For some reason this never works for me. It always just moves my camera angle to another side of the map instead. The objects never move, just the camera. Any idea why?
it's because the 9 key is often set to a certain camera position. i think if you hit CTRL + 9 at the same time instead of just 9 it should raise the objects without moving the camera. also, apparently you can just delete the folder that stores the camera setting positions called "VideoCameraStates" in /Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/VideoCameraStates so you won't have to press CTRL. hope this helps!
Better yet, find a shelf that fits a lot of decorations (the cube shelf from dream home is great but there is a base game one too) and put it to the height of where you want to place something but off to the side then alt place on the shelf without a slot from there, this is good for when the 9 key doesn’t go to the perfect height you need

how do you move around so smoothly? every time i’m trying to move the camera to decorate something, my camera won’t stay still and it brings me down to other floors lol very frustrating 😂
Not sure if this is helpful but there is a game camera setting called 'edge scrolling' that you can turn odd and it kept my camera from flying all around

I was literally raging bc neither just 9 or 9+ctrl was working till I saw your comment and decided to try it and it worked I can finally decorate in piece tysm
If you are putting stuff on a shelf and it does what you say it does, then move the shelf by pressing alt and then you can move the shelf freely and match it to the height you want.
Try using mouse and keyboard (works on ps4 just have to click with mouse to enable interaction) If it dosent work then press down The xbox version of L2 and R2 whilst using the arrows

I just use TOOL mod because they let you raise and lower stuff exactly how you want it. Also you can size things perfectly as well

Its because you raise the floor not the house. Try building the house on a raised foundation instead.

I use ps4 but with Mouse and keyboard so try that. Keep in mind that to enable the mouse you have to click with it on the screen.
