This is hands down, my favorite UA-cam channel. Whenever I happen upon a new post, it’s like a surprise gift.

I wonder why the BBC hasn't yet invited Robert to work for them.
So far, a very valuable missed opportunity in my opinion.

Agreed. Robert and Dr Becky Smethurst are the two of the most gifted communicators on the subject of astronomy we have in the UK.

I like these type of books. Attempts to cover very wide subjects comprehensively. Like a modern version of the tomes that would have been found in monastery libraries in the 12th century.

Okay, I’m mostly a deep sky observer, but love checking out our Solar System now and then. I stopped this video half way through, and ordered this set from Amazon!
Love this Chanel, keep up the great work!

Excellent review of this set. I am so incredibly excited - I've been away from astronomy for a couple of years, and have a 5" Mak on the way that'll be primarily used for lunar observing with my two boys. Just ordered a set of the hardcover books. What an incredible resource they are going to be!

Thank you for your extremely comprehensive review and letting us discover such an magnificient work. Ordered them almost instantly from one of my regular astro shops. Those looking at it at Amazon beware of some buyers receiving only one of the books and not the full set (!).

By the by note there's a spelling error in the UA-cam thumbnail, "kown" instead of "known".

So the poor old Moscow Sea and Sea of Cleverness will be missing! The most mysterious seas to us non astro/cosmonauts.We will have to speculate if you could see the Moscow Sea naked eye if the Moon spun around and I speculate it would?

Hi Robin - I can't fight you on the size. Reading one volume in bed before making the vid, I must have dozed off, and the book slipped out of my hands and hit the floor with a bang like a .303 rifle shot. I thought it was the last trump. I was wide awake for the next hour. KR RJD A&NTV
