VALAQUENTA - Account of the Valar and Maiar according to the lore of the Eldar
Audiobook
Valar is the name given to the chief Ainur following their descent to Arda. The Ainur were angelic spirits created by the supreme deity, Ilúvatar. The most powerful of the Valar was Melkor, who became corrupt, and ceased to follow the will of Ilúvatar. The fourteen remaining Valar continued in Ilúvatar's will.
The Ainur had either male or female forms, some were couples, while some were siblings in Ilúvatar's mind. Thus, there were seven male Valar, and seven females (Valier). Of the fourteen, those eight with the greatest might were responsible for some attribute of life in Arda. The king of the Valar, and of all Arda was Manwë.
On their descent to Arda, the Valar were followed by Ainur of lesser might, the Maiar, who were their subjects, students, and assistants in governing Arda. The Valar had the ability to change their physical appearance or to bear no shape at all.
Of the enemies are mentioned Melkor, Sauron, and the Balrogs, spirits who fell into hate.
Timeline of Arda:
Before the creation of the Sun, few dates can be given, and the dates that are given in Valinorean Years, which are about a decade in length.
Before the creation of Eä
Eru Ilúvatar creates the Timeless Halls and the race of the Ainur.
The Ainur create the Ainulindalë before Eru.
This Music of the Ainur leads to the vision of Eä.
Melkor tries to corrupt the theme but ends up enriching it even more.
Eru subsequently creates Arda (the world) in Eä with the Secret Fire at its center.
Creation of Arda
VY 500: Many Ainur enter Arda and become the Valar and Maiar;
The shaping of Arda begins;
Creation of the elder stars by Varda.
VY 1980: The First War, Melkor assaults his brethren, and Arda's "symmetry is marred".
Tulkas arrives, the last of the Valar to descend into Arda.
Melkor runs from him and hides in the Outer Void.
Listening to this while reading along... Makes the book a little easier to read.
So true 😊
Bob, when you read the Silmarillion it is like studying . Only the real and true Tolkien fan will conquer the Silmarillion, and when he does, he will reckon it the most powerful of all of Tolkiens works. For the Silmarillion was the beginning of his works , and he still worked on it until his death in 1973.
I "conquered" it at age 14 as a swede back in 98. So I guess that makes me a "true fan". xD
@@00Kuja00Bro! Me too!
Noooo doubt
Trying to comprehend this to turn it into a movie or visual media is nigh impossible, i will forever love this book for that reason😊
I am dreaming about 3D 📕😀
Only the true Tolkien lover can conquer the Silmarillion. It is much akin to studying the Bible, and the Mythos of the Norse. It is by far my favorite of all Tolkiens work. Christopher did a great job of trying to tie it together as a cohesive body of work, yet J.R.R. never finished it to his perfection. He was forever tweeking a bit here and there.
I personally see the beginning of time of ea to be a 30 minute introduction from the anilunidale through to the waking of the elves and beginning there.
The opening would be the songs with Eru, a black screen and each time a note starts a light comes on the screen and grows in number with Melkor being of a different light and as he spreads his discord the lights among the Maiar changes to his color.
Louder and louder the music becomes until Eru pronounces Ea.
A burst of light and sound brings in the universe and here is Arda. You see the beginning wars between melkor manwe Ulmo and Aule. Not as in physical fighting but seeing the world of arda take shape the oceans the mountains almost primordial.
Once melkor is cast to the north of middle earth it is all quiet and you see the first elves awakening.
It's waaay less dialogue which makes it harder but I would love to see it b4 I go
I think it would make a good animated anthology, with each chapter done in a different style, like "Shakespeare the Animated Tales" or "Fantasia"
one good thing is that this book will probably never be corrupted by film making companies.
So true 🙂
I love the voice and pictures, truly entertaining 👍

I still cannot get over how fantastic this production is! I have shared this playlist with so many other fans over the last year ❤️🤩

This is an amazing job I just have one request… that you write the names on the screen of people, places or beings so we can see how they’re written 🙂

Just follow the playlist 😉
I just found this. Thanks for doing it. I just rewatched all of LoTR extended editions, the Hobbit M4 fan edit (google this it’s great), and season 1 of Rings. Needed to refresh my silmarillion knowledge because that show is a bit trash.
I'll check it out! Tnx
