The divine melody in flute is brought out excellently by Sri. Shashank. Thank you Siva Sritharan for making the Concert available to us. Krishnakumar, Srirangam
All the three presented excellently, both the accompanying artists had great talent, Sai GIRIDHAR spell bound mridangam support. May GOD BLESS U ALL with many more concerts and great presentations
Does Tabla go along with Flute as it is being used while playing the Mandolin by U Rajesh ( brother of U Srinivas). ? The artiste has perhaps to try & experiment . A mridangam & a tabla could be accompanists if the artiste plays alongwith another co -flautist. ( 2 flautusts). This is a suggestion.
Flying to UK and starting the concert "I have not really decided on what to present this evening" does not sound great as his flute. At the age of 88, Semmangudi summoned Umayalpuram Sivaraman 3 days before a All India Radio Concert, told him that he practiced a new kiruthi and wanted to give a try with his mirudhangam before the concert.
The speed & tempo at which the raagam is played one is not able to feel the beauty of the raagam Shankarabharanam. I feel the artiste could have chosen to play a kirtana in the ragaam than a Varnam
"I can give you a choice..." That's mastery, I think.
The 3rd kirtana is in the ragam " Yamuna Kalyani " The kirtana/song being "Krishna Nee began baaro ", a Purandara daasa composition.

The 2nd kirtana is in the raagam " Gowla " if I am right .
Very nice. Good to hear a verbal introduction at the start. Thank you.
Excellent concert! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant playing by Shashank.
These are not the best of Shashank on flute. However I have enjoyed it well......mjk

Abarajith Ro
Abarajith Ro he meant he is ready to play anything the audience wish !
I think that shows the mastery over flute...
He is a man, who has dedicated his entire life for flute...for many ppl music is passion, but for this legend music is life.

I dont know what the mridangam player is upto.. seems like some tamil cinema recording playing. doesnt sound carnatic
I'll bet you couldn't play like him though.
