Mary I agree with you 1000000000%! people always manage to say "you should have done this" or "you should have done that" when they themselves dont do what you do! around the holidays, i know you will go out of your way to help families who are struggling, or during the school year how you buy supplies for students who many not be fortunate enough to get their own supplies. i know you will make these charitable donations, not for profits or acknowledgment, but out of the goodness of your own heart! I felt it when you said how on paper you may not be struggling but in life you are, because currently, it has been truly difficult to just "manage" life. I had savings, i had money, and then with the cost of living and the cost of everything, and health problems, and other issues, its just been a struggle to manage! so i just wanted to say thank you for all that you do! I know you dont do it for thanks but i am thanking you anyway. your community is blessed to have such a kind soul.

Wonderful! I do blankets and yoga mats and they get passed out to the homeless, it helps get them off of the cold ground. I wish it didn’t have to be this way, but everyone who is able should absolutely help the less fortunate. Thank you, Mary!

I know it's not food but, one thing a lot of people don't tend to think of is (city) bus tickets. If your city's public transit agency has sheets or singles of physical single ride tickets or passes! Even daily, weekly, or monthly ones.

We qualified for food assistance in my state during Covid and got a RIDICULOUS amount of allowance from SNAP. We never ever ate the amount of food we were able to buy. We ended up donating it to the local food bank every week, all kinds of cereals and canned goods, baby items and various toiletries. It ran out EVERY WEEK and no matter how much we donated, it was just never enough.

It is so wonderful to see that this is not only a thing in my country, The Netherlands. I also try to donate to those 'little houses'. The one in my street is always quickly empty after people put there products in it. There's always people who can need a little bit of support, and this way it's maybe easier to accept that. You are such an inspiration for doing such kind and generous things for those in your community. Watching you has inspired me to "adopt a Grandma" down the road from me. She was a dear friend of my mother's, who had passed away. My 2 boys have loved carrying her things from our garden this year and now we've moved on to other encouraging things, grocery gift cards, etc. All of that from your inspiration! Mary, I listened to your whole book you wrote. I watch as you donate to children at Christmas and obviously here, are giving to the poor. You seem to really live a Christian life. What is your faith background? It’s so encouraging to see someone give anonymously and constantly think of others as you do. BRAVA!!

It's also a blessing that any of you are able to have a Blessing box where you live. This would not work in Miami, nor I'm guessing in any of the other large cities. I can't wait to leave this place. PS. Mary, you might want to wait til your weather is cooler to put the multivitamin in the blessing box. Gummie's melt. Don't ask me how I know that, lol.
What about adding some can openers from Dollar Tree to the Blessing Box in the future? Sets people up for receiving future canned donations in the future as well. Something I’m going to keep in mind for next time I donate food in my city too.
I'll be doing that and hope others do, too.
We have several churches in our area that have Blessing boxes. They are such a great way to help people out.

Our community has “community fridges” at volunteer locations and community pantries. I love this idea! You’re an awesome human❤️ I’ve seen little packs of diapers/wipes at the checkout at my Walmart, although I’m in Canada - may be worth checking out your local Walmart too ☺️

At walmart they have the smaller little plastic bags of diapers. Target also has their brand diapers in the plastic bag type of thing. About $10 for a decent amount

The protein granola is a great idea. A great carb/protein combo! I keep a little ziploc of it with me. Sometimes I'll add cashews, almonds, dried fruit, etc.

It's a FitBit, one of the cheaper ones. It works great!
A good idea for local People in need to donate every day goods. These blessing boxes are also available in many Supermarkets in Germany.

Such a great thing to do! We have something in Portland called the pdx free fridges- and they have a bunch of fridges/pantries/clothing boxes scattered across the city! Especially great when we have heatwaves and cold cold weather

I'm obsessed with the seedtastic bread. I work an 11 hour very physical day (I'm 63) and I start my day with a peanut butter banana sandwich on that bread. Eat it on my drive in at 6 a.m.

I really resonate with what you were saying about the blessings box. I know for my family there were times that the checking account was at zero and we had to put groceries on a credit card until we made it to the next payday..
I donate lots of coffee & tea, some of the most costly items that are not affordable.
