and 1x2 to make the 1x3 but then I ran out of 1x1 so I had to use smooth 1x1. Barely made it XD

I ABSOLUTELY love this tutorial and design. I will try and make my own updates to the design, but over all its a solid 8/10 for me

ive managed to get through about half of the video so far, which is already father than i thought id get
I’m missing a lot of the 2x3 so I had to use 2x2 and 1 x 2
It turned out good I will post the final result on my channel

On step 36 there’s this weird double sided wedge piece that I probably don’t have and I have spent 2 and a half hours finding pieces the build this, I really really want to build this gun, is there any other piece I can use as an alternative?
Yes, you can use a normal 1x2 inverted slope! Hope you enjoy ;)

I'll put it this way, there are no rubber bands. Its tough to make work

Completed the gun, looks great. But the slide keeps falling back when I hold it up and the mag sometimes slips out, is there a fix?
Adding friction will help both issues, taping the mag will work, and putting a rubberband on the slide will keep it forward

Hi! You probably won't see this because of how long ago this was posted, but if you do: For me the slide falls of sometimes when i pull it back. Any tips?
Place 1x3s below the slide so it wont fall

This is a really great base for my 1911! It really helped me get the shaping of the gun done and I even added a spring trigger + mag release! Thanks Jim!

The only sad part is I built the whole thing then realised it didn’t shoot😭
But still the mechanics were really cool and I love how you can pull the top back and forth just like in the movies! Mine was identical but a little colourful😂
I would only use it as for fun because if it actually shot it would probably have bad range

After 2 days and some "slight" modifications due to not having the right piece or colored piece, I've completed it. The trigger is a little fragile, but it works! Thank you, Jim.

Now to make it shoot real bullets-

Is there anything I can put instead of the inverted 1x3 slope at 2:23/ 4:46 and the 1x3 slope going both ways at 2:49
rupert u can try regular 1x3 bricks for 4:46 and I just used a 1x2 inverted slope for 2:49

I found out you could also put a 1x3 plate on top of a 1x2 plate on top of a 1x1 plate for 4:46 i think. And for 2:49 you can put a 1x2 jumper plate into the bottom of a 1x3 and then a 1x1 plate below the jumper.
Btw, is there a way to make the barrel hold on tighter, because mine keeps falling off.
U don’t reall need it you just just have no trigger guard

I built this thing 2 years ago, and I have just finished adding some additional touches of my own. I added smooth bricks to the top, improved the sites, changed the trigger, and fixed the mag. I cannot express how much I appreciate this video because without it I'd have never been able to make a semi-functional Colt M1911 out of legos. Mine is much more fragile though to be honest.
