    I have a list of luxury items .
    But firstly is my camp chair and table . Secondly my sleeping gear . Its my camp streacher and air mattress with a real pillow.
    Nothing worse than a crap nights sleep.
    There is five things of luxury.
    In my gear that are allways with me . Loved your first installment Amy. I have just returned from a week up at loch luna . Looking for a longer trip now . Safe paddles 🐢

      Oh wow, a stretcher is next level, but hey, why not? I absolutely agree a good night's sleep is worth the pay-off of carrying extra gear! I use a zempire monstamat, which does NOT roll up small 😆. Sounds like your Loch Luna trip was a winner! You'll be tripping the whole river in no time! I've got 6 days off work starting Australia day, so heading out for my first long paddle in months... I cannot wait!

      @@AmyOutdoors Yeah I think all their products are pretty good. We have the clear ones, not opaque like yours and can be bright but helps having the dimmer.

    I love your luxuries because they are similar to mine ! I’m a south Australian but take my horses pack saddling in the flinders Rangers but mostly Kosciusko National Park or Victorian High Country!
    I take a real pillow cut down and have one of those lights plus the chair ! I don’t use my Trangia any more as I take my Jetboil but I didn’t realise you can get a gas kit for them ! Love the camp oven ! Really getting interested in kayaking the Murray! I have most of the good gear just need the boat 😂
    Look forward to watching more of your channel 🤠

      G'day Lisa, thanks for commenting! It's great kit, eh? Nothing beats a real pillow. I've tried all the versions of the hiking store pillows, but just take a pillow, cut it down and sew it up... perfect! Lots of folks are considering paddling the Murray now. I loved it... I reckon I'm up there for a "slowest paddle" award, lol... but it was exactly the way I wanted to see it. I reckon horseriding would be similar to canoeing... something else carries all your gear for you, so you can take those extra luxuries!

    Great bit of luxury. The fry pan and camp/ Dutch oven at one time was standard and not luxury, but we live in a different world now I guess... I wish that they made a camp chair like that for us full grown folks, but I guess that's just the way it goes. Keep up the great work!

    • @AmyOutdoors

      My chair, the Helinox Chair Two, is suitable up to 320lbs/145kg, which is about 30% more than all the other chairs I've looked at.
      Yep that cast ironware is great stuff, and so good I don't have to worry about the weight of it in my canoe!

    when I did my first trip from border cliffs and down to paringa via chowilla creek my canoe weight was 195kg with me in it, think I may have to try and lose some of that weight. have been rewatching your 30 day ones to get ideas for from camp sites to packing and cooking. love what you are doing. ps still waiting for Echuca to Swan hill

      Thanks mate, glad you can get some useful stuff from my videos 😊 lightweight and smaller is better in a canoe trip if you have to portage, but so long as you have enough freeboard to handle some rough water it doesn't really matter how much your gear weighs, so long as you're happy to tote it out of your canoe up to your camp each night 😉👍 The next MRX-series videos will be a while off yet - I'm taking a break from editing them while I edit some more recent trips in my new canoe and I'll also try to post this year's expedition before I get back to the MRX series... but I will pick it back up again eventually!

    Awesome luxuries! That lamp looks amazing, I need to look into getting one for sure. I've always just used the knockoff Helinox chairs and done ok but in 2021 it will likely be time to get the real deal. The higher back on yours looks perfect! Thanks for sharing Amy🍻

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Cheers Pete! The lamp is awesome - hasn't skipped a beat yet! I wasn't convinced that spending the extra money on a Helinox chair was a good idea until I was given one as a present - now if it ever does need replacing I'll replace it with another Helinox in a heartbeat - just so darn comfy, and they don't break like all the knock-off chairs I've owned. I'm looking forward to your series mate, how's the editing going?

    Bannock! 🇨🇦😊 I always take a pillow too! What you guys call Camp Oven, we call them Dutch Ovens. I love them as well, especially if the trip allows. And chairs are gold for trips, although I've never taken a table. Luxuries make canoeing more enjoyable!

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Haha, yep 🇨🇦🇦🇺... same same, but different! I've tried a bannock recipe from Maddy the Goose (on UA-cam) and it was great baked... not so awesome in a pan though to be honest.... but maybe I cooked it too fast 🤔
      You guys seem to have so many predetermined camps that have bushcrafted tables, logs to sit on around the fire and fire pits, whereas we tend to have to find a good spot and call it a camp 😉... which means no readymade niceties... so a bring-your-own table is a pretty handy piece of kit!
      I love canoeing for so many reasons... and being able to bring comfy gear is certainly one of them!

    • @ThePursuitofPassion
      @ThePursuitofPassion 4 роки тому +1

      @@AmyOutdoors There are so many variations in ingredients and cooking methods for bannock so it is hard to really know. True re camp furniture, but it is a hit or miss. I prefer not having anything, but will utilize it if it is available.

    Awesome list! That was really good to check out. Completely jealous of the real pillow!
    I’m a big fan of the Trangia gas conversion kit too, I still have mine and take it with me when we do car camping or something. Bringing an actual skillet is something I haven’t thought about before but now just might.
    Thanks for keeping the chain going, haven’t checked out Joshs videos before but am now

      The pillow was a game changer!
      I have to say I also did a little happy dance in the store when I realised that skillet was going to fit my trangia 😆
      Josh is also thinking about paddling the length of the Murray, and may beat me to it if he still decides to launch in October... I wonder if he's started learning how to paddle yet 🤔
