Hey! I'm not sure if you know already about this but I just want to share what I've discovered by experimenting stuffs. There's a way to gain POWER CHARGES automatically by just getting the RESONANCE passive in your passive skill tree then get the COMBAT FRENZY buff. This will give you constantly power charges whenever you electrocute or freeze an enemy without even using siphoning strike or any skills to collect power charges. Hope this helps!
Yea, i thought every monk player discovered this already. Build via frenzy is so convenient to play. That game become kinda boring. You just click mobs with 2 skills always full on power charges.
Glad you helping the people. But i dont want to ruin what your saying but "monks players" like me knew this a week ago already but its a good reminder for cadets
This works for freeze, but we don’t have a way to electrocute. We shock. You would need to transition your skills to have cold/freeze to take advantage of this. If you’re NOT doing that, then using siphoning strike is the next best option for just lightning builds.
so happy to find someone building almost exactly what I am building. I havent run any guides either, so its caused me to have some differences, but I may have to try this...
It's ironic ur not the first one to say that about monk but I've found money the easiest character for me. Absolutely powerhouse. I practically have a similar build but I accidently put frost rune on my quarter staff
Best. Guide. Ever. The fact that you talk about Left-Click, that's something no other guide includes! This guide actually recommends what to use as the primary attack and offers alternatives. Best. Guide. Ever.
Solid Guide, Very Informative, to the point on skills and tree, no BS and solid logic behind all choices. You SIR, earned a sub. Keep up what you are doing because you are doing great.
If you want it a bit easier to get things shocked, you can also find the "Wake of Destruction secured leggings" to shock the ground for siphoning strike
I was doing raxx's ice monk and while it does tons of damage, it lacked survivability for me when i got to mapping. Switched off all the crit nodes and changed ascendencies to defensive nodes like you outlined and ive been having vastly more success shoving my stick into faces. Thanks!
ive noticed alot of builds are throwing survivability out the window and taking straight damage and it leads to this game play of kill or be killed in one shot XD
I'm in a similar boat as you, started with raxx's build, switched to zizarians (much faster and more fun), now switched to this build, which has TONS of survivability and I'm still getting wrecked, even more so than before oddly enough. Raxx said he died 16 times on monk and 0 times on witch, im leads me to believe that he's stacking evasion/energy shield and resistances, or I should just quit this game.
Amazing video! Probably a lot of people already asked but it would be nice to have a Guide for Gear. Ive never played poe1 so im new in to poe and its a bit hard to understand whats good for every character so a gear guide would be amazing :D
Excellent and detailed guide., especially with the passives. I've been building something similar by chance but this has given me the refinement i was looking for. Thanks man! Subbed.
Never played Poe but something told me to get monk, and soon as I got flurry the game became so much better and now can’t wait til level 9 and charge staff
1st time here on your channel. Awesome introduction to Monk class and OP build that looks amazing and fun! Very much appreciated, looking forward more in depth details of skill tree and class mechanics boosted by upgrades etc.
Hi, I created and play almost this build from the beginning and I must say I really enjoy it. I had started a week ago and finished Act3 and fortunately since you posted this video I enjoyed it before they nerf it.
@ Well, it is still very good and effective. Focused on physical damage with lightning dmg and shock. Combine it with power charges and energy shield and also gain life on kill/hit. Then you need mana regen, which I have mostly from items. No tank but regen is very fast and energy shield absorbs those big hits. Check the passive skill tree, look for power charge, physical damage, lightning, atrack speed, power charge + energy shield and evasion. And use the spirit for the auras with rolling and shocking.
Thanks for the guide ❤ Just got to level 14 and unlocked Tempest Flurry… wow what a game changer lol, melting everything now lol. Lvl 1 - 13 is very dull tho 😂
If your starting new you can easily equip a bow or a staff with fireball/ice blast in your off hand that way you have some range capabilities to get through until you get some skills and gear.
@ErmzPlas this is so insane I do the exact same build , logic but not with lightning, I'll do it with ice and cold and it's the exact same build just the other element. Element, so glad to found this video. You are doing great and that's why I know I am doing great as well in Poe 2
I know you were trying to keep the video short but it would have been nice to have a quick section on skill rotation. Great video though, thank you sir!
If you didn't know. There's a single passive on the tree that reduces your evade by 70% howevercit allows you to EVADE ALL ATTACKS. You can even evade those aoe 1 tap attacks where you should usually be in the safe area. I haven't died since. It's located close to the quarter staff passives, this mean you can reallocate those evade passives and roll other stats other than evasion. Sorry can't remember what the passive iis called but it's a larger passive slot just below the quarter staff passives
@@usernameistaken666 You can evade more type of hits. By default you can only dodge Projectiles and Strikes. With it you can evade Hits from AoE and stuff too.
i find ice build a lot faster on normal/blue/yellow mobs, and a lot easier when doing ascendency trials. with herald of ice + shattering palm + hand of chayula applying multiple cold debuffs, you basically dash all over the screen with your palms to put debuffs on a handful of mobs, then kill just one of them with ice strike, and watch your entire screen explode in chain reaction. super satisfying and excellent clearing speed. but the build in this video does look like it kills bosses a lot faster than ice monk. maybe i'll try it when i get bored of my current build.
Dear Ermz. I switched from Perma-Freeze to your build but ive come into a huge problem. Im lvl 46 rn and i cant keep my Stacks up all the time. What do i miss at this point? I can see your buff is up for almost 1min. My buff is up for only 14 seconds. Also i cant get the Buff asap. Would love to get some help here. Further i would like to thank you for the time and effort with this vid. Keep up the great work. Little site note. If you want to provide this build in detail as a writen version you can use Mobalytics and share your builds there. Cheers and have a great day
you should try cast on shock or freeze with ball of lightning, but it will melt your mana very quickly, so instead change it to use your life instead of mana and have huge live regen from hit :>
What kind of gear should one be looking for with this? Evasion or Energy Shield? What traits attack speed? I know gear is so varied, but what stats on gear are the most important would be really helpful.
This is by far the best build on this game that I have tried ( got merc, sorcress and warrior all 22+) and id go as far as I've never had a build melt bosses like this on any of this genre of games I've played ( maybe i am not very good?). Very very very good - not really got the syphoning strike working yet?. Still a Tempest Fury & Bell melts all and a bit of Storm Wave if they get to close.
Awesome guide brother! Love the work you put in!💪 do you have any tips for what type of armour to wear? I know it’s a silly question but should this build be wearing more robe like armour vs heavy plated armour?
Awsome guide, I miss only a little explanation what armor to look for, because I went for full evasion and have no Energy Shield and also as lvl 36 I have only 16 Spririt from ascendency passive (250+- evasion on armor and 1400 in total). Need to find a way to get some more Energy Shield items and somehow reach at least 30 spirit for 1 buff 😂 But still very solid build even I miss few things
I've been following this build and just noticed a couple of the gems you've got socketed aren't compatible with the skills they're in. For example, I was socketing Primal Armament, and noticed it has an "X" on Charged Staff on the "Supportable Skills" window.
Hey! Thanks for the guide! I play a little bit different build but your suggestions related to defences and that helmet really helped a lot to improve my survivability. Update: Just wanted to clarify one thing with you related to the Herald of Thunder. In the guide you went through it's support skills but how do you trigger shock(HoT get stacks only if you kill a shocked enemy) if you use that unique helm? From my understanding in situation where you pick up that helm then that aura is only used for extra damage %?
Hi there, don't know you, first time seeing your videos. You might wanna check what youtube offers as builds for monk, because you miss a lot of cool tricks with the build, the skills, the tree, etc. Good luck for the future.
Thx for vid, great guide, testing it rn. Subed, liked, looking forward to see the gears. One question left - why did you skip the north-eastern branch of lightning damage? Wild storm's multiplicative 15% seems to be good, as well as lightres penetration from Exposed to the Storm, doesn't it? Is it possible to trade something to get it, or it just doesn't worth it and there is enough dps even w\o it in the endgame?
Hi nice build, love it, do you have in the mean time already a gear build, ore can you tell me what to look fore. im going on the right way but to be sure. thank you!!!!
sorry if its been posted prvsly but to gain power charges why not take combat frenzy with profusion along with the Resonance node on the tree? Edit: nvm, i saw a post further down thats basically said the same thing lol.
Yeah this is quality content man. Really love your video. Like and subscribed. Love the build. But a planner would be helpful. Unless you’re just following one as well in which linking it would be nice.
i didnt use tempest bell for quite sometime as i read it and thought nah thats rubbish, then i got stuck and ended up trying it out. i see people going on about certain bosses and once they get to this part it gets harder. the bell dropping on their position and tempest flurry into it just melts them. its crazy. hope they dont nerf it into the ground though
Since there's been people asking about a build planner, I used the video to make one for maxroll, the id is 1y1ro00e Feel free to take that one Ermz and do as you wish with it, it's currently just an exact copy of what was said in the video. Skill tree broken down into stages according to order in video, and alternate tree with 4 nodes changed for the version if people get the helmet. The armor is placeholder, can be ignored.
Thanks for this advice you have posted.....I have managed to get my monk past act one and am rocking through Act 2, not yet at ascension yet....but will get there (do you have any advice for the trials with your build asides from what you've gone over here? I'm planning on waiting till the end of act 2 to do my trials, is this good thinking or should I just go through them?
PoE2 is my first aRPG (coming from a bunch of soulsborne games). I'm on controller and picked monk. Completely blind, I grabbed the Bell, all lightning quarterstaff techniques, and pumped all the attack/skill speed, damage, and evasion stats up on the skill tree. I feel like I accidentally figured out an OP build on my first playthrough. I'm steamrolling areas (sans the random 1 shots).
Hi nice build but noticed that you don't have a lot of penetration, have you considered picking up Sunder my enemies and going full crit chance? I think the damage potential skyrockets when you can just ignore resistances.
I like the video, but I have a question about one of your support skills. Namely Concentrated Effect. Now I am new to POE (played the first a little bit, but not much) but on that support ability you said it increases your damage by 40% but you lose 50% of the AOE. On the actual tooltip of the support crystal it says "Supports any skill with an area of effect" Wouldn't this not apply to the ability you added it to as there isn't any AOE for it to support?
in act 3 when you can choose between a vial of permanant added stun/elemental threshold or mana regen what is the go to here ? also noticed that act 3 cuel gives chaos res so im guessing by then we go for that? maybe also an updaet on the build would be nice or taken how Gathering Storm is working, tested the skill and was like why isnt it generating any charges and then the line Perfect channel clocked in seems like a really redundat way when you need to get a "perfect" channel but anyways it does some dmg atleast
Against mobs, you can utilize profane ritual to consume corpses for power charges. Basically allows for near endless power charges. Increase spell casting speed to further enhance this. Against bosses, you can put the 100% shock bonus on the bell to guarantee shocks to absorb for power charges. This enhances shocks on boss thus allowing for more frequent shocks via wave and or flurry. When I do this, I basically do the combo as follows: flurry until boss shocked, drop bell, siphon strike on bell (for 1 powercharge), trigger charged staff, spam siphon strike until bell disappears. This set gives me 3 to 5 power charges and allows me to go straight into another bell with a charged staff to flurry If you include the gem that gives a 50/50 shot of not consuming charges on charged staff skill, you can now easily collect 5 power charges, trigger charged staff, then if you still have the power charges, use falling thunder. Or if you don't like combos and you just want to spam 2 attacks endlessly... resonance + combat frenzy
Im struggling with surviving in the cruel part of campaign. Any tips? Whats a good evasion or energy shield number i should aim for? Love the guide also!
That's definitely quite unusual with this build. I actually found the game got way *easier* in Cruel. It's possible that your gearing has fallen behind - that's quite common. Make sure that your resists are at least above 20% across the board (at a minimum) and that you've rolled a really good yellow (rare) quarterstaff. Having the right staff can really make or break the build.
So is "One with the River" node worth it if we don't have that conversion equipment piece? The 30% defences to staff I feel is bugged/wrong since everything else is quarterstaves in the tree. Does the 30% stun buildup change that much vers using the points somewhere else?
Bro how do you have so much energy shield ?? i have only 150 at level 67.... i think my equip is not that great, but it would help if you can tell what kind of equips we should be looking at like armor with evasion rating + armor or jsut evasion rating... and so on so forth.
I did almost all of this besides some of the passive skills and I dont get any charges.. how does the siphoning strike collect the charges? You didnt show it. Good video tho!!
Please make a build guide. I've watched the video 15 times. You don't cover support gems for all skill early on. Monk is the worst class I've played. But it looks the most fun in end game. Help us get there! For reference, I've spent 30 hours on monk. I'm level 23. I started a ranger. 36 hours. Level 48....
Does one with the River 30% to defense only work with Staffs as it states in the tool tip? It's odd that it doesn't state quarterstaves like everything else.
If you feel your defenses aren't sufficient and that energy shield is one of the weak points, seems like a decent 4 point additional investment. Earlier on maybe sacrifice a small amount of damage for it if you're feeling squishy.
I experimented with this, but opted to go for a more DPS-heavy build because I like the exciting, bursty gameplay. I'm not a hardcore guy so the occasional death doesn't bother me. But it's definitely a valuable option if you prefer a bigger survival pool. That's the great thing about this build - you have the room to tailor it to yourself.
For my quarterstaff, where should I focus? I do have right now Lighting, Cold DMG, and Attack Speed. But I have another with Critical Hit, Damage, Physical Damage and Cold Damage.
Nice Video! I was using a similar build but mapping with "on death effects" from small Mobs is so unenjoyable u play in constant fear of exploding :D u have any solutions for that maybe ?
Hey! I'm not sure if you know already about this but I just want to share what I've discovered by experimenting stuffs. Now I am new to POE (played the first a little bit, but not much) but on that support ability you said it increases your damage by 40% but you lose 50% of the AOE. On the actual tooltip of the support crystal it says "Supports any skill with an area of effect" Wouldn't this not apply to the ability you added it to as there isn't any AOE for it to support?
i like the build perfect ... auto subs for you
Would this be a good build for Hardcore? In terms of survivability and ease of early game?
maybe i missed it what supportige gems to use for storm wave? thank you!!
in act 3 when you can choose between a vial of permanant added stun/elemental threshold or mana regen what is the go to here ? also noticed that act 3 cuel gives chaos res so im guessing by then we go for that?
maybe also an updaet on the build would be nice or taken how Gathering Storm is working, tested the skill and was like why isnt it generating any charges and then the line Perfect channel clocked in seems like a really redundat way when you need to get a "perfect" channel but anyways it does some dmg atleast
so u are spinning while shooting projectiles?are those 2 different moves or do u have to switch 2 diferent moves contatntly?
This set gives me 3 to 5 power charges and allows me to go straight into another bell with a charged staff to flurry
If you include the gem that gives a 50/50 shot of not consuming charges on charged staff skill, you can now easily collect 5 power charges, trigger charged staff, then if you still have the power charges, use falling thunder.
Or if you don't like combos and you just want to spam 2 attacks endlessly... resonance + combat frenzy
Hello, what kind of stone do you have in your staff? I still don't understand, thank you very much
Im struggling with surviving in the cruel part of campaign.
Does gathering storm not cause shocked ground anymore? Doesn’t seem to work for me.
So is "One with the River" node worth it if we don't have that conversion equipment piece? The 30% defences to staff I feel is bugged/wrong since everything else is quarterstaves in the tree. Does the 30% stun buildup change that much vers using the points somewhere else?
Hello, pretty new to arpgs. Which stats should I go for in my equip if I want to follow this build?
Int. and Dex.
Bro how do you have so much energy shield ?? i have only 150 at level 67.... i think my equip is not that great, but it would help if you can tell what kind of equips we should be looking at like armor with evasion rating + armor or jsut evasion rating... and so on so forth.
What do you think about Resonance in the skill tree + Combat Frenzy Skill?
Would it be possible to share your build in Mobalytics or someone else, thanks.
Can you post your build on maxroll or mobalytics
What type of armor would you recommend, more shield/evasion , armor/shield, Armor/evasion?
the build synergizes with energy shield + evasion. prioritize evasion.
I did almost all of this besides some of the passive skills and I dont get any charges.. how does the siphoning strike collect the charges? You didnt show it. Good video tho!!
concentrated effect should go on bell. more damage than on flurry
Monk is the best class in the game ur just sh** with it
His experience compared to my experience reminds me of Arcane Season 2 Episode 7.. 💀
The reference went over my head completely, but I certainly hope this build helps you have a better experience!
Can you share stats and equipment?
Does one with the River 30% to defense only work with Staffs as it states in the tool tip? It's odd that it doesn't state quarterstaves like everything else.
What are your thoughts on speccing into Spectral Ward to get Energy Shield from Evasion?
If you feel your defenses aren't sufficient and that energy shield is one of the weak points, seems like a decent 4 point additional investment. Earlier on maybe sacrifice a small amount of damage for it if you're feeling squishy.
I experimented with this, but opted to go for a more DPS-heavy build because I like the exciting, bursty gameplay. I'm not a hardcore guy so the occasional death doesn't bother me. But it's definitely a valuable option if you prefer a bigger survival pool. That's the great thing about this build - you have the room to tailor it to yourself.
The Trolly comment, make me choke on my Coffee. HAHAHAH - SUB gained, Great build. Trying it now.
Can you let me know which weapons, armour and helmet you use in your build please?
For my quarterstaff, where should I focus? I do have right now Lighting, Cold DMG, and Attack Speed. But I have another with Critical Hit, Damage, Physical Damage and Cold Damage.
Nice Video! I was using a similar build but mapping with "on death effects" from small Mobs is so unenjoyable u play in constant fear of exploding :D u have any solutions for that maybe ?
