In this introduction to our latest holiday vlogs we leave the cold and damp North East, head to Newcastle Airport and jump aboard a RyanAir flight to the sun-soaked Isle of Fuerteventura.

That's what I thought. A 6.50 flight doesn't sound bad until you have to be there 2 hours beforehand and factor in getting up and showered, then the drive to the airport!

I think you might be right and I've put the wrong clip in the video, the one on the thumbnail is Fuerteventura.
3:30AM? Yikes. I’m probably getting up for my first of many night time wees at that point! Nice quiet airport though, worth an early start for that. Lovely blue skies on your arrival. That apartment and sunshine would revitalise me for that early start too. Get those shorts on! ❤
4.15am by the time we arrived at the airport and there was still a queue to get through security! It was pretty much blue skies most of the week apart from the two days of Calima but I'd still take it over the weather we're having this week - shorts now sadly packed away until March! I have to comment on this...I was so impressed with the drive to the airport. Even with no traffic, you used the slow lane, only using the overtake lane when passing. I am always impressed by this while I am driving over there how more people follow that rule than over here.

Yeah, we're pretty disciplined over here, probably all those centuries being subservient to the monarchy, or maybe it's that at 3am with nothing on the road there is still a chance of having a BMW/Audi/RangeRover doing 120mph in that outside lane at any moment. 😀 Cheers for watching Paul.

Thanks for watching, Julie and Tony. I'm not sure why RyanAir were so keen to close the gate 20 minutes after they opened it.We didn't take off for another 25 minutes after we were sat in our seats. Luckily the honours of the last ones on the plane fell to another couple!

My bother and sister in law are there now funny enough but I do not know if my knees could take 4.5 hours now, no matter Howe cheap it was. I remember the last time we were in Turkey in 38C and a couple checked into the hotel in jeans and jackets, then walked out in the blazing sunshine still dressed the same.....the airline had lost their luggage lol! Thankfully Ryanair didn't lose ours, I couldn't wait to get out of those jeans - it was just a bit chilly at home for shorts! Thanks for watching Alan.

Thanks, Michelle. Fuerteventura is part of the Canary Islands. They were fiercely fought over because of their location. Both the British and the Spanish tried to claim them because they were considered a good point to stop at whilst heading to the Americas. The Spanish won overall control. They are popular with UK tourists because you're pretty much guaranteed sun all year round, plus there is always an Atlantic breeze because let's face it, Brits aren't good in really hot weather 😀 I hope you and Jim have a great New Year's eve and a fantastic adventure in the Airstream in 2024.

Oh my, I remember those 3:30 a.m. alarm calls when I had to get flights from Halifax to Toronto to head down south...not a stellar feller at that time of day! lol Ahhh...but the sunshine and warm is always worth it! Awesome!! Time for shorts for sure!! Already see a smile on your face! Bruce and Otis
