This was The Music Used in a BBC TV Series called God's Wonderful Railway in 1980.
They also used Holst's Moorside Suite, which is on the CD as well.
Out of all the many brass band recordings of the Severn suite for me this is my favorite, Elgar Howarth just gets it right and his team of Grimethorpe are just magnificent, also Decca recorded all the instruments so clearly, this is a band and it's Maestro on Top form
this cd gives a new era of music for brassband from 1928 (before that time there were only transcriptions or arrangements of symphonic/orchetsral works)
