Metroxical New York explores the collective soul of humanity in the New York City subways through a poetic narrative about live subway music.
Creating an intense impact on subway travelers, the New York City Subway musicians momentarily interjects a balance in their otherwise alienated and mundane routines. Subterranean amateur artists find themselves as live musical therapists whose sessions add color to their black and white thoughts. For the New York subway artists, bands and musicians, their music means life. For the subway passengers, it is a transitory phase. The beauty is in the connection between the creator and the seeker.
The film invents a face of New York City that, amidst its individualism, dwells in the collective of a multicultural diverse society that is the embryonic stage of a future world and gives hope for a possibility of a future society in harmony around the globe.
This Documentary won the 'Cinema Paradiso' Award for great cinematography, insight and impact at the Auroville Film Festival 2013.
