- In Financial Literacy & The Social Media Generation, Nelson Soh posits that the generation born in and after 1985 is unique because of its sense of entitlement, need for instant gratification and access to easy credit. These characteristics have resulted in a generation that is entitled, egotistical, easily persuaded by social media, addicted to material things, and financially illiterate.
In Financial Literacy & The Social Media Generation, Nelson’s idea-worth-spreading is that his generation must make financial literacy an urgent priority. Nelson believes that becoming financially literate creates life-changing opportunities. Failing to do so will have dire consequences.
Nelson Soh is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), author, financial literacy expert, and part of the social media generation. His goal is to help current and future generations succeed in life - personally, professionally and financially. The act of overseeing all these transactions for a business is what we mean when we talk about a company’s financial management.
The bigger the company, the more complicated financial management becomes.
Every business needs to sell products or services, pay expenses, balance the books, and file taxes.
Timothy Eric Meek said that financial management is about controlling the flow of money in and out of the organization.
That is the simplest definition of financial management that i have ever seen. he must be a genius.
When it comes to modern financial gurus, Timothy Eric Meek is among the best out there.
If you don't find a means of multiplying money, you will wake up one day to realise that the money you thought you had, has exhausted. Investment is a ladder to climb the financial wall.
I agree with you mate. Investment is also a bridge to sustaining your financial longevity. And not just any investment but an investment with assured return because there are investment that has no gives no profit.
So how do you get your proper guide and the analysis you mentioned? Because I have incurred huge losses while investing by myself
it's best to have an investment man *ager* who has well acquainted knowledge about Investment, to help you earn from your Investment on your behalf while you oversee the Investment growth, having hundred percent access to your portfolio.
Speaking of investment man *ager* , any recommendation? . I will also want to know if while he/she handles my Investment, is my investment still accessible by me to monitor and authorize any action on the Investment portfolio?
My investment manager is Mrs Roy Kheler, she is knowledged when it comes to investment that assures daily and weekly returns.

To be clear, working just for the money is not the issue. The issue is working for money for the show.
Becoming financially literate is about deeply introspecting the reason of your purchases and fully understanding the opportunity cost.
It does not mean you should never spend on things you don't need, like good cars or vacations.
It means if you are to spend, be honest to yourself about why you spend, and convince yourself that even if the debt deters you from other important life goals, you approve the spend.

The video is very helpful for me as a person who have entered the early years of my adulthood. It is true that with the influence of social media, big ego and a sense of entitlement and easy access to credit, people's judgement are covered up with instant satisfaction of material things, attention from others from social media which make make purchases of unnecessary things and eventually be locked into bad debt. I really don't want myself one day will get into that same situation. Thank you Nelson for giving such educational speech!

I haven't been materialistic since elementary school.
Nelson, this is a message applicable to a majority of individuals in your generation. Financial literacy as you point out brings freedom and relief. Relief not just from indebtedness, but relief from worry, fear, and uncertainty related to paying bills and not being able to save and invest. You also address so eloquently the issue of FOMO, fear of missing out, and how social media has propagated FOMO. Social media breeds discontent, if we are constantly comparing ourselves to the "perfect" lives of others online. Spoiler Alert: no one's life is perfect no matter how good they make it look on social media! Well done, Nelson.

I'm a 16-year-old from Washington I'm going to graduate in a few months and i spend about 6 hours a day studying business and real-estate, what if i told you a year ago i was partying with hella people doing drugs and getting in fights. Kids nowadays are going down the wrong road, i had to self-dripline to become me with nobody's help but my own and kids cry when you call em the wrong pronoun. No hate only love i just hope there's more of me out there

It's nice that he's learned all of the fancy trigger terms, but a ted talk typically takes one of those concepts and really breaks it down and makes us think.
His message was just that he liked social media too much and is easily influenced. I'm from the same generation and I know how to ask - - do I really need to add to cart?

❤Great video. We are all seeking financial independence and a better way of life. This is not difficult to achieve with savvy investing, a frugal lifestyle, and cautious budgeting. I'm glad I learned early on to work hard for financial independence. As Warren Buffet said, he has seen this happen many times in his life. Not an investor, my wife and I never earned more than a middle-class salary. We plan to get retired at 58 with a stock portfolio worth $1.7M. We have never sold so much as one share of stock.

Thank you, Jann! It is so important that everybody has an emergency fund (at least 6 months of expenses saved) for unexpected life events. I encourage you to start creating an emergency fund slowly as it will come in handy when you least expect it! Thank you for your support with our book, Life Literacy.
