Thank You for posting this video. I can so much relate to all of your feelings and experiences after your Surgery. I’m at 7 months post TLIF L4/L5 Fusion. I can hear through your voice the trauma this experience has caused you. Regarding your feet and the on again off again tingling and numbness, mine comes and goes in my left foot big toe only. Regarding the shoes, I too have been experimenting with soft high arch inserts and orthotics, but what works now with a huge improvement are SAS orthopedic walking shoes with Dr Scholls Big n Tall comfort arch supports. I still go to PT twice a week and the gym spin classes, that adrenaline alone relieves the numb toe . My 6 month X-ray did show that I was fused and heading the right direction. My story is sounding good now , but I was deep in HELL this time last year. Many ER visits, many pills and many heartbreaking nights for my wife, I owe her my life. Hopefully we both come out of this a few years from now and finish this life strong. I’m 59 years old heading for 60 I’m truly grateful for accidentally finding your story.

I appreciate hearing your story! I always like to hear how others are doing and what works for them. Especially with shoes - that is not talked about enough!

Hi, we spoke on this site last month. I had same surgery 14 weeks ago and doing great. I LOVE my sketchers and am walking 3 1/2 to 4 miles daily. Question for you…Does your back and hips ache and be stiff in morning. When I start walk the first quarter or half mile is very achy, then I think I loosen up and feel great. Not yet approved for PT, so walking is it for me. I guess at age of 72 some aches are normal. Any comments.

That is great Pat! You are ahead of schedule.
My back can be a little stiff in the morning but does loosen up quickly. That will get better for you over time I would think.
I had some weird hip pain a few months back that has gone away - I kind of forgot about it until you mentioned it! Nothing you are describing seems odd to me. And you are still early in the recovery process…

      Pat,
I’m 65 years old and 3 months post L3-L4/L4-L5 double fusion. I have the same issue with my back and hips being very stuff and uncomfortable in the morning. I’m sure part of it is our age but from people I have talked to it is very common after lower back surgeries.
