STORYLINE:
Thousands of Iraq's Yazidis celebrated their New Year at the ancient Yazidi temple of Lalesh in northern Iraq on Tuesday evening.
The occasion is known as Charshamba Sur or Red Wednesday, but celebrations are held on the eve of the day.
It is a time to "to resolve feuds, make donations, and visit graves," said Mahwar Shemo, one of the Yazidis who celebrated the event.
The celebration marks the year 6773 on the Yazidi calendar.
It's also the anniversary of the creation of the planet and the day the Lalesh holy shrine, the religion's most important temple, was created, according to Yazidi religion.
The Yazidis believe that a supreme being created the world, but does not rule it.
Instead, his will is carried out by seven angels, chief among them is the Peacock Angel.
The tomb of Sheikh Adi, in the town of Lalesh north of Mosul, is a Yazidi shrine and pilgrimage site.
When they celebrate the holiday, Yazidis light up candle wicks at the site of the shrine.
The Yazidis have been the target of violence and purges over centuries, and have survived as a close-knit community that does not proselytize.
Islamic State group militants rampaged across their northern town of Sinjar in 2014, killing Yazidi men and abducting thousands of women and children.

Long Lost Ancient Vedic people.

Most of their practice is similar to Hinduism love you from India 🇮🇳
You are culture and hindu culture same I proud of you all god bless you all ❤❤
Tamil God Murugan 💪🏽🙏
Same like Hinduism,🙏
this sounds (huluhulu ) that they're making is called hula-huli , we Hindus in odisha and Bengal use it during rituala is exactly the same that they are using...
It’s not the same thing, the sound the women are doing has nothing to do with Yazidism or any other religion. This is a practice that all Middle Eastern ethnic groups and nationalities make when they’re happy. So it has nothing to do with Indians or Hindusim it’s just a cultural tradition done in the Middle East which is far from the Indian subcontinent.
@@Marsel-ov6yg3im5c please give me evidence of the above claim from atleast 2-3 different geographical location and traditions ...
And if possible than provide some point of reference from any research scholar..

This is Assyrian (Non Arab ethnicity and nation in the Middle East, adhered to Christianity) engagement song begins with the same sound.
I wasn’t gonna reply back to you, but I did because I don’t wanna make you think you’re right. This has nothing to do with Hinduism or even the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East is a rich region full of different backgrounds but we’re all similar.
