you didnt need a video of you running i already knew, house collapsed from the earth quake that was casued, half my village dead but keep up the good work
😂😂
LOLLOL
Damn💀
What was your time? I’m around 130kg 6”4 44 years old and I’m doing a 5km in around 40 minutes. It’s not great, but at least I’m trying it👍🏴
8 hours.
At least you’re exercising mate fair play to ya!
@@joeyboii2k8cheers mate. I can do weights any day, but running is a necessary evil!
It might be taking you 40 minutes but your running laps around all those people sat on the couch so fair play mate
I'm a small man at 63yo, 6'1" 85 kg with a heart condition, almost a couch potato and I applaud you for getting it done!
I think this is the way to go for Tom, he’s got the strength, that’s not a problem. Doubling down on his cardio and leaning out a bit is going to pay dividends in moving and endurance events. We’ve already seen how much he’s improved at these at this year’s WSM.
Wow, 5k is impressive for your size!
Running Will:
Increase Fitness, Endurance, Agility, Recovery time and boost oxygen levels... A Strongman that can Run is the most Lethal Weapon of all!..
Just 1-2 miles twice per week is all you will need to boost your strongman energy and Stamina to another level..
Also You both look younger and more fresh in the face since you started running... Running is great for so many things, Keep up the good work!
This is why i think strongman is better now than before, adding conditioning rather than max lifts all the time
Exactly - if u want static max lifts go to powerlifting . Moving with heavy weights is an essential part of strongman . Who doesnt wanna be able carry the shopping home lol
Still needs a strength focus. It’s not called Fitman. I like what Brian said a few years back about one of the medleys, I think at a Worlds, but every athlete finished the medley and it just came down to time. He said for strongman, if every athlete in the field can finish every implement in the finals medley it’s a good indicator the weights were not heavy enough.
@@astang1072 yes i agree .
Earth is shaking when these two run past you
750lbs pounding the pavement
Tom has insane cardio for such a huge man
all elite strongman have good cardio
I ran a 5K in 27 minutes at the age of 40 at 260 pounds. I ran a half marathon at 270 pounds. It's all about pain tolerance. There will be so many times you want to quit. Every time you don't, you win.
Every time you think you can't run any farther, you'll surprise yourself. It just takes persistence. And you have to be eating right and on time to fuel your runs.
I mean running shouldn’t really be about pain tolerance. Strength is much more that because you can train to failure and give it everything you have for one movement. But when you run long distances the muscles shouldn’t really fatigue to quickly. Only maybe the last few km if you’re pacing yourself. Otherwise more endurance training should help.
@@LeanAndMean44 Stop talking. You're clearly not a runner. Holy hell.
@@jasonfritz838I would say if you’re 270 lbs, obviously neither are you.
@@woooooooo9061I’m over 270lbs and I’m a runner? I’m also below 20% body fat, you do realise height and muscle adds weight not just fat!
@@jasonfritz838 lmao I’m not anymore but I ran a lot for a year of my life (50 + km a week)
I think we just have different definitions of pain. Obviously running is not comfortable.
You both did really well 🙌 obviously strongman isn't just feats of strength nowadays, conditioning is so important. I'm loving your willingness to do whatever it takes to stay at the top of your game. Spice level 💯 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
I think walk-run is a great way to do it. You can easily adjust intensity as needed for your goals.
Awesome video. I started doing weekend 5k park runs last year just to try something new as cardio and I don't get on too well. Times aren't great but it gets you outside, fresh air and doing something positive for your fitness!
yes
im a strongman.. I should be eating Easter eggs! absolute gold!
This is good example of specialists. A strongman will never be a great runner but that doesn’t mean they can’t run. A great runner will never deadlift 1000lbs but they can still lift. It’s great when specialists still work on other areas like you guys do!
Tom has to run. Thanks for the video!
The more you run on the ball of your foot, the less stress your ankle, knee and hip take. Strong feet are also helpful for strongman, since you're standing so often, and everything is stabilized through the feet.
Great effort you two! I would probably recommend doing a lower impact form of cardio like rowing or cycling. On the grounds that as great as running is, it's also a high impact sport and you're carrying a lot of weight. I went through a stage of heavy compound lifts & distance running while being 210+ pounds and suffered a chronic back injury as a result.
Switched over to rowing since and the pain has gone!
Just a small suggestion for you, otherwise I'm a huge fan! 🙌
Route looked lovely! Running is great for cardio and mental health. Just look after your joints, guys :) Well done for finishing a 5K!
2:00 running made you win WSM. 100%
I cannot understand how it's not a staple in strongman training across the board. It also improves core endurance and activation and glute activation and shakes out the limbic system fluids leading to better recovery and health (and strength)
Just guys your size should run for time not for distance. And forget the "easy pace" stuff - you have to be really lean to get into a real easy pace - your form will suffer. What you were doing was perfect for your size with you having to take a breather - means your whole body is working right in good coordination with good effort.
I used to be a runner but had to stop due to injuries. First started in the gym for rehab after surgeries and got into strongman. Nice to see the best of the Strongmen have a go at running
Glad to see you guys. Thomas Henley's autistic youtube channel led me here I'm a runner and realized I'm autistic at 34 and I don't know many autistic people in sports & fitness, I have been really bad at team sports.
Always a pleasure to spend a few minutes with the boys. I think the cardio is a great addition to their training.
That explains Scotlands earth quack Easter Sunday then 😂 great going guys keep at it you guys are making us Scots proud.
5K at you're size is very good even if you walk half off it. I also reckon having some cardio in your training is a huge boost to overall performance. Good cardio will definitely benefit a strongman in competition
At the track where I meet up with other runners to do speed training each week there are tractor and mining equipment tires lying around to practice tire flips. I may not win the sprinting on the track (though I’m not last either), but I dominate the tire flipping. I tell my wife every time I have no desire to be a skinny runner!
Tommy is the best, amazing human being. Stunnig man. So proud of him and his dedication. So proud of him!!
I think you did well for such big guys, but a more structured run walk might have been a better idea. For example - 15 sec jog, 1 min walk and keep repeating. Then build up the run intervals gradually over time. A bit like lifting weights. Start light and build up slowly.
Well done guys . Strongman definitely has a stamina component that's going to make you better. Superb!!!!
No surprise, modern strongman are all round athletes, very different to old days
I hope you’re wearing good shoes. Butterbean (the boxer) weighed 190kg at his heaviest and for some time after his retirement couldn’t walk. He attributed that to his weight and having to run to maintain cardio.
That said, boxing is a contact sport and that undoubtedly also had something to do with it.
Fastest 5k I’ve ran was getting chased of the police in 2002
Hats of you doing it with no one chasing you lol ✌️
Would love to see Tom the camera man join you for the entire 5k run! Great job!
2:34 I love to run! To me running is freeing!
185kg pounding tarmac for 40 minutes is a soleus injury waiting to happen. Too much too soon. Got to build it up slowly chaps.
Stay Spicy! Congratulations on the 5k! 🌶🌶🌶
Never mind all this park run shenanigans. Your hoodies have been sold out for weeks! Get stocked up asap boys!
Maybe...but he can definitely skip and whistle 😜😂
Tom's point about how the first part of the run, he felt like giving up, but then your heart rate stabilises more and your head gets into it, this may help both of your mindsets for ednurance type of events also. One idea you made me think of, I'm sure some army people in training, do long distance runs, with some weights in a bag on their back, although you'd probable would both need the equivalent of about 6 breeze blocks to make it vaguely worthwhile 🤣Taking inspiration from the beast, how about swimming? It seems, how difficult is how fast you want to swim, I imagine there's a lot of flexibility in terms of how intense a session you could do. Great video from you both, can't wait to see if you carry on with more long runs, or try other things, just looking forward to watching you both progress.
Tom has to run a 5k with 50kg vest on 🤣
"Im a strongman i should be eating easter eggs" 😂😂
It would be great to the Stoltman family doing a local parkrun, I’m sure there is one up there in the Highlands. Koa could do it in a buggy .
Tom the cameraman has to run a 5K, 100%. And do body weight sled pulls so he remembers to "pull his weight" 😂😂😂
Tom has to run a 5k!
ahh, but the cameraman never dies, idk Tom lol
As someone whos got into running the last few months this will be interesting 😂 slow and steady as im sure you know, builds endurance the best. My goal is a sub 20min 5k by the end of the year and a 45min 10k
I would suggest a Couch to 5k. You guys pushed through based on having an incredible base level of strength and fitness, but just like you need to work up to higher weights while lifting, you need to build up to 5k slowly and safely. Do an eight week C25K plan with three runs a week, and in eight weeks you’ll be cruising to 5k times under 30 minutes. Keep that up for another two or three months and 25 minute 5k runs will be doable, and heaven help anyone who accidentally steps into your lane while you’re at speed. Also, be sure to wear appropriate shoes for running - gym shoes won’t have the appropriate padding.
Awesome to see you boys working on the endurance. I cannot wait to see the next show. Get better luke and stay spicy boys
This is what Mitch Hooper has inspired you boys to do. The perfect mixture of strength and fitness is what always should be the defining principles of elite strongmen.
Horses for courses. I'm the opposite - I can run but need to learn how to lift. Stepping out of your comfort zone is hard!
I do wonder if Tom could keep his static strength with a leaner frame. Then he would be absolutely smashing it.
They'll do anything they set their focus on. The best bros ever. Much love❤
❤, stay spicey🌶🌶
So what was their 5k time?
Yup, this is how I feel when I run, too! 😂
Imagine winning the world's strongest man for the 3rd time and straight away thinking what can I improve. What a man you truly are a inspiration big tommy but a big shout out to luke what a man what a big brother. Legends
No no no, Tom the Cameraman absolutely needs to *write* a 5K. He's to jog it while writing a letter of penance for his poor navigation. Well run chaps, lovely to see you having a good time together.
I run 12 k a day am 59 went from 128 kilos to 85 and i started off walking .Good luck lads been running for 6 years now .
Well done guys
The endorphins you get from running is unreal 🤯 love it ❤️ feel great after but you need mental strength to push through the pain that you can cross over to all other activities when you feel like giving up you say fk it and push through ✊️
Learning from the Moose here. Hybrid strongmen will be the future.
Tom definitely has to run a 5k
How is Tom wearing a fleecy hoodie! I’d be melting 🤣 well done boys. Great job.
Every other strongman watching: 5k. That's suicide
Mitch Hooper: . . .
The new tshirts are selling out mega fast. Just managed to get 1 😊
Wee Tom for 5K run and 10 dunks in the North sea after 😂😂🌶️🌶️
Cracking stuff lads, it would be good if the stolman bros could team up with some of the local authorities champion 5k run/cycle rides to get people in the deprived areas of scotland out and about in a safe environment.....watched a darren mcgarvey doc some time ago ...and boy oh boy the picture painted was thougherly depressing. On a good note, keep it up lads .... l've been told myself to improve agility and take up other sports to get those extra few percent gains you wouldn't get from focused sport specific training
Great job guys, really enjoy the positive vibes you both share.
Well done Lads 👏 Keep up the spicy runs 🌶
*Heavy Breathing*
I'm far from a strongman or an athlete but I'm doing the 10 Great Scottish Run this year. Remember doing my first 5k park run at Strathclyde Park and it took me well over 30 minutes. Must've stopped 6 or 7 times but it felt great.
Have you thought of trying boxing for conditioning? It’s fun and low impact compared to running
Well done for managing to do that so will us keep up with the running all the time now for your cardio training
Yes
I'm a strong man and I should be eating Easter eggs HAHAHAHA quality comment Tom!
More running/movement Tom will aid strongman.. To keep beating Mitch you need to increase mobility
Iv recently started the couch 🛋️ 2 10K which is a good way to get into running Iv found. Over 14 weeks time gradually increasing time running and decreasing the rest time 🕰️ hard work but homing to get a 10K in by end July
Missing your training videos lads great motivation in the gym 🌶️
I am exactly half Tom's weight. I ran a 5k today. If you made me do it with myself on my back I'd be out of action for 3 weeks
I would love to see all strongman competitors try to complete a 5k.
Yes to wee Tom running the 5k, got to teach these camera guys some discipline!
Great stuff fellas, but where is episode 1?
Well done to both of you. You both are amazing!!!!! ❤
You should give the Baxter’s 5k in Inverness on 29th September a blast
I will like t see you guys reacting to MMA KO and stuf. That will be spicy.
Thank you Brothers. God Bless.
Satanists.......masons.. fake heros..100%
Now lets see a 5k hop.
You both amaze me no matter what you're up to.
Stoltmans do Infomercials! Very entertaining.
Happy birthday Tom 💪💪
That was bloody brilliant guys 👏. Running that route a lot, the wee kicker hill near the end is never going to be fun, no matter the weight, fitness level, nothing...it's evil 🤣
Great video loved the insight
Good for you boys. Well done 🙏💪💪
Well done you guys!
Get a heart rate monitor, and a 5kg kettlebell and be surprised.
They probably need at least 10 Hello Fresh meals per day to feel somewhat full
I'd easily beat you two over 5k, especially if you were mad at me 😂 keep up the good work you two 👏💪
Great effort guys the more you do it the better it will be……
지구상에서 가장 힘센 형제
Luke. Tom
달리기까지 잘하네요 ❤❤
언제나 Luke. Tom 👍 👍 fighting
Yes let's see that 5k
Practice Lads💪💪!
Lads??? They're polish..Stoltman is Not Scottish...one bit.
Fyi, a normal male human being weighs 70 kg. Yes, you guys finishing this run is very impressive!
How does you lads' running compare to Mitch Hooper ?
