I think it's all about timing. Human goes through different phases in life and it's not as straight forward as a choice between money and passion. There are life responsibilities, financial obligations, state of the economy, and mental state that may change what's best for you at different points of your life. Just remember that we all have different journeys and interpretations of what adds value to our life (eg wealth/fame/purpose). You have to be mindful to not be succumbed to peer pressure or what you see on social media. Do what brings joy to your life.

Love whatever John said at 19:45 Do what you love but don't make your job your identity because it is true, you can lose your job in an instant due to changes around us. If our work defines us then it is difficult to pick yourself up when you are knocked down.
Such a real channel. John seems very open minded. A boss that don’t sugar coat.
When John mentioned about not hiring 40+ year olds, because he assumed that they would be harder to manage, etc, it honestly made me quite sad. We will all become middle-aged one day and is this how we want to be viewed as? There might be some truth to it but I hope employers still try to give them a chance by understanding them more in the interview.

passion cannot eat, but if your passion can sustain you and its what you enjoy vs joy of money, go for it!
John seems like a good boss
There is no right or wrong! What matters is how informed your decisions are and make the least regretful choice at the moment. Once you walk the path you choose and when looking back at your decision, then only will it feel "wrong". The future is always unknown (probably?) :D

18:50 really speaks to me. Especially when in this day and age the number of creative graduates is high. Competition eventually becomes very frequent as you get older. I thought a lot about this since Circuit Breaker and I'm trying to make a career change at 29 years old. It's good you mentioned this because a creative career is heavily fueled by passion. But passion can only burn for so long. Very important for creatives to assess themselves and make the necessary change if needed.

This is a very good topic for the young with youth on their side. How about an episode on 50 year olds who are laid of and unable to be gainfully employed becos they are disadvantaged? With reference to the creative director example that was mentioned.

Honestly, this question can be asked the same like, is it wrong to give up your dignity for money. I'm not going to target any group but that's a hot topic for debate.

i want a comfortable life and i am willing to work hard to get it .

hey ! i really love the 6 types of games of life , want to find out more especially the mention of like one goes through 4 types of the 6 games in their lifetime (the phases of life), i also believe it is the values and beliefs - One can grow to love the job/calling, or one pivot towards the calling. Passion* for some, is best left to a hobby as it being a hustle may destroy the passion of the hobby in the first place (that Vox article of dying of hobbies). Finally it is the MBTI possibly - as MBTI has core values , 4 : responsibility , freedom, altruism , and erudite (knowledge seeking ), usually one start with 1 core value , and slowly have the rest.

For what they mentioned about learning so quickly in the first two years and hitting a plateau after that, that's literally why so many ppl have a hard time mastering sth XD

The best is to work a job that eventually becomes your passion 🤣 then you never really “working” but growing your passion more. Although that may not get the most money as compared to other jobs but you can still have enough to sustain your lifestyle.
