- Just because we are all on Covid-19 lockdown doesn't mean we need to stop learning piano!
Online lessons don't have to be difficult! Here are some easy setup suggestions for both students and teachers.
Online Boogie Woogie Piano lessons with me can be booked through www.arthurmigliazza.com/lessons
One tip about headphones:
Regular old headphones that do NOT have a built in microphone will work better than earbuds, or those used for making phone calls. The mic in these headphones tends to block out noise that is not your voice. However, you are welcome to try anything you have and see how it works.
HARDWARE FOR WEBCAM MOUNT:
****The cellphone tripod I have is like this one (I THINK). Can't find the exact one anymore, but this one has a detachable clamp like mine:

****The mic stand camera mount I have is this one:

The audio track is "Sing Sing Sing/ Bumble Boogie" from my album Laying it Down:
• Sing Sing Sing/ Bumble...
Bumble Boogie...wow! I play it (I have girl hands...an octave plus 1 is all I get) but you rocked it! My goodness I loved all those extra huge chords! The speed and the smoothness... You are definitely the Bumble King! 🐝
Thank you 😂 🐝
Thanks for putting this together. Very helpful. Well done.
Nice idea for a video and well done. Great swingin' soundtrack, too, from Krupa to Bumble Boogie!
Thanks!
God bless you sir

Thank you!
Thanks a lot! This is so useful!!👌👌
Great to hear that it is helpful! Thanks 🙏
Yes absolutely! I recently joined an online keyboard class and this was so helpful! I could easily set up everything before the class👍
@@snehatam That's great news!
Good idea (doing vid on this issue).
Thanks! Hope it helped.
So it seems you have an overhead look, but do you ever show your face and talk? Or do you move the camera to the side of you and back up or have you tried having two views at the same time like side of you and overhead maybe with webcam and phone? Trying to figure all this out is interesting.
On Skype and zoom it is easy to switch between the laptop camera and external usb camera. So I use both during the lesson. Not possible to see both views at the same time though. You need to switch back and forth.
My keyboard has a mirrored image on the screen. How can I fix it?
Try using the back camera on your phone instead of the front one.
The problem is most teachers (and students) are not using proper set ups. A IPad is NOT good enough, teachers and students need to be using a separate webcam for overheard view and iPad of something for side view. Further they need a sperate mic as the mic in devices is simply not good enough to hear nuances and balances in dynamics, voicing, string resonance etc , nor is it in the proper location
I am a tad annoyed they way teachers are pushing online lessons as if they are the same as inhouse lessons. The simply are not unless you have a very professional set up
Yes, in person is always best!
