The american think german hast no sense of humor because they don`t understand it. german humor ist mostly intelligent and need wisdom that us people don`t learn in school.
Other nations also think that Germans have no humor.
It's not an American stereotype. It's unanimously agreed that German humour has a reputation as bad as British cousine.
@@Ingrid-wf4clThat is entirely possible. Germany is not the funniest country in the world, but saying we have no sense of humor is like saying there are no smart people in this or that country.
Germans also have the stereotype of being terribly honest, and that goes together.
If a joke isn't funny at all, at least we're honest enough to say it and not laugh so that the joke teller doesn't feel offended.
As a German, I prefer to be honest rather than funny, even if I'm bad at telling jokes.
@@benjaminrieker5244 Yes, being blunt and being on the nose go hand in hand. Greetings from Austria.
Christoph Waltz was also Dr King Schultz in "Django Unchained" 😉
And Jan Bockelson in „König der letzten Tage“ - a German TV drama miniseries about the reign of the Anabaptists in Münster in 1530.
Well, they are basically the same. And i presume making fun of, or teasing the neighbour is something people generally have in common.
Pretty good observation. German split their lives into family, friends and fun on the one side to relax and business, professionality and seriousness on the other side to get things done, while in America work does never end, so humor is integrated in all parts of life and today it's even seen as to be neccessary for the personal representation in a professional environment. Problem with that is, if you aren't tired enough because of always working, you lose the rest of time and energy to joking around. That doesn't get anything done.
It‘s complicated. The Austrians will never forgive the Germans that the Germans elected a certain Austrian to lead them from 1933 to 1945… I believe that fellow was originally drawing postcard motifs in Vienna, but then somehow emigrated to Germany at the start of World War I in order to serve for the Kingdom of Bavaria. His name was Adolf… something.
I think it is because "Sissi", the most famous Austrian was from Germany. 😁
Ja. Italien genauso 😮 . Also halte einfach denn Mund. Ich liebe die österreicher ❤❤❤❤
Hilter, I think his surname was Hilter. As long as you don't mention the war you'll be fine! 😂
@@Arsenic71 And jolly good chums with Messrs. Heimlich Bimmler and Ron Vibbentrop.
@@schmidtchristian1401…I got a gut feeling you can’t quite follow the train of thought of a joke if the joke is written in English…
he is Austrian so he grew up watching Austrian & German Tv at the same time , he doesnt need to watch youtube xD he is just dizzing.
Very polite and diplomatic indeed. Just saying that line about battleship vs a waltz proves it 😂
Similar humor though. For me as a german, i would say they are more international. Austria is known for tourism, so beeing polite even when not necessarily meaning it, seems more important.
That may be true for Vienna, where everyone thinks they are in a Habsburg imperial city. Austrians from Tyrol or Styria are a different caliber. They are too German for us Germans.
Well, there are some similarities between the countries, but also differences. Whether it's the language The German says tomato, our neighbor calls it tomatoes. It can probably be described as hate love. There was once a TV series called Pifke Saga that made waves, but in the end helped both of them. The series was well made and exaggerates the characters a lot. But that's the point of such satire. I found some parts on YT, it's worth seeing and amusing to watch.

Germans say Tomate ,while Austrians call it Paradeiser.....
@@Ingrid-wf4cl Look it up in the "Atlas zur deutschen Alltagssprache" and you'll be surprised.
@@Ingrid-wf4cl A huge part of Austria also says "Tomate".
No German says tomato. Except he is talking in English.
@@dn3087 in German it is Tomate.

I don't know how much cocaine he snorted beforehand, but it must have been really bad stuff. :(
