    I really enjoyed watching this routine. I think Katie did a great job! It was nice to see them come third in the quickstep-athon too.

    This was a very risky routine for anton especially since he has never choreographed an AT for SCD (idk what he does outside of SCD). I could tell, from a dancer's standpoint, that anton wasn't as comfortable as he usually is with his choreography just from the sheer fact he kept staring straight at the floor to make sure his own dancing wasn't messing up katie's, but damn his choreography is becoming such a spectacular sight to see now. Hes finally showing the world what hes really made of now that he has a partner who can actually take it! Katie could've been sharper with some of her gaucho flicks and she could've watched her coordination with anton's legs. I could tell her leg got caught on his, which threw anton off balanced a bit, but her finishes were unbelieveable and her legs are just to die for. Easily an 8.5-9 from me, just from the difficulty of the dance alone.

      +ChiquititaRamTip His specialty outside of SCD is International Standard (in fact, he's the only specialist in Standard on ANY of the existing versions of SCD that I am aware of), so Tango is directly in his wheelhouse, but Argentine Tango is new for him, because it's an entirely different animal with rules regarding footwork, hold, and technique that he lacks experience in. When you also consider that at 49, he's the oldest pro on SCD, it's quite an accomplishment that he was able to pick up on this in pretty short order. Of course, it just makes me want that much more to see what kind of Showdance he can come up with for Katie!

      +Lee Cox That is very true and thanks for clearing that up!! :) I really cannot wait (because im almost sure hes going to be in the final on popularity votes alone) to see his showdance!

      A bit late to the party in terms of replying but I was re-watching this and found yours and +Lee Cox's comments insightful. Thanks.

      I mean let's not forget, the pros who aren't specialists at this dance don't just do it themselves, they get a team in to help

    This was a great effort from the two of them. For Katie to still be in at this point, and doing the dances she is doing, she deserves some recognition! She is improving leaps and bounds and it's exciting to watch that journey unfold!

    She does have stunning legs! She could have been a bitter sharper with her kicks and some aspects of the lifts. Overall, passionate, and somehow she always manages to keep her performances classy. Well done!

    Oh Katie, this routine was very hit and miss. The bad things were the mistakes, if i pointed out all of them this post would be two pages long, and her feet, Anton my love you have GOT to get Katie to point her feet, you are approaching the quarter-finals this NEEDS to be corrected. Also this was the first Argentine Tango Anton has EVER done. So I won't obliterate him based on this fact. Now for the OK, she managed to do the steps right and the lefts weren't as labored as I was expecting them to be. In fact they were really decent. Now as for the good, they had great chemistry and they set the mood of this piece quite well. So as a well it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't call it no where near as good as last week. So upon my first viewing an 8 but after watching it multiple times I would say a 7.

    I understand the judges comments towards her performance but when you listen to how their critiquing other celebrities they are almost being 'too specific' with Katie and it's really bugging me! For instance this routine had real moments of wow & beauty yet Peter's performance was no where near as good as Katie's yet the judges were almost 'too nice' on him even if they did score him less. Am I wrong? with a comparison like that I don't think so somehow!
    Best feature for me was Katie's stunning legs!

    First the good, the mood-setting for this dance is en-pointe. They seemed very committed to create a certain frisson between them, all good. But the not so good: too little intricate leg decorations from Katie, and she didn't point her feet at the lift in the beginning, though to be fair that was a very quick and sharp lift for a non-pro to execute perfectly. Going by SCD AT style and standards, I would say an eight (like Kellie's Salsa score from me), and there might be a nine from the judges perhaps, but that would be really generous.

      I liked the feel of the routine. Craig pointed out quite a few weaknesses. The judges scored her 7 8 8 9. She did well in the quickstep-athon, taking third place.

      Estella Hunter Quickstep-athon? Oh goodness... I can see the celeb boys struggling to get top marks from the judges. Oftentimes celeb males suffer at this kind of gimmicks in the previous series...

      To be honest this what I was expecting. A good performance BUT just good. Two things there was no connection between them I don't know how Anto has not got dizzy starring at floor all time and Katie...... Such a lovely figure and legs.... wasted. There is no flame in this woman. Performance wise she's the flat every week. Bottom 2 with Peter this week. That's my view.

    Not bad but not a patch on the greatest single dance ever on Strictly, Natalie Gumede and Atem's Argentine Tango to 'Montserrat' in the 2013 semi-final.

    sometimes ; I wonder If the choreographers are even listening to the music , hell I could've put another song to this dance and I won't feel the difference , the music was really great , and it allows a lot of drama and great lines , this could've been really amazing , and they needed more passion on top of that .

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 років тому +1

      +Kira Archi I personally think it was a fantastic effort for both of them, especially since Anton has never choreographed an Argentine Tango before, so I could tell that he was out of his comfort zone on this one. Yes, there probably could have been a bit more of a connection, but I thought Katie sold the mood of the dance (it helped that they had actual Argentine Tango music to dance to; Anton must have fought HARD for that one!), and I also thought that her leg flicks were very sharp. While nobody would mistake them for Vincent and Flavia, I thought it was great for their respective skill levels.

    • @TheHelpusername
      @TheHelpusername 8 років тому

      +Lee Cox I didn't dislike the execution (they could've done better though) or the choreography itself , what I didn't like is the musicality in this number , and it's not just in the A.tango , I noticed that in other styles , where you could feel that there is a disconnection between the music and the choreography (not just Anton but a lot of the other pros). but yeah, it was a nice dance , I'm not taking that away from them.

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 років тому

      Kira Archi I disagree about the music. "Libertango" is traditional Argentine Tango music, so you can't get more authentic or connected to the choreography than that. What would YOU have preferred for their dance?

    • @TheHelpusername
      @TheHelpusername 8 років тому +1

      +Lee Cox Oh god , It's not the music, the music is perfect , it's the musicality, it's the way you interpret the melody into movement ,the ups and downs of the song ,the changing of the music when it slows and picks up ,the tiny sounds and the layers of it , that's what makes the difference in the dance and that's why sometimes we said : I really like the dance , it's perfectly executed but there is something missing I cant put my finger on it. and that's what's missing here , the music has a lot of layers but they kept the same rhythm through the whole routine , example: @ 0:42 when he was turning her the music changed around 0:46 but they kept doing the move like nothing have changed at all ,do you understand what I'm saying , it's the musicality that lifts the dance from being athletic movements into a form of art. phew , now my fingers are exhausted :).

    I like her, but I feel like Anton is holding her in place and using clever choreography to make her look better than she is. She doesn't have a lot of strength and isn't as technically good as some of the others.

    The beauty of the tango (Argentinian) is in the leg work and sharpness of movement and hers just seemed very... amateury. I know she is not a pro or anything but he is and could have told her at least to straighten her knees and point her toes at the right times. As a tango lover, I did not like the performance.
