I purchased this as my first gun too. Shoots like butter! My only gripe about it would be the weight. It does seem to be heavier than the glock but for the money it’s a steal!
I'm not a commando or a Rambo, but I've had my Canik for a good few years and fired it a fair number of times if not excessively....it is glad to get a decent cleaning, thank you. I swear this gun is the AK47 of pistols! It NEVER fails me. Tremendous value!!! I'm planning to buy another just the same, TP9SF, because it is SO good and because one is none and two is one.
For anyone curious about how much oil to use, if you don't have compressed air, grab yourself a few cans of keyboard cleaner. You don't want an excessive amount of gun oil on everything. for example after lubing the recoil spring, put the spring over a paper towel and spray compressed air over it, then wipe clean, too much oil will attracts dust which will make the lube tacky. Also, If you are getting stovepipes, or extraction failures, you could be just doing a poor job of getting excess oil out.

I just cleaned my canik according to your video. It was kind of relaxing. I didn’t realize my gun was so nasty. I used those round make-remover pads that lady’s use. I got like 200 at Walmart for like $3. The oil and bore cleaner was cheap too. The gun seems to move better now.
Thank you so for helping me disassemble my canik I was so scared because I am a new owner. I was overwhelmed if I would accidentally discharge my firearm.. I had my best friend watch me to make I was safe
First off thank you this video helped a lot cleaning off my new family, but I was wondering should I have done this outside with protective gear on I did this in my room and got a good wife of the bore cleaner
mannnn I appreciate this video. it help me out big time. you did a great job going step by step. definitely saving this video to watch again for when I need to clean it again.
This is my refresher vid before every cleaning. Thanks. This model is very easy to maintain and shoot. The trigger is easy to accidently double tap a second shot high when bringing the barrel back down from the first shot, but im working on that...again, thanks for the vid (although i dont use THAT much lube, you are right about every slide piece that touches another deserves its ointment)
I do landscaping and my tool is really dusty rn this might be a dumb question to some but is it safe to rinse of the gun off with water to get most of the dirt off before cleaning it this way?
A cleaning kit would be more appropriate than the one that comes in the pistol box. A chamber brush will definitely get the residue much better. My two cents. Thanks for posting.
Just got this gun. Haven’t taken it to the range yet (simply no time) and just before I was gonna head out tonight, I wanted to clean the barrel just in case. When I put it back together, with the slide locked back, I notice the barrel rattles around in a way I swear I don’t remember it doing. Is this normal? Did I mess it up somehow?
I’m new to owning a gun and this would be my first time cleaning. I noticed you used Gun bore cleaner on the frame of your gun, it wouldn’t harm it in the long-run would it? I have the same 2 products you have but I’m torn between just ordering a degreaser or breakdown my firearm to clean it since I’ve been using it.
Also recently my first hand gun purchase. Haven’t fired it yet. Thought cleaning and lubricating should be done first. Thank you for sharing. BTW- didn’t find your review in the description box. Interested to see it.
7:42 The slide only touch those 4 metal pads. Putting oil on the polymer is a waste and makes a mess. If the slide actually touched the polymer, it would shred it in no time.
Thanks for your video. I am not new to guns such as rifles and shotguns but today at the close of 2020 I was able to pick up my Canik TP9 SFX as my first handgun and this has helped a great deal. Questions: How long does it take to "break in a gun" such as this Canik? It's definitely stiff. Also, should I oil it down before taking it out to the range? Thanks.
Just one question. When you were cleaning the barrel I noticed you ran the brush at the end through. I’ve heard you shouldn’t because it can damage the crown area? Is it safe to do that? I know everyone has there own way. I’m a new shooter and just got my Canik. Thx for showing the cleaning.
The bore brush witch is the one with the brown looking brisles is made for that. It helps get all the build up out of your barrel I would t put like a tooth brush but that is fine.
It’s because people it back through the barrel chipping the crown instead of pushing all the way through then starting over. Or just be careful. I like to unscrew at exit, pull the rod, start over. It brushes the same pattern and no risk of crown or ramp damage. 👍
Gun too full of oil. Weapon too greasy. The oil traps gunpowder and dirt. Also, never brush the barrel from the tip side. This is absolutely not a good example of gun cleaning.
Just purchased this as my first handgun. Thank you much.

Goodnight that’s just too much lube. Yes, you “can’t overly lube” but you can. Each drop extra collects more debris. A couple drops will do you fine.

You can use ballistol like Hickok uses. You can practically cook with it
Can you please elaborate on correct placement for the spring inside the rail
It needs to be on the first knotch on the barrel and the other piece out the whole of the front of the slide

Way too much oil, this gun requires very little.
Buy a gun cleaning mat and gun cleaning brushes. Also, way to much oil applied. one small drop goes a long way.
I think you use a little bit too much oil. If you're ever in Sandy conditions that gun is going to attract every bit of dirt a little goes a long way
Might as well throw it in the dish washer.
Use a boresnake for God sake
Wipe your hands bro 🤣
