This was one of the best Christmas gifts I got when I was a kid. I'd play with this mountain for hours, days, months, and years to come. Even when I've lost all of the pieces, I still play with the mountain itself. This thing was so cool. Never did watch the show...bc this was all based from an animated series?
Ya man I agree I got this as my big gift for Christmas one year as a kid and absolutely loved it. I had a huge box full of all kinds of these and when I was a teenager gave them all away to my younger cousin and regret it now
Considering these were the Polly Pocket for boys toys, getting a huge mountain shaped evil lair as the big toy was way cooler than the giantified versions of Polly pocket that my sisters got. Who doesn't want to know what's inside a big mountain of evil? So awesome, wish they still did toys like these for boys to let the imagination run wild.
Oh man, I had this. It was incredible. So many little details to play around with. I remember being a bit disappointed by the monochromatic walls because there were so many little details molded into them: little skulls in nooks, stairways, and what looked like some kind of pantry or something. I always wondered if those were originally meant to be painted, but then the company decided not to to cut costs.
There is actually a spot cut into the rocks on the left side of the set that the rock creature perfectly fits into, face down, for complete camouflage. This was definitely an intentional design element that no one seems to know about. But that’s understandable - it’s super easy to miss. I discovered it by chance when I was a kid. I think maybe the designers intended it to be an Easter egg.
did you know the skullmaster has a different face on the back of his head? thats why his robe is a loose part, so you can rotate it to show his different face
If you gently pull the bottom tongue past the hinge you'll hear and feel a click, it can fold down without breaking it. I know I was able to with mine.
Hi again James, my set is 95% complete I am just in need of the flaming fireball ( not the round out) ironically, I have two of the rounds ones and plenty of other parts if you need any in trade.
I got mine from ebay and i never had half of the creatures. I had skull master, the orange ogre thing, the turtle, the crab and the dragon, the shark, escape pod, and a few others i never got, but i did get mighty max, a virgil, and norman and some other odds and ends instead. I also used to have to fire balls, i don't think i do anymore. I need to go through all my toys i had as a kid. My mom still has most of them in boxes because space is limited in an apartment.
I started to collect Mighty Max again this year. Im going to pick one of these next week at a local vintage toy seller. It is still sealed I belive, new old stock, I got a nice deal on it. Im planing to do an unboxing of it on my channel. Never got this one as a kid but It trully is one of the holy grails in the Mighty Max toy line. Thanks for the video and for sharing your Skull Mountain ,)
I still have mine, no missing pieces and great condition. Excited to play with it when my two boys are a little older. Not sure I can ever sell it

Mannn I used to have this. I miss it
Go buy another one! One for the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews
You totally missed that the rock dude fits perfectly face down amongst the rocks on the left side. He completely disappears. It's neat.
All I could think while watching this otherwise amazing review.
i kinda remember that the Skullmaster had two faces and you could rotate his upper body to reveal the other one.
I got this for my eighth birthday. This brought back the nostalgia. I remember how it made me feel. Weird.
We’re you born in 1988?

So much nostalgia, there's so many play sets from this area, but i think Might Max were among the best

I remember this!!!
I could never get this as a child here in Mexico, it was super expensive. How much fun our generation had with toys.
I had that when it came out!! Memories

Damn, never new that!
This is the toy I always wanted as a kid.
I'm pretty sure that the "rock"monster has a spot in the set where you can place it.
