As mentioned below the character here is Stolas. A demon prince in Hell. He is in love with the main character Blitz. The relationship started via a negotiated situation where they would meet together once a month on the full moon for relations. Stolas being an isolated prince in Hell does not know how to form a proper relationship and only knows that he is very drawn to Blitz and wants to be with him. Thus he starts the relationship off via force within a particular situation. And over time both develop feelings for each other. But that contractual nature of the relationship is there causing a rift. The gem at the beginning of the video is the means by which Stolas can sever the need of the contractual arrangement in such a way that Blitz is given not only his freedom but also the ability to continue his job which was dependent on the arrangement. So the choice and crux of the problem Stolas is dealing with is if he gives Blitz his freedom will he look his way and continue the relationship or simply walk away once the ties are cut. And it is breaking our poor little bird prince's heart. And now you are hooked on an amazing series. Congrats.

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, Bryce Pinkham has an incredible voice, you can tell he's a Broadway star. Amazingly, this is a song made by a fan that the team loved enough to turn into an official music video.
Helluva Boss is a fantastic show but fair warning, it's an edgy dark adult comedy about demons in Hell and the early episodes especially are VERY over the top. It's been fun to watch reactors fall in love with this beautiful haunting music video and then be shocked by the difference :) But the show does get to this emotional place, gradually.
If you don't feel like diving right into the depraved murderfest, I can recommend some slightly gentler alternatives:
- Episode S2E1 of Helluva Boss, "The Circus", is all about the backstory of the sad owl demon in this video. It can stand on its own and it's really good.
- Episode S2E7, "Mammon's" (etc), spoils some plot twists in the show but is very watchable on its own if you decide you don't care about that. It's a musical episode that absolutely kicks ass.
- Fans have made some outtake videos of "You Will Be Okay", another song from the show that's Stolas singing a lullaby to his daughter.
- There's another show by the same creators called "Hazbin Hotel", set in the same universe, that's coming out next month on Prime. The original pilot is free to watch on UA-cam, it also kicks ass, and it too has an official music video called "Addict" with a song made by a fan.
It's not a TV show, it's a UA-cam series made by a small group of independent animators with a small budget.
Even if it isn't Cannon anymore, it's worth starting with the pilot episode rather than episode 1, it introduces the characters better and has one of the best jingles I've ever found
This song depicts the evolving nature of a relationship that started out out as a mere buissnes thing. "I frigg you, you give me what I want" But now, Stolas (the Character that sings) wants it to be more, meanwhile Blitz, the other part of this, is deeply selfloathing and not really able to open himself up to the possibilty of a relationship with someone he believes is just using him anyway.
Add to that a giant Class divide, as in, Stolas could kill Blitz with no consequences and you have a recipe for absolute tragedy.
The Helluva Boss series is so good songs wise. It’s a bit dark and unhinged but I love it very much especially the Blitz and Stolas relationship
The VA for Stolas has done ALOT of musicals outside of the show, his voice is just really really good for musicals.

Stolas, a demon of noble birth, finds himself contemplating his next course of action. He has completely transformed his life for Blitzø, a demon of lower social standing, whom he has come to love. However, Stolas is uncertain about Blitzø's feelings towards him. Blitzø believes that he is undeserving of love and assumes that Stolas is only interested in their physical relationship, perceiving no genuine emotional connection between them.
Stolas realizes that if he desires their relationship to progress beyond a mere contractual arrangement, he must allow Blitzø to make a choice. The basis of their contract is a mutual benefit. In simple terms, Blitzø requires access to the human realm to run his business, and Stolas possesses a book with the power to grant him that access. Stolas grants Blitzø permission to use his book, and in return, they spend one night together every month.
By giving Blitzø a crystal, Stolas effectively terminates their contract. With the crystal, Blitzø no longer requires Stolas' book, rendering their monthly encounters unnecessary. Stolas is prepared to express his true feelings to Blitzø and hopes that Blitzø will reciprocate. However, Stolas is also apprehensive about the possibility of heartbreak once he relinquishes the crystal, as he fears losing Blitzø.
Another interesting thing about this song is that it was originally a FAN-MADE song that the creators of the series decided to use! The original creator is PARANOiD DJ.

Nope, it's the voice actor. The original singer and songwriter is PARANOID DJ, and incredible artist in their own right. He's made MANY songs for this and the connected Hazbin Hotel series.

Going from this video (which takes place halfway through season 2), directly to the Pilot or Episode 1 of the series, will be a bit of tonal whiplash, I’m warning you now. 😅
That said, Helluva Boss is a fantastic series, and you’ll start seeing the deeper themes in it as early as episode 2. (I feel like the show really starts hitting its stride by episode 5, but even the episodes before then are pretty damn fun. 😊)
It’s mainly a dark adult comedy series, but it tackles some more serious topics, too, and the relationships in it are fairly layered and complex. Also, the lore is a lot of fun to dive into.

The type of character that Stolas is in the pilot is way different from the rest of the series. Which makes sense, seeing as he was supposed to be an antagonist until they thought it would be cool to make him the way he is now.

Yeah helluva boss is a good show, but it’s definitely not kid friendly
Episode 1, isn’t the best, in fact it’s been decided that it’s not canon, it’s not bad just not nearly as powerful as every other episode which are all amazing
Pilot is noncanon, episode 1 is really a moxxie episode. Episode 2 is a Stolas episode.
