What would help a great deal is to not have overlapping pictures over the translations of the dialogue at the end of each segment. We have to guess what is being said and hope we are right.
I agree, but she did the right thing. Him humiliating himself put them all at risk. His behavior was frowned upon by all of the outer tribes. If they had banded together to depose him, his whole kingdom would have been ripe for takeover. They had to appear solid, moral, and upright to avoid any excuse for others to interfere. Ruyi did what she had to do to secure not only her future but her son’s, as well.
@@roseporras2010 I completely agree. Getting rid of Ling would have solved a whole lot of problems, but the way things seemed to go back then, it could have spawned a whole lot more. The way she dealt with her in the end was probably the best way - finally confronted and punished for all the horrible things she’d done.

The fact that he kept protecting Ling and being angry with Ruyi is proof that if she were to take extreme measures herself to get rid of LIng, the emperor would've doubled it back at Ruyi possibly. At the end, how Ruyi handled it and had others take action was the best choice for her.
Well, if you remember the conversation that she has with the empress dowager when they both go to pray sometime after she unofficially divorces the emperor, she explains exactly what the problem was. The problem wasn't duty. The problem was the emperor. In trusting him so much and loving him so much, she put him before herself and in doing so, put her safe at greater risk. She fought to preserve his health and trying to keep him happy while he fought her tooth and nail every step of the way. She literally "lit herself on fire" to keep him warm and that was her undoing.
The audacity for Ling to say 'You dare' to the Empress herself!! Too proud...

@@Gegewatching 但清朝的後宮制度屬政治聯姻，如懿悲慘下線的原因其一是因為乾隆喜新厭舊，其二是因為如懿的母家在朝廷的影響力已經式微，所以乾隆對如懿的態度自然毫無忌憚；而乾隆對韓香見忍讓多半是因為她年輕貌美，韓部在清朝開疆闢土征服異族這方面並非幫襯最大的藩屬國，寒香見年歲漸長後必定色衰而愛弛（而且他也生不出皇嗣了，更容易被邊緣化），所以若說乾隆在後宮中最不敢得罪的女人，必定是有蒙古49族撐腰的穎妃。
