Philosophy 162: "Destination and destiny as a scientist" (lectured by Prof. Toshiyuki Namai, Japan)

The lecture shall be given to you now. First, I’d like you to question yourself. "Where is your destination?" This is the matter of locality. If you wish to get out from this locality, this question shall be as follows, silently, I’d like you to think of the question, “where is your destiny?" Destiny is essentially different from destination. You are now studying many sciences under the auspices of my scientific instruction. It is very intellectual for you to be guided to study various scientific aspects. Why? Because through experiencing multitudinous aspects of sciences, you can grasp the essential direction out of a lot of aspects in different sciences. Even though you have intellect, as a matter of reality, it is very easy for you to lose your way. Especially, when you are not sure about your destination scientifically, you waste your time. You cannot use time effectively. This is not a matter of calculation. But, anyway, you need to know your destination clearly. If you understand your destination, if you are clear enough how you reach your destination scientifically, you can use time valuably. You can take advantage of time given. And also, you can be more intellectual systematically based upon your recognition regarding destination. You continue digging a tunnel scientifically. You experience digging a tunnel scientifically day after day, week by week, month by month, year by year and of course, decade by decade. You shall be so sure where you are going. You feel your way is concrete enough to reach your destiny. You need a being who is perspicacious to guide you. You need a being who possesses a discerning eye to give you appropriate guidance. Because “when the blind lead the blind, they both fall into a ditch.” A person who gives you appropriate guidance needs to keep opening his eyes to give you guidance.
