Another perfect performance with brilliant visuals, lighting and music to leave you in awe. I never knew music could be like this. Simply sublime!

Absolutely wonderful. Goosebumps all the way.
You can feel David and Richard talking to each other with their instruments.
This track was my introduction to Pink Floyd, in 1971, aged 15, from the Album. ‘Meddle’.
Echoes studio version is a must listen, in my view. Sensational.
🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶
@@eddiecriglington400 I must admit, this was one of the finest performances I ever heard/watched. Sublime!
And watching the Live At Pompei
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Don’t forget the Pompeii performance of ‘Comfortably Numb’, I sent you. 👍🏼 🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶
Echoes studio version is the best work of art humanity ever produced. I'm not joking.

The genius of never being in a hurry is the magic of Pink Floyd music. David Gilmour is the goat of slow hand guitar. Brilliant

I was so excited to see you react to this live version of 'Echoes'. It is my personal favorite version of the song; in my view, mature and fully realized musically and as a stage production. It is magical that David Gilmour and Richard Wright, at this point in their careers (in 2006) could perform it together just as they had in Pink Floyd in the early 1970s. I love how they transition through each section so seamlessly. My favorite part is the build-up to David's guitar part near the end of the song, right before they come back in with the vocals. Richard Wright died in 2008, and with that, David no longer performs 'Echoes' in concert, as he felt it was a musical conversation between himself and Richard. I am so appreciative that after Pink Floyd disbanded, David asked Richard to perform with him on his solo tours, so a bit of Floyd remained in the sounds they created. Of Richard, David said this: '"No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend. A sweet, modest and discreet man, who with his melancholic voice and his way of playing had vital and magical components for some of Pink Floyd's best-known songs". David Gilmour just released a new album a few days ago, Luck & Strange.' The album features a keyboard part performed by Richard at a jam session they did in 2007, so even today, their musical conversation continues.
@@sarastromseth-troy3323 fantastic comment, thank you for taking the time to write it, great info
Just a great experience!

Absolutely great reaction! Loved watching you react to this. I’ve heard this a thousand times and I still get chills listening to it! Look forward to more Pink Floyd reactions.
Remember this… David’s guitar is plugged directly into his soul.
@@user-audioTec76 so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Great description, his ethereal guitar style is definitely heaven sent!!!
We all know about David and how brilliant he is.................but now that Richard is gone, may people try and understand just how important he WAS to the sound and history of The Floyd ........
Some music is just woven into the very fabric of time and space, like Beethoven or Pink Floyd. How lucky I feel to have been alive to witness this in the '70's, for me the most magical teen years I could imagine. Us old timers may be dying off, but thankfully we have a new generation to carry the torch of our sacred music into the future.
Long live the silver tops of the 60s and 70s ✨️🎶✨️
@@martinellis7156 I agree that I'm lucky to be exploring them now, but for sure you got the golden years when this stuff was first released and experienced at the time it was meant to be and could appreciate it in its entirety. Hold on to those memories for they are sacred!
Richard Wright was indeed the keyboard player. He died in 2008 from cancer, this recording was made in 2006. David Gilmour retired the song, because he felt that parts of it were a conversation between the two. It is played by other bands though, such as Nick Mason's "A Saucer Full Of Secrets"
Ah, I like that Gilmour called it a conversation, I caught that although my tennis analogy was perhaps slightly less poetic than Gilmour's wording 😂. Sad to hear about Richard Wright. Retiring the song is a nice way to honor his memory
Wow, Wow, Wow....!!!

@@RonnieMcNairney indeed. Hope you saw your little shoutout I gave you and 2 other on my LZ video from the other day Roadie?! 🙂
You just keep getting into the best of the best. My favorite musicians. Gilmour is not that technically advanced at the guitar, he can't play fast, but he is probabaly the greatest guitarist of all time. He just finished his new live album and he is tourning a little bit. I love him so much, I will literally fly to Rome to see him. This is probabaly my favorite song ever, behind Stairway To Heaven.
@@reflect916 he certainly demonstrated his masterful skills here, as you said not fast playing, yet everything he did was deliberate and well thought out. Now you've told me he still tours a little I'll have to keep an eye out!!
You have good taste. For me, it’s Echoes, then Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks.

Actually the crowd doesn't recognise the music,"It's New to them" so they just stand there, and learn from the experience they'll never forget.
Wow, even better!!!
The crowd recognised two masters at work. Something that’ll never be experienced ever again.
The last time David and Rick played Echoes. Perfection.
@@steveboyes2090 💯
Oh man, this concert is just amazing… Echoes; High hopes (this version is better than Pulse ‘cause they played it with an orchestra in Gdansk); and a song of his own property (not from Pink Floyd): On An Island, very beauty song… the melody of its solo is so so good!
💯 Couldn't agree more. This was musicianship at it's finest!
You should watch Echoes live at Pompeii
It shows not only the perfect interplay and musical harmony between Richard Wright and David Gilmour, but also how incredible you can feel their warm relationship and friendship. It always moves me.
This is a true masterpiece! And I have to say, I like the version from this concert the best of all. Maybe the fans will curse me, but for me it's better than Live at Pompeii. There is of course the amazing atmosphere of the ancient amphitheatre setting, but Echoes in Gdansk is unique in that it is the last time anyone has heard it live. After Rick's death - two years later - Gilmour said he would never play it again without him - and he didn't. Their friendship is evident from this, too.
@@lubos1207 having not seen the other live version I suppose I can't have an opinion on that, all I know is that the Gdansk show absolutely blew me away. And what a lovely piece of respect by David Gilmour to retire the song after the lost of Richard
Nice one
This was epic in every sense of the word!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions I'll echo that statement 😀 I've got my Albert Hall tickets for later this year...will be fab !!
And you sir are absolutely correct....he is a genius ...lol
@@dougieyou 🤣💯
Guy Pratt, the bass guitar player, isn't highly mentioned by the reviewer, but is doing an incredible job. I understand that since the heartbreaking death of Richard "Rick" Wright in 2008, in honor of Rick, David Gilmour has said he will never perform this masterpiece again. The brilliance of this work of musical art should be shared equally between co-composers David and Rick, whether it's lyricist and co-composer Roger Waters playing bass, or Guy Pratt. Or whether it's co-composer Nick Mason playing drums, or Steve DiStanislao.
Australian Pink Floyd do this brilliantly (along with lots more!!) Seeing them later this year, can't wait.
@@Rolling_Ronnie sounds like it's gonna be a great gig, if it's half as good as this it's gonna be an enjoyable experience for you! 👍

Oh, seeing this now after I gave you the Syd Barrett-era Floyd story, Dave Gilmour was Syd’s close friend and sometime guitar partner. He replaced Syd in the band, which was weird for all.
Saw Floyd 4 times ❤
Echoes is, actually, a 3 minute song, but it extends in time through a wormhole

Glad you enjoyed that, Steve. And of course we love you lol Echoes is my favourite piece from the 'Meddle' album. I did manage to see Pink Floyd perform 'The Wall' at Earls Court many moons ago. @@michaellomax2 Hahaha I guess Love just hurts sometimes 🤣🤣
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions well, rock group NAZARETH did a version of the song 'Love Hurts' back in the 70s 😊
This and Atom Heart Mother were the first suites of music to take me on a journey. Then they produced Dark Side Of The Moon and set the bar even higher!!
It's been described by David as a musical conversation between him and Rick, and he wouldn't perform Echoes after Rick passed.
@@marymargaretmoore9034 well they certainly delivered on that front for that's exactly how it came across, fantastic stuff!
Good to see you checking out some good music. If you have nt heard of The Alan Parsons project, try out their song called La Sagrada Familia, or a piece they have called Pipeline. You will really enjoy them.
@@het53 I've heard the name but never explored beyond that. I'll add them to the list, thanks for recommending
Yes, Richard Wright is the keyboardist. He was an original member of Pink Floyd, and most of their actual music flowed from the hearts, souls and skills of David and Richard. Richard died not long after this concert, and David has said he will not play Echoes anymore, as it is pointless without Rick. And yes David's playing, and singing is heaven sent. This concert was in part to promote David's solo album "On An Island", though they played many old Floyd tunes as well. If you really want to bask in the heavenly glow of David's brilliance watch this video on the making of On An Island... it is like nectar of the angels:

@@AntonyFleck I would definitely say this is the best I've heard from gilmour so far on the pink Floyd type journey, stunning is an understatement.
Richard Wright, yes, the keyboardist and his final performance of Echoes.
@@vickiejenkins-tripp5994 it was phenomenal
For your information that screeching seagull sound in the middle of the song, is something unique that Gilmour discovered by accidentally reversing the leads from/to a "wah wah" pedal. It is described and replicated in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/3EYwhxCsKFg/v-deo.html ( David Gilmour Echoes Seagull sound )
Great reaction, sir. This version of Echoes blows the 1971 Pompeii performance out of the water. When you get a chance, try David's amazing musical composition, The Narrow Way (parts 1-3), from the early Pink Floyd album, Ummagumma. It's a tour de force of experimental psychedelic sound, capped off at the end by the mesmerizingly beautiful part 3.
@@balthazartrumpi6808 Thank you. Sounds right up my alley that recommendation. Appreciate it

Superiori .
Pink Floyd formed in 1966
They didn’t realty release a singly until 1979 they just didn’t give a fuck and I adore them
What you are describing as the “volley” between guitar and keys, is called “call and response”. It’s used allot by Zeppelin between Jimmy’s guitar and Robert’s vocals.
@@helenespaulding7562 oh of course, someone mentioned that (maybe you) on a previous LZ reaction I did. Thanks
In many ways Richard Wright provided the melodic soulful texture on which the classic irrefutable sound of Pink Floyd rested. For further proof of this check out "Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5", Studio version first.
