Silicon Valley Title Sequence Breakdown

- HBO has the best titles sequences on TV and Silicon Valley is no exception. We break down all the little details in the title sequences over the years.
Shots Fired is publishing a follow up soon that breaks down how the Silicon Valley Title Sequence has changed throughout the years as well as why some companies disappeared from the title sequence and others have become more prominent.
The song used throughout is the royalty free track by CMA - You're Free
please do a video describing the title differences over the seasons
+1 that's what I was expecting.
The only one I noticed is the Uber/Lyft balloons changing sizes, but I guess that´s the most obvious. ;-)
The balloon was of a different company that bursted in older seasons.
I think it's Napster
there is this video about all changes and history behind every detail: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
I like how the Uber and Lyft balloons change in size during the sequence, seemingly a reference to Lyft's gain in popularity at the expense of Uber's "missteps"
Great Video. High Quality content, interesting even to those whove never seen the show. Good work.
I appreciate the kind words! I'd like to blend in a bit more content like this to balance the constant bloodbath of my other videos and their comment sections.
to be honest, your content is way above average. Im positive that you'll blow up soon enough. Already viewing this comment thread as "I talked to him before he was famous" lul. Keep it up.
Would love ot see a follow up to the intros of the previous seasons, has the intro changed quite a bit
yup its true, never really heard about the Silicon Valley show, but am LOVINGG this video!! greattt jobbbb!!
damn its cool to see how you know or have researched all the details.....
I've always wanted to know these things!!
Whoa! The king of macros himself has arrived!
Excellent breakdown of the intro! I would personally like to see how it changed over the seasons. But even in it's current form it's super interesting to see how it all lays out.
You missed Kind Financial, next to Intel. They invest in Cannabis companies. There also appears to be a Windows logo below that, along with one other logo I don't recognize. Looks almost like an AMD logo, but backwards.
Also love the little private jets flying in on the air strip next to Alibaba and Soylent. Definitely a common thing out here
Ah, here's the Kind/Microsoft connection: Per LA Times: "The startup drew headlines last week after Microsoft announced it would make Kind’s Agrisoft Seed to Sale software available for sale on its cloud computing platform that services government clients - a move that marks Microsoft’s foray into the marijuana business."

Ok, i'm way too into this. Going outside now lol
+Harold M You're right! Thanks!
Harold M nice
Also the square building with an orange circle is the logo for headspace
Fantastic video. Great narration and love the music in the background. Well done with finding all the small and big references!
I always told myself to take a few minutes and really inspect each intro of this show since I knew I was missing a lot. You saved me from doing that, so thank you! Fantastic video. Silicon Valley's intro is one of the many reasons why I love it.
there is actually WAAAY more stuff going on. there is this video about all changes and history behind every detail: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
Great breakdown! Thanks for taking the time to make this, really nice to see some of those details I've been too lazy to freeze-frame study myself. :)
I was pretty sure I was missing so many references and you proved me right. Thank you, great video!
Congrats on getting a break through video to the top of reddit. I hope to be there one day.
You know your old when explanation is required of what AOL was and why its gone...
Michael LaGrange what is it and why is it gone?
I Changed The Name, well, AOL offered _wonderful experiences_ such as:
- "Gotta check my mail"; Beeep pschhhkrkrkrbrrrbrrchingkrrrpscchPSHCCHHSHHHTRRKK
And
- "MOM DID YOU PICK UP THE PHONE??? MY DOWNLOAD WAS AT 98%!!!"
Believe you meant "You've got mail!"
They were a company that gave out free CD's you could use to have wars with your friends
there is this video about all changes and history behind every detail: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html There is a lot of jokes about AOL as well)
Love the breakdown of everything in the title sequence; which I never knew it was that informative.
This video is great example of how low bitrate affects video quality. Full HD, high bitrate > 4k, low bitrate
+Dufffaaa93 I agree 100% unfortunately that's UA-cam for you.
Could you upload it on Vimeo?
No, this quality is because your source footage or rendering settings are bad.
Great video, really appreciated eliciting such a detailed informations from such a short video. Plethora of knowledge.😊
been wondering about some of these, great break down, thank you!
Thank you for posting this.
This is truly brilliant! Amazing breakdown of the title sequence and such precise explanation of the companies in relevance to their structures :) Kudos!!!
there is actually waaaaay more in here: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
Lev Kalashnikov Thanks again for an extended information!! :)
Very interesting. It goes by so fast there's no chance to catch any of this so this was great. Some obvious stuff and some stuff that just needs to be highlighted and some pretty obscure stuff. Thanks.!
Daamn I was gonna search for the same thing but glad you already broke it down!
What a great breakdown! Thank you!
Wow, well done, man! This video was pretty fuckin' awesome! My friends and I have frequently paused the show during the title sequence and looked up all the little references we could find there, and we'd actually uncovered a fair few of them. But the level of detail you went into for this was just amazing. I wouldn't've thought that even a tiny detail like one of the CARS on the road would be a reference (and a pretty damn obscure one at that!). My friends and I had noticed the FBI vans though and figured that a detail THAT specific must be referring to something, but we had no idea what and it was rather bugging us a little lol.
Also, on a side note, I just want to point out that I really like your choice of BGM for the video. I can't really pinpoint any specifics here - it just sounds like it "belongs". I often notice the music in videos like this even if it's muted and subdued, and how well it helps set the tone for the video can make or break the whole works very easily. In this case the track chosen just fits the video well, IMHO.
This is the first video of yours I've ever come across, and it has most definitely earned you a new subscriber, my friend! I can't believe I'm only just now seeing your channel! 😁
Awesome breakdown, thanks..!!
This is amazing. I never took the time to pause and look at all the references.
Very interesting! Thanks for the video
Great video, more of this!!!
Thanks a lot for this. Great job. this is so wonderful.
Good breakdown. Silicon Valley can be quite a bubble sometimes and I'm glad you broke it down for other people who don't live where I live.
Such quality content and only 5k sub, hope you have a long run, and this was quiet informative
Great video ! 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing!
Pretty cool thorough video 😎
Great video. Thanks
jian yaaannnnggggg
"Is your refrigerator running? This is Mike Hunt."
"No. There's no special occasion ever happen in your house." - omg that line made me die.
"Yes. My dick is very enormous. And my app made Raviga alot of money. And I still pay no rent" 😂
This is some supreme quality shit👌
Thanks for taking your time to make this video, bruv.
i haven't watched silicon valley yet. i liked this video and am subscribing. thank you.
Great Video!!!
A witty and perceptive piece of historical animation. Bravo.
This is great. Thanks from a fan!
Thank you!
Thanks for doing this summary. I always wanted to check the details, but was too eager to see the next episode to pause the video... 😅
This channel is really good quality. I'm still very surprised at the relative size of the channel. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Larry Ellison has a famous passion for Sailing, not necessarily climbing - even though he dabbled in that....those photos are of his America's Cup sailing race wins.
Yes those are from sailing, I also included a generic picture of him with champagne. The idea was to show off his general sportiness and Tony Stark style.
But the interesting part about the Oracle building in that intro is the money they throw around. Oracle swims in money thanks to patents mostly.
I am quite unaware of significant parent revenue at Oracle. I thought it was licensing and support fees.
And… the Oracle buildings should really be cylindrical.
Excellent!I didn't know so many references were hidden!
there is actually WAAAAY more. there is this video about all changes and history behind every detail: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
It would be really interesting to see what specifically changed over the years
Good job. Cheers!
Damn good work !!
This is amazing!
Wow! I loved this!
Thank you!! I was looking for something like this about e months ago when I was binging on Silicon Valley
here is a better version with waaaay more explanation and history behind every detail: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
So this is absolutely amazing
Good one man!
You said over the years but this clearly only analyzes the season four opening.
I love how Lyfts balloon got bigger and bigger each season
This is amazing.
The style of the graphics reminds me of CityVille, a game by Zynga.
Great video.
check this one out, with comparison of all 5 seasons: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
LOVED THIS
this is awesome!
Love the Blackmill in the background
I miss you
Would love ot see a follow up to the intros of the previous seasons, has the intro changed quite a bit
AFTER THIS FUCKING VIDEO THAT I BEEN SEARCHING FOR ALL OVER THE INTERNET, NOW I SUBSCRIBE
Stuff not covered in the video (let me know if I missed anything!)
Season 1 also had:
* PayPal sign where season 4 has Tesla (entrepreneur Elon Musk is common to both)
* 'sgi' making place for Google (they are the former owner of that part of Google campus)
* 'myspace' sign changing to a smaller version
* a building with the old Apple logo (rainbow)
* AOL sign falling, its place being taken by Facebook
* Napster balloon ascending only to crash a moment later
* Adobe building (not showing on other seasons due to different zoom)
Season 2:
* That pixelated 'D' of 'All Things Digital' being replaced by re/code
* Clinkle & Anybots logos (near 23&Me)
Season 3:
* The Amazon drones were yellow and carried wine (instead of pizza)
* I'm not sure, but behind the Yelp sign, I think the dome reads "Energy Pod"
I'm just running the opening theme through my head: eheh, eheh, wahwah wahwah wah
Love this!!!!
Whoa I'm a Silicon Valley native and I live in my coupe Toyota, funny how accurate the this intro is. The way I see it is the valley forces u to become very successful, an environment that puts u either above the average or that puts u below the average no inbetween
I love the self driving teslas in there. Such a great opening that always changes!
Aaaand SUBBED!! 😀
I think the airport at the top of the scene with the landing planes represents Surf Air! :)
"Larry Ellison's passion for rock climbing" - shows his sailing team 🤔
6:18 correction: Larry Ellison, *former* CEO of Oracle (he was CEO up to 2014)
Was hoping this was a breakdown of the motion graphics
Worth noting, I think over the 4 seasons the Lyft balloon has gotten bigger as to reference its growth as a company.
Miss this channel, rip
there are some one-off features in some of the episodes. not every episodes within the season are made the same i remember. but this video deserves lotsa thumbs up.
check this video with way more explanations over 5 seasons: ua-cam.com/video/W7oV45qTBeM/v-deo.html
my thanks to thee
Shots Spotted !
On the next video...
Forgot to mention the Waymo self driving cars. They're all over mountain view and palo alto
Love it!
thanks
also of note, the Kind Financial logo on Intel's building is for a cannabis company financing company
hey man.
Great video.
I'm looking for a while to find a good quality photo of the title.
Want to print it for my office wall.
Any idea where/if I can find it?
Most thoughtful title sequence ever made.
That was historically educational.
Where are you dude we need you ...
Great video, but just so you know, the AOL building pictured is actually one of the Facebook buildings. Actually that entire cluster of buildings is Facebook's Menlo Park campus, formerly Sun Microsystems..
so cool
Perfect
There's also a Napster balloon that rises and quickly sinks but maybe that's in an earlier version of the intro (do they change it?).
Most researched intro scene ever
Interesting!
Geek culture is a culture of details.
Great video, thanks.
Will you upload again?
I like how you snuck in that 23andMe ad.
Oh man do I wish that line of bullshit were true. I've made $146 total from this channel thanks to the insane amount of adblock out there. I have no sponsors, and am constantly skirting the line of demonetization. I didn't even make a penny off of Origins of Cuck, because UA-cam age restricted it and demonetized it. I know it feels cool to be clever and postulate conspiracy theories (I do it all the time), but the truth is way more boring. My mother took the 23&me test for health reasons and recommended it throughout the family, making me somewhat familiar with it.
So it wasn't a paid advertisement?
I wasn't trying to be cool or clever. I actually thought it was an advertisement, and I thought it was a clever way to place the ad into the video. I wasn't expecting a reply like this, sorry for the misunderstanding.
No it was just an aside about the company. The footage was from a guy reviewing the service. Thanks for being reasonable. I appreciate it!
Thank you for making this wonderful video.
Stop getting along, you two! This is the internet - here be dragons...Fight! :D
Would love to see the 3d models of this
awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be awesome if the headquarters were actually that close to each other
Can't wait for the next and maybe last season of Silicon Valley :0
Slight correction, if continue the sequence you'd notice the blue P is joined by a second P which means this is most likely paypal's logo.
also in the earlier sequences that is where the paypal building is, just with an older logo.
