In Thailand they smile a lot but the smiles are fake, they are reconstructed, but in Vietnam when we smile it's real and natural. Our smiles are true

I’m mean sometimes the smiles are fake. I’d agree if you’d say it’s less common to see a fake smile in Vietnam though, I think Thai people has one of the most genuine people in the world in my opinion :)

I feel genuine warmth coming from thai people despite me being khmer(historical animosity between thai and khmer). I also feel the same kind of warmth from chinese people. But for some reason, I do not feel this warmth emanating from many vietnamese I've encountered and interacted with. They are ice cold... I thought the chinese would be quite similar to vietnamese due to the culture and mixed ancestry of many vietnamese with partial chinese ancestry. I was totally wrong. I don't know what is it about vietnamese in general? Not trying to sound negative but just my experience with them! If there is a group I could compare them to, it's Russians. Russians are similar in that they're not very expressive or animated or warm and friendly on first impression. But, I've known and interacted with several vietnamese for over a year and they are still not as warm as I'd expected someone to be after getting to know them even after 1 year.

I prefer VN much more than Thailand , every tourist spot in Thailand all I see is bars after bars , massages parlours , hookers and many old white tourist come for sex tours with young Thai girl , lots of places filthy , sleazy , Thailand still the prostitute capital in the world , this is not a family friendly place to take your children for holiday because they will see thing you don’t want to exposed them to , that why I don’t travel to Thailand but VN .

We that live here in Vietnam often shake our head by listening to bloggers asking tourists about " facts".
By traveling to a place and hanging our for a couple of days and expressing an opinion is a little silly. Food in Vietnam is known for its delicacy, safety and its viareity. Also compare to the US, there are no-one doing drugs, no needles littering the streets, no guns in sight nor anyone living in a tent or sleeping it off .. in full public view. Welcome to Vietnam were things are civilized and orderly and live comfortable for $1000/month.Cheers.

It's hard to understand what US politicians and law makers think. I find squatters' right in US is funny and allowing South American illegal immigrants in is a big mistake. Lots of stores owners decided to close or leave because of the lootings by these migrants. Homelessness has been a big problem for American citizens in recent years now let them in the simple question is how to house them, schooling the migrants' children, cloth them let alone health care for them. Jobs for them when most of them speak little English and low level of education.

Having been in Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok I enjoyed Bangkok more so and a big reason was public infrastructure; having the MRT, BTS so on made getting around the city much easier. Both cities have their perks and I think as Ho Chi Minh develops more public infrastructure it will become more comparable to Bangkok.

I was in Danang 10 days as a solo traveler and i wont go back there..nothing is bad but when comparing to Thailand or Philippines it´s just boring..most of the city are massage parlors and restaurants, as a family or as a couple it can be nice for sure but i honestly didn´t know what to do much in the evenings..dating in short term is almost impossible, sitting alone in bars and restaurants is not too much fun either after a while, i even enjoyed Malaysia much more, Vietnam just has a heaviness that other south east Asian countries dont habe imo

Nice work, lots of interviews, and many subtitle options. 🙂 However, I think a large "professional" microphone gives off a "serious interview" vibe and could make people apprehensive. I'd switch to a smaller mic, like many people use, for a more casual atmosphere and to put your subjects at ease. Cheers!

I have been to Vietnam a number of times and currently doing a month in Nha Trang. I have to agree with the guy from Las Vegas about street food in Vietnam being a bit suspect compared to Thailand. I would even say its hard to find cheap good food in Vietnam and you end up buying ready made meals from supermarkets and such to avoid suspect dirty street food and so so food in over priced restaurants. We also observe the same in Vietnam cafes where glasses for the coffee have not been properly cleaned etc. I live mostly in NE Thailand where I live in a village in my own house so I am not someone just off the plane from the west. Maybe food is the most revered thing in Thailand!

Anyone that likes a place because of a ‘good’ ex-pat community should ask themselves why they are travelling. In my experience, most locals don’t like ex-pat communities. Also there’s many people that like ex-pat communities but have an issue when one pops up in their country - then the xenophobia starts.

@@Chai_Travel What I have found Chai is that when you treat people with respect and you are considerate and courteous, everyone is friendly. Unfortunately, most people are not this way. But everyone is that way in front of a mic and camera. ;) Two small examples: Ever buy some flowers for the ladies at the front desk where you are staying? Ever clean the tables/area of a place you eat at when it was really busy and they couldn't keep up? It costs you nothing. :)
