Thank you for also including the "EMOTION 15th ANNIVERSARY OVA SERIES" at the beginning. This OVA truly felt like a great way to celebrate that milestone.
In case you're wondering, this serves as the opening to the Imagawa episodes. From episode 4 onwards, it's the more traditional "HEATS" which reuses stock footage a lot. EDIT: Also the Japanese title is the more impressive "Change! Getter Robo", so the CHANGE GETTAAAA in the theme song is a title drop.
I know that this is an unpopular opinion but I love this way more than HEATS. I know HEATS is good but this is just... HEATS doesn't have an accordion, man.
short version: Saotome develops Getter Machine but there is no Dinosaur Empire, Invaders from outer space instead and humanity managed to stall them enough for the Getter team to deal a decisive blow at the end of Moon War (the Getter formation cannon is badass and SRW Z2.1 shows it in full glory). Shenanigans in drama cd led to Michiru and Saotome infested by a surviving Invader taking form of Michiru's friend. And the rest is detailed in the anime.
I wish series didn't switch directors. It was shaping to be something completely unique. Instead we ended up with standard, truly excellent, but still standard super robot show.
I'd like that too, but even so, the new Director understood what the old one wanted and tried to approach it(which we saw in episode 7 and beyond). He did not bend his line. and unique from the getter can only be done if you make anime adaptation of the manga. as I recall,getter has exactly 0 of these. And about originality-what can it be? getter won't have a bad ending,it's a hell of a getter,and after the rocket went off, there would have been something. the ending is gorgeous,and the getter rays give information . normally I wouldn't even call this anime a standard super robots

No voy a negarte la importancia (ni tampoco a comparar cual es más influyente) de Getter Robo porque tal como apuntas muchas series beben de ella porque nada más y nada menos presentó la idea de combinar varios pequeños robots en uno solo más poderoso con diferentes funciones. Lo que ocurre es que Evangelion es el representante de la tercera época en los Mechas, así que influenció a otros tantos decenas de animes de su mismo tipo, innovando en el proceso al combinar elementos de los Super Robots y los Real Robots, así como profundizando más en los sentimientos y problemas de los pilotos. Gundam ya hizo esto, pero no a tal detalle y profundidad.

Tristemente pocos tienen paciencia suficiente para verse una serie de Mobile Suit Gundam o Votoms porque te dicen que son demasiados episodios o siquiera verse unos cuantos capítulos de Mazinger, Getter Robo, etc para que entiendan porque fueron tan relevantes. El caso es que no te pretendía discutir la calidad de la serie y respeto que la odies porque tendrás tu opinión ya formada. Pero para bien o para mal Evangelion se convirtió en el ejemplo de otras series. Getter Robo Armageddon no es muy conocido, aunque es una muy buena serie con toda esa capacidad de transmitir sentimientos. Saludos

or they wanted to change from Mizuki to Kageyama.

This theme is easily one of the best songs to listen to on a long hike. The bass definitely gives it a march beat.
I used this song to make my own version of the Game of Thrones Season 8 Opening. You can find it on youtube.
I saw this opening fits more with what the original director of Armageddon was going for while opening 2 fits more with the general Getter franchise.
