    You are very much a gentleman farmer Andrew, straight and very reasonable. Not many left, credit to you.

    Great videos, I’ve just subscribed, how many acres are you farming? Do you run any cattle?

      Hello Jon, thanks for subscribing. If you look at my home page on here you’ll find a full rundown on the farm. We don’t have any livestock ourselves but do have some sheep come in to graze cover crops.

    Forgot to mention the days when I filled grain lorries with a ford 5000 and Cameron gardener loader, 75 buckets for a 20 tonne lorry, and a very strong clutch leg. 🤣

      My Dad told me of the days he used to fill beet lorries with a fork!! 🤦‍♂️😓

    I came across your videos by accident and have watched a few. I don't know what editing software your using but the audio clips aren't the same level which is a pain when you have to up and down the volume.

      Thank you for watching and apologies. It’s a glitch with some iPhone 11 Pro’s. If I record them on silent mode, they are fine, occasionally I might forget and don’t realise until editing at the weekend and because they were receded a few days before, I can’t re record them. If you Google it you’ll see the issue.

    Wow a super impressive set up Andrew. Love how you weigh the load, and take samples and evidence them. I don’t know a great deal about farming but I know a professional operation when I see it. Amazing keep up the great work.

      Thanks Kev, pleased you’re learning something new and enjoying the content. There’s so much fiddling done in the grain trade by some end users we would be foolish not to keep a sample from every load.

      When they are high up the bucket will tip back too far. I think all forklifts do, try it?!

    Great video again, workshop should look better when it's all put together nicely. Them tyres might stop them with a bit of luck should have there vehicles seized n crushed if caught, B*stards. Olly will want the copyright fee for them tyres.

    Like your video’s beautifully set up farm. We have never had any luck with a grass or a cereal in a cover crop before another cereal, usually take out any volunteers with a graminicide in the “radish” as you would in OSR.

    Andrew I really enjoy yoru very infromitive videos but you really need to sort the audio issues you have at times as we can hardly hear you in parts of the video

      Thank you and sincere apologies. I always use silent mode but must of forgotten on some of the videos. I’ll be changing the phone any time soon so it might not happen.

    How long do you have to keep your grain samples for?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 роки тому

      Usually until the grain is paid for, so about a month but we keep them until just before the following harvest.

    Is most on-farm grain storage in the UK in sheds and not silos?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 роки тому +1

      Yes it is, mostly because sheds can be used for storing machinery and other items. Grain Co operatives tend to have silos as they don’t have much machinery to store and they are cheaper than sheds.

      It’s all owned eventuality. We usually buy good 2nd hand but will spread payments out over 3 or even 4 years. I’ve looked at contract hire but it never seems to stack up financially.

    A tidy grain store and yard arrangement. I would like to see more high viz PPE being worn by staff & lorry drivers and pedestrians further distanced from moving plant.
    Given the incident on the video with grain bucket that should trigger a review of the farm Risk Assessment Method Statements. #GoHomeSafe

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 роки тому +2

      There was no incident with the grain bucket, some wheat spilled over the back.

    An interesting video as always! I hope you left the cladding until after this weekends storms! You commented on the price you get by contracting at an early stage was lower than if you’d waited but is it a question of better safe than sorry as prices go up and down? At least you know what you’re going to get and can prepare your next seasons budget from the results? Is there any cure for the drainage problems? I watch Ollys Agri.contract and he’s always got a field which is doing a terrific job imitating a swimming pool/fishing lake!
    Thanks for a great and interesting video.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 роки тому

      Thanks Chris for your comments. Olly is a good friend of mine and we often speak so I know he’s always playing with ducks in his pond!! I’ll try not to get too wound up about selling brain when it goes up in price later because on the day, it was the right thing to do. The horrendous situation in Ukraine Is a total one off but I am not rejoicing with next years grain prices where they are when people are dying.
