When I was a kid the neighbors up the road had some very old mulberry trees, the trunks were huge, we were able to climb up in them and sit on the branches, the mulberries were at least 3" long and tasted wonderful.

I just purchased 12 scions of Shangri La mulberries. I dont think I'll be able to fit them all on my property, but I do plan on giving some away. I grew up in a house that had a voluntteer mulberry bush. We never did anything with it except puck and eat the dark red berries. They were incredible, a little bit tart, I don't think I ever saw one turn dark, so it could have been the red variety. My boyfriend has bever had one, so I'm hoping he likes the ones I end up growing.

Couldn’t agree more about the Pakistan Mulberry being a heartier berry. Like you, after 10 or 15 I’m stuffed. An amazing, delicious fruit tree for AZ. Plan on having a few Shangri La in the future

Great video. I want to plant a Shangri-la Mulberry tree here in Chandler Arizona, but I'm worried about the roots destroying the foundation of my home . I have a space that is about 25 feet away from my home, but I'm not sure if that's enough space for it. Are you ever worried about this issue as you have eight of them?

I planted three different mulberries last fall. My Pakistani leafed out but then the leaves kind of froze back. It seemed to leaf out more from the base after that and instead of being a one-trunk tree, now there are multiple. Should I remove most of those or do they do better multi-trunked? Are most or all of yours a single trunk?
