@@matews I mean, you follow a tendency to think that procreative decisions were exclusively male initiatives, like in the old joke about an event being not only before you were born, but before you were even a gleam in your father's eye, as if the man is the only one with the gleam, while the woman is just lying there.

Joe Pass me emociona.

  • @violinoscar

Do not kid yourself. Joe knew his theory; the thing is he had developed to the point where he could allow himself to forget it and just play. In much the same way as you don't count your verbs, nouns, etc when talking. Joe was also a brilliant sight-reader.

@@pablo80955 Because when Joe was learning modes were not really taught. Read his book Joe Pass Guitar Style. You will see that he had a full understanding of theory.

Montreau 75 was shot in video too..some of the videos are on youtube...check out his version of Nuages...and if you like uptempo numbers..check out his version of The Song is You.... the audio version of Cherokee......and not solos..but his stuff with NHOP are fantastic...and his version of Autumn Leaves with Sarah Vaughan is amazing too. They are on youtube.

  • @hotplate85

His sense of phrasing is untouchable, but what really seperates Joe from the pack is the hidden counterpoint that links the chords and soloistic material, as well as infusing swing into his archane harmonies.. I hope his solos are anthologized like Parker's "Omnibook" so we can see his musical genious and study rather than copy it.
