I'm a beginner and have watched a few of your tutorials. Your granny square one is exceptional. I love how you give the reasons behind your I at ructions so the user 'gets' it this one is my absolute favourite tutorial and I feel compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude at the time and effort you out into putting it on here for us amateurs! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! :)
i have been on the search for about a week on how to make a flower and then came across this video and FINALLY did it. i only been doing crochet for about a week already. still need to learn more about it but FINALLY!!!!! thank you!
i know i have said it before...But you rock at teaching. I just love how free you are and the way you say what you want, making the instructions easier to follow. HUGS and this is your FORTE
I really the way you explained this video. I had made a little "clutch" for my daughter but I wasn't finished with it yet...and when I came to this site, and saw what you did, you gave me the perfect ending for that little clutch...thank you for sharing.
Omg!! I did it!! I've only been crocheting for 2 months & I saw this when looking for flowers to do & this one just stuck in my head till I couldn't bear it anymore & so I sat down today to see if I could do it.. And I did!! THANKYOU so much for sharing & making it easy to understand etc.. All your vids are fab might I say. But such joy I'm feeling right now, thanking you Mikey!!! Now I just need to get the colours you show in the preview, not that I don't like the colours in the tut but the re
you can use any hook but remember a smaller hook will make a smaller flower the larger the hook the bigger the flower.....Cathy@ the crochet crowd help desk :)
I just came here to watch a little bit of the video but I find myself mesmerized by it. This is just so cool! I like to crochet but my skills are limited to only making scarves. Now I can learn how to do these flowers and much more! Thank you :)
I just started crocheting a couple of weeks ago and this video on making a flower was really easy to follow. I finished it within the hour =) Thank you so MuCh! I can't wait to watch all of your tutorials
Enjoyed making this flower. This winter I have made many hats. Lost count...most have been donated to different places. Glad to be able to put flowers on some now! Thanks!
Whoo hoo:) cant believe I was able to make this:))))) i taugh myself how to crochet in the past week. I love this flower, PLUS it helps me get the hang on switching colors:)) !
Thanks! I just made one of these and it was very straightforward! Daughter will now have a lovely red and black flower on her crochet headband.... :-))
You...are...amazing. Again, I had to shuffle through a bunch of other videos untill I can to one I understood. I guess I should just come right to you everytime!!! I love the way you go in to detail about the directions. Thank you...truly
I just want you to know, i LOVE your videos other other videos. You go at an appropriate speed, you are easy to follow, your directions are clear, and most importantly i can see you're work! LOL Thank You so much for helping a beginner learn :D
I love this!! Very cute and I love how you added in the edging. Also you are a very fun person to listen to while crocheting, some others voices aren't as pleasurable.
Mikey, I have to say I rather enjoy your tutorials & the variety of stitches I am learning from you. They are so simplistic & informative, sharing your "mess-ups" or "pattern confusions" as well. So we know to expect them & how to work them out. My daughter has asked me to make a shawl for her using these flowers... How would I attach them to make a solid worked piece? Again, thanks so much for doing all of these tutorials for old gals like me that have great difficulty reading a pattern.
@TheLP87able hello....yes sometimes he is grabbing the yarn under and through and other times he's grabbing the yarn over and through...I always go over like you when I crochet..this is just his technique of grabbing the yarn and pulling it through....either way works fine!! Cathy@mikeys helpdesk :)
Thanks for the tip on how to keep that center open by forming the U when you slip stitch!!! That is a part of the circle starts that I always have trouble with. I fight to find the center hole. Now I won't have to!! Thanks! You are awesome Mikey!
Hey awesome video, it was simple enough for me to follow right along with and not get confused over it all. So far I made two of these flowers; first one came out looking like it was mauled by a yard-trimmer, but the second one - made with a larger hook - came out a lot more like yours did. Again thank you for making a video that even beginners such as myself can understand what's going on =) Oh PS: that "third rail" term was a good one =)
Thank you for this great video! I've been having trouble crocheting "in the back" of a stitch, and you explained and showed it so well! Also, I never really knew what to do withe the straggler...thanks for demonstrating that!
you can carry the same color through out the whole project or cut the 1st yarn color and cast off the yarn and then add another one on for a color change cathy @ the crochet crowd helpdesk
Wow just found my comment from 3 years ago!! And here I am back trying to remember the specifics? I was very please with my flower, but I couldn't work out why it was so big compared the my original ones .. Total brain fart or C.r.a.f.t. Moment .. Now I see that you have the small one in one vid & big in the other .. And I have made the big one .. I just forgot that you show how to do both! Lol! I am making fridge magnets out of the small ones. Which I've done before & they look SO cute & divine. But now I've made the big one I think I'm going to add it to my gifts for friends list to "brooches" :)) Thanks so much Mikey, nice to hear your voice again. I haven't been doing many UA-cam tutorials the last year, but I'm back on for some inspiration & reminders etc. Happy hookin lovely man, thanks again :))🎀
@YarnAndGarden hello.....no this will not make a bulge because the straggler lays flat underneath the stitches and you cant even tell its there!!! cathy@mikeys helpdesk :)
First let me say that it took me more than 18 minutes to make this flower, more so like 20, but I crochet slowly, this was a very pretty design. I did it with one color, this really should be done with two colors. Thank you for showing this technique and as slowly as you did. Can I see the work created from this pattern?
You are such a great teacher, I have a pattern that I am having difficulties understanding the last part, would you be able to help me understand better or create a video to teach me?
beautiful i love it! can u do a tutorial on how to make queen ann's lace scarf please? i have clue how to read patterns. thanks a million ur the best michael. love u!
Wonderful videos, the flowers are such a nice touch to the scarves and hats I've made!! I had a question for you, I hope I can word it correctly. When starting a crochet I see that you hook under, then pull through and hook over to finish. Is this just your technique, or is this how it's supposed to be done? I always hook over, I'm not sure if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Hi Mikey and friends, I made this flower and it is beautiful. I put it on a headband. I just love it. Thanks so much for all your great ideas. :)
I LOVE the bracelet you're wearing in this video! Very nice!
I am a new fan. Your demo so well that it put the settings option at the screen bottom at 1.5 x speed to view faster. Third RAIL is a perfect term!
Thanks! I just made one of these and it was very straightforward! Daughter will now have a lovely red and black flower on her crochet headband.... :-))
