Please don't feel bad about buying yarn and fiber. It is such a delight to see what you've purchased and brings joy to those of us who live in the boonies of Oregon with NO local yarn shops. It also supports all those indie dyers, wool doesn't have an expiration date, and the prices are only going to go up so you're saving money by buying it now. (That's my line anyway). Also I love wearing black so I knit black things all the time, no problem. Just use good light if you're doing anything tricky. Glad to see you. Take care.
I call it my grief yarn- the yarn that I spun as wool therapy after my brother died. It helped me untangle and deal with my thoughts and pain, but everything about that yarn shows that it helped me process my grief. I'm happy for both of us that we had the comforts of wool and spinning to console us. 💜

Thank you for that reference book. My mom lost her dog a year ago this month, snd her dog was my #1 and I loved him like he was my own, snd he and I had the special bond. He knew my mom was his mom, but he knew I was the favorite BFF. He was my true BFF and I grieve that dog to this day. Thanks for all of the info. I’m sorry for your loss😞 When I was younger, I asked my dad why we kept getting pets because it hurts so bad when they died. He said it’s because the joy they bring us while they’re here is worth having to say goodbye. I remind myself of those words often.💜

It's definitely a sport. We stretch before and after the activity. Sometimes it's a sprint to finish a gift before a special occasion, other knits are a marathon (half and half shawl😊). There's knitter injuries (wrist, elbow and shoulder). And we watch videos and commentaries, have contests, travel to events, and root for favorite teams. How is it not a sport?
Yarn is totally a sport. Look how much you have to do...wind it up...arm and hand muscles worked as well as leg muscles if you stand. Then you have to cast it onto the needles and that can be quite an undertaking if you have a lot of stitches....lots of finger and hand movements as well as wrist involvement if you're doing a Turkish cast on and don't forget about all that brain power to focus on counting and using proper tension. Then comes the knitting...shifting of the yarn along the needles with grip strength, holding your arms up so you can see what you're doing...engages the shoulders and back. Then after you've been sitting a while, you realize you're hunching so you suck in your gut (abdominal engagement), drop your shoulders, shift your weight to evenly balance between your butt cheeks (gluteal engagement) and get back to it. If you switch back-and-forth between your hands or are doing two-handed colorwork, you are totally exercising the hand muscles equally. Therefore yarn (and knitting) = sport! 😝
Since Yarn is a Sport, I think knitting is also and should be recognized as an Olympic category. Here's why; you need stamina, focus, mental acuity, muscle strength and a love of the sport to succeed. However, unlike other sports, you end up with a finished product that can be admired by all for decades to come. Happy knitting.
I definitely believe that yarn is a sport. Also, I'm currently playing yarn chicken like nobody's business! 😮😅 Also, if you are looking for a good true crime podcast, I highly recommend Bailey Sarian. She has just come back, also had a major loss recently, but her Mysyery and Makeup Mondays are a hoot to watch. She rehashes famous old crimes. I think you'd love her style.
I heard black was hard to knit with but I knit Moonlit Romp by Vanessa Ewing and honestly had no problem at all. Yes, you need good lighting at night but otherwise I loved it. I want to make Witching Hour too, so, you go, girl. Can’t wait to see it. I don’t think knitting is a sport only because that implies it’s a competition which is not how I see it. My opinion, just saying. I also love Annie Elise ( check spelling). Another good one is Kimberleigha (also check spelling). They’re both great storytellers who do the homework.😊

In fact, they're all gorgeous!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 Channeling your inner Ray!! Do you watch "murder, mystery and makeup" by Bailey Sarian?? She also has "dark history ". Very cool! I worked the thin gold line for 32 years, I'm WAY into true crime. 😉 The yarn judging was interesting.

I like the Law & Crime Network court cases (sometimes if the picture or sound isn't great, then Court TV has the same stuff), I'm big into interrogations and if you haven't yet, then check out the Behavior Arts Panel. They are ex military and ex interrogators that break down criminal's behavior and body language. Fascinating

Yarn is totally a sport. Look how much you have to do...wind it up...arm and hand muscles worked as well as leg muscles if you stand. Then you have to cast it onto the needles and that can be quite an undertaking if you have a lot of stitches....lots of finger and hand movements as well as wrist involvement if you're doing a Turkish cast on and don't forget about all that brain power to focus on counting and using proper tension. Then comes the knitting...shifting of the yarn along the needles with grip strength, holding your arms up so you can see what you're doing...engages the shoulders and back. Then after you've been sitting a while, you realize you're hunching so you suck in your gut (abdominal engagement), drop your shoulders, shift your weight to evenly balance between your butt cheeks (gluteal engagement) and get back to it. If you switch back-and-forth between your hands or are doing two-handed colorwork, you are totally exercising the hand muscles equally. Therefore yarn (and knitting) = sport! 😝

Yarn is an endurance sport, not a sprint--except those fun all-night knitting sessions!!! 😂
Since Yarn is a Sport, I think knitting is also and should be recognized as an Olympic category. Here's why; you need stamina, focus, mental acuity, muscle strength and a love of the sport to succeed. However, unlike other sports, you end up with a finished product that can be admired by all for decades to come. Happy knitting.

Also, I'm currently playing yarn chicken like nobody's business! 😮😅 Also, if you are looking for a good true crime podcast, I highly recommend Bailey Sarian. She has just come back, also had a major loss recently, but her Mysyery and Makeup Mondays are a hoot to watch. She rehashes famous old crimes. I think you'd love her style.

I heard black was hard to knit with but I knit Moonlit Romp by Vanessa Ewing and honestly had no problem at all. Yes, you need good lighting at night but otherwise I loved it. I want to make Witching Hour too, so, you go, girl. Can’t wait to see it. I don’t think knitting is a sport only because that implies it’s a competition which is not how I see it. My opinion, just saying. I also love Annie Elise ( check spelling). Another good one is Kimberleigha (also check spelling). They’re both great storytellers who do the homework.😊

I'm currently suffering a yarn sport injury. I really need to take some time off from knitting but I've only been able to manage 3-4 days!! (And I crocheted during those days) lol

I like the Law & Crime Network court cases (sometimes if the picture or sound isn't great, then Court TV has the same stuff), I'm big into interrogations and if you haven't yet, then check out the Behavior Arts Panel. They are ex military and ex interrogators that break down criminal's behavior and body language. Fascinating
