Hey Hip…Big $ime from the Burgh here. (My last name is Simon,so my boys use to call me Sime, and I go about 350lbs,so…hence Big Sime, not big time)But,Just wanted to tell you, I heard you sayin the beginning of this video about being an alcoholic/addict in recovery, and having spent time in the pen. Well I just want you to kno, that I respect the hell out of you for saying that live on the channel. You never know the people that may be able to help. I’m also a recovering alcoholic/addict and Jan. 23,2024 was 8 yrs. clean and sober for me. And I also have quite a few bids through the penitentiary, and once thru the fed joint. I knew we had a lot in common, but it’s really funny how much. I appreciate what you’re doing, and really respect your honesty. Would still like to holler at you sometime if you have a chance, but I’ll quit breaking your stones about it,and I appreciate the shout out at the end of the video. You’re a good dude Hippy, keep up the good work.
Damn, Thank you for saying that bro. Congratulations on your sobriety too man. It's funny, I stop doing dope, I stop going to the joint 😂. Ahite Big Sime, I promise I'm gone Holla at you
New subscriber here i just like to say you put out great bike videos and i enjoy watching them. I ride a 2002 heratige softail classic. I think that its great you were able to overcome your addiction. I worked in prison for 34 yrs in the Va system and if one person can turn their life around its awsome. Keep up with the great stoties and videos you have my support.
Man, im glad you found your way. It truly does warm my heart to see people change for the better for themselves. Redemption is for the righteous. Peace and love, brother
I had a .029 inter and a 0.70 main. When I went to straight pipes and got tired of fouling plugs. (rear plug mostly) I re jetted to a 0.265 inter and a 0.68 main. No more "fluffy" black plugs. Usually with straight pipes you have to lean it out, they make the bike run richer than restricted (stock) pipes.
Hippie, I'm not what you would call of Ace mechanic, but from what I could hear coming from the video, it sounded like that. Shovel head was lean popping back through that carburetor I'm not sure if it was just what I was hearing on the video if it was actually doing it, but oh as opinions go. This one's mine.
Im sure you already checked but just in case, is your tank venting? Enjoyed the story bro, its been ten years since i was locked up, (not prison, but county, in and out on drug and alcohol charges all the time) I made alot of changes, and life is much better now! Thanks Hip Dawg🤘🤘🤘
or bad ground so only gets full connection through the stator. I have lost regulators and coils due to not having the battery, motor and frame all share a common connection. There for anything grounded to the frame with issues is good indicator of this problem. @hippieschoppercorner
That tail light shouldn't go from out to bright with an rpm increase. Make sure it's not discharging at an idle. I loved when you tried to check the brake light without a caliber 😂
I’m going to end up missing this one big dawg!!! might have time tonight before bed, but I’m gonna be partying pretty hard. I’ll be driving when this drops. 👍🍺SLICK
I think my slow jet is a 34.. maybe a 35 36. If it's a newer super e it has an air bleed that can be swapped too for different transition point to full throttle.
Your battery needs attention, maybe a maintenance charge will sort it out, but for now it's taking a charge when your motor is running (a good charge too) and it runs (so no dead cell) but it's flat enough to be screwing with your idle. Swap it out for a new one and see how many of your problems disappear.. (You can always keep it for a spare if a long maintenance charge revives it, use it as a shop light, timing, running a radio.. Also, does that cloth hanging from your pocket smell of brake cleaner? I notice you cough more after using it.
I run points and have since the 70s, I run nothing but blue streak points and condenser, in my experience anything else is a compromise, also solid copper core wires and non resistor plugs.
This here fella shows nothing but good content about nice old chops and building, riding and wrenching on them, and this video had all that an some serious honesty from my man’s soul. You should respect the fact that he turned his life around, and is doing something positive that real bikers can appreciate. If that bothers you, maybe you ought to think about the positive message of recovery and turning his life around, that this man is putting out,and show him the respect he deserves for trying, and keep your opinion (everyone has one) to yourself.
I hope you enjoy the episode

It acts like it's leaning out at idle and spitting back.....Next 1/2 size up on the jet with the air cleaner on?
I would double check your wiring when the motor stumbled your tail light flickered. That tells me theirs a short somewhere
Yeah I saw that too

What carb strap mount are you using? I had to change to one that mounts underneath front rocker box to air filter backing plate..
I've got the one that mounts to the bottom of the intake down to the center case bolt between the tappet blocks
Hippie that sissy bar is awesome. Did you fabricate that and is the top a scabbard or faux ???
I made it and had it chromed. It's a real bayonet. 14" long. I'll pull it out in my next video

Is that a 120 or 130 rear tire?
I believe a 120. I'll check
float level exactly 3/16"?
Well, yes by eyeball lol
