I realized now this video had been posted just the day before, what a coincidence. Anyway, there's a moment in the performance that really touches me, which is that Eddie plays the last chord of the bridge a little late, kind of drags it out a bit. It's such a surprising detail... feels like a touch of genius.
I love the dog in the background! I have never tried to learn this song, thanks for reminding us of it. It seems Ed really simplified things for this record. He was very unapologetic for writing a pop song.
My dog (Buki) is a trip. He really loves me, he's my best bud!! And good observation, I feel the same way, Ed wrote great pop songs and it was what it was. Pure, simple and great music! Just Ed!

Hello Marty and tysm for the amazing class. One of the most difficult parts on this song is how to take out those Harmonics. I really know that it needs a lot of work and training the Technics, but if it was easy, it wont be Eddie.

I think It's great that Sammy got the best cat to play in place of Eddie with absolute humbleness Joe S as you probably know... But wow after watching you perfectly showing how it's done now I see why this is such a beautiful song!! 5150 is still a wonderful album and I wore it out for 8 years, until Balance came out. Edward's tone on 5150 & especially OU812 is non-EVH. It's thin & the production quality on both albums is lacking. Balance is a return to a thicker, brownish tone & the production quality is the best of all Sammy-era albums. Keep up the great work, Marty. I enjoy your channel. All the best in 2023.
I will go so far as to say Balance is the best sounding VH album AND the fourth best album in totality (1984, FUCK, VH1). 5150 is my favorite song though and Why Can't This Be Love is my favorite single. But Eddie's playing and tone on Balance is second to none

Would like to know to find a lesson for it. Fretsliding is not it and sliding itself results in tutorials with a metal or glass object on the players finger... It's really a chimey guitar. You may be hearing some Of the string noise coming though my mic. My room volume is low in these videos and record direct with my AX8. It a pretty saturated Friedman BE setting I'm using.
Clearly Eddie was paying attention to alternative rock at that time, as much chord related playing that was in this track. As a n00b C is still not a fun chord to play though, though I am getting a lot better fast.

Balance is criminally underrated and it has replaced 5150 as my favorite Sammy-era album.
