Anthony, an idea occurs to me. Why don't you try adding cornflour to the polyfilla which will absorb a lot of the moisture from the polyfilla, then you can put it into piping bags and get similar results to the person you mentioned at the start. It honestly will thicken the polygonal and make it far easier to get peaks and troughs in it. Give it a try and make a second video so I can see what you produce with it. Loved this video and I really liked both pieces you made. It's a shame about the cracking, but maybe adding a little wood or pva glue into the mix will help it not crack. Pva glue works well with cornflour and creates a very strong paste. You can stipple it on your canvas, after you add acrylic paint to it of course, then Bob's your uncle and Nellie's your aunt, it should work a treat!.
I love these! I’m particularly digging the chunky retro pop art piece!! 🤩💯💯💯. The back of a plastic spoon is great for making designs and pulling out flower petals and things. ~~Oh lordy I don’t have the time today to read thru all the comments .. someone probably already said this but here’s the thing. To make it work you have to slowww the drying process way down. The top layer dries right away and then the underneath slowwwly dries behind it.. as it does it send cracks up thru the top already dried layers or thinner areas. I put my paintings in a tub with the lid barely open at the corner.. put something to prop up a corner a couple inches (tape it on the corner so it doesn’t fall in) and it’ll keep it from drying too quickly. It’ll take a week or 10 days but it all dries at the same rate. Then wait a good 2nd week, out in the open, for all the residual moisture to come out. Then SEAL it. I prefer spray varnish but whatever you have on hand is good. Just get it sealed so it doesn’t begin to flake as it get past dry. ~~The other thing that works is GAC800 by Golden brand. Excellent stuff for crazing & cracking but it’s expensive. And it’s liquid so it’ll reduce the viscosity.
Don’t forget to sign your art! You’re making some very cool things.. add a date ✨💯💯🌹🌹🌹. Thanks Ant.. love seeing you twice a week!
Hi Ant, I used to use polyfilla, however it does crack after a long period of time, decorators caulk (paintable) is more flexible! Give it lots of time to dry xxxx
Decorators caulk is flexible and doesn’t crack! I changed to using that instead of polyfilla!! I use home bargains own brand!
I was looking for ideas to use with polyfilla and found you! I'm so glad I did. Your ideas are great. I also had the idea of trying the polyfilla/paint mix with a piping bag. Looking forward to watching more from you ... Subscribed.
I really love the gradient painting! Definitely a creative way to get that thickness, I hope the paintings last!
Also, Zach is ADORABLE
Ah thanks! 😊😊 Oh he's a super sweetie, and such a softy too! He's one of the only dogs that gives kisses! 🥰🥰
I love Zak so precious and you can never have to many fur babies Anthony also love the unusual artwork never knew you could make artwork out of that stuff learn something new on your channel every time I visit well thanks again give your fur babies a hug from me cheers
Hey crazy adorable dog and lady! Lovely vid. plaster of Paris mixed with white glue work as well?
Love your art work. I’m guessing it cracked only because the thickness it was applied, it probably shouldn’t crack or disintegrate anymore. If you desire to ever try this again, you can you different tools such as a disposable fork to make different textures and patterns as yo apply the paint. But overall what a cool and fun project! Lovely to see you on a Tuesday! Have a wonderful week my friend!
It might not, it's holding strong at the mo lol! Oh yeah that would look good for some extra texture! 😁 Ah and thanks! Have a great week too! 😊😊
I came across you trying to make this paint too!! I love your videos…love your experimenting nature, so like me!! I’ve been cracking up watching ones like you making the silicon mushroom mold. Did you ever figure a solution for this paint? I noticed they now ship overseas but $$$ so I’m still experimenting!
Ah welcome to the channel! 😊😊 And nope never figured it out, someone did send me some of their paint though in one of my videos so I finally got the chance to use it, loved it! And didn't realise they started shipping worldwide but just checked and yep, absolute fortune!!! 😭😭😭😭
Hi Anthony, thank you for cheering up a crap Tuesday. My mum had to have her dod put to sleep last week, so we’re on the hunt for a new companion for her. Your new puppy is adorable 🥰. Mixing that poly filler with paint looks so satisfying, must give that a go 😊 xx
Oh no!! I'm sorry to hear that! 😔😔😔 Well I would highly recommend a jack russel! 😊😊 Oh it was a lot of fun, not the most robust medium though! 😅
PVA glue could help. I'm thinking of just small fine surfaces, not heavy and chunky. Love this video and your presenting. You remind a bit of the late Kenny Everett.
Ok I need you to be able to get your hands on that paint! Love the second painting and the gradient/sunset vibes and the new puppy is adorable!! Idk if I’ll ever have the energy for a new puppy again; you are a busy and brave individual lol
Same! 😂😂 Brave and exhausted! Forgot how hard it can be to house train a puppy! 🙃🙃
I'm wondering if you added the powder polysilicon in with that would it make it even thicker. Love your cat. ohh over time did it crack or brake off
Wonder if using canvas was wrong since it can move and bend slightly. Would a board be better?
Great video and idea.
😃👍
Yeah I think a board would be better, however I still think you'd get cracking, especially from the thicker one, could get away with it using the thinner one! And thanks Gavin! 😁😁
I checked out the site for the paint WOW. I'll order some after the holidays.
I like the sunset one, very pretty. Your new puppy is a cutie! Thanks for the extra videos!
Oh... you're doing your own cc, aren't you? Damn, you're good. Congrats on Zach - he's beautiful! Have fun with the whole 'adorable new puppy's not house trained yet' very special time. 😉
My own cc? Ah thanks Luxinda! Ooooh it's hard! Forgot how difficult house training a puppy is!! 😂😂🙃🙃
@@AnthonyCrammen sorry, cc = closed captioning. Yours is fantastic -- too spot on to be YT's
Oh yeah! I always add custom closed captions to my videos as the auto one is sooo bad when it comes to my accent! 😂 Plus they don't add punctuation which is annoying!
@@AnthonyCrammen yes, well, speaking as someone who YT thinks is named "looks into swirl," I totally get why you'd do that. I just haven't gone down that particular rabbit hole yet... 🤪🤣
Nice fur baby, love the colours of paint, the flat one I would put black silhouettes on it,think they would make it really pop😍
Firstly, your new pup is adorable! I loved the gradient of color on your second painting. I think you could try a stencil too. Nice outcome today!
I or someone else could always buy the paint and send it over to you !! Just let me know ... Love the new pup!
Ah thanks! Oh no I wouldn't want to put anyone out, just don't understand why they don't deliver outside of USA/Canada! 😭😭😭
I live in Canada and bought the paint. Haven't tried it out yet!
I love this and just got some Polyfila to try during the week on a small canvas, thanks for sharing. I also want to buy some Gaffney paint, I’m from Australia, I’ll check again and see if they ship here xxxx
What a great idea! You could use an icing bag for decorating cakes and the different nozzles designs I'm going to try this! Loved the gradient one... Polyfilla in pound land just as good and a bargain is what I will try.... loved this episode... yes I would try a mat varnish also in poundland
Ah glad you enjoyed it Kathleen! 😊 Oh yeah icing bags would be a great idea! Hope you have fun experimenting!! 😁😁
Firstly I love your new puppy and the fact you are a crazy dog lady...he looks like a bundle of fun and love ❤....the paintings looked great especially the 2nd one, would make a lovely background for one of your self portraits 😃
Oh he's super cute but also a complete devil! 😂😂 He's destroyed soo many coats/shoes! Ah and thanks Kim, that would be a good idea! 😁😁
They both look insane! Love them! Pup is adorable too! You really did well today.... I'm surprised!! Haha 🤣🤣
Ahahahahaaaaa Dulainey 94, that's creased me up, 'I'm surprised', such faith!!
But, I know what you mean! 🤣🤣
You have done a great job advertising the Gaffrey paint so I reckon they should give you a load. Loved the video and your new pup is gorgeous. :)
They look incredible love the second one u made orange and purply in it💗💗
That looks like fun to work with. I’m wondering if the stuff falls of will the colors still be on the canvas underneath. Your puppy is so sweet! Take care!
I really doubt it, I think it'll take the colour with it lol. Ah and thanks Marilyn, he's a cutie! 🥰🐶
Those paintings are fantastic!!!!! I have to try that trick. Also your new puppy is so stinkin cute
@@AnthonyCrammen I can only imagine! He will grow up to be a good boy like Luther tho I’m sure
Hi Anthony!
Aww!
Zach is too adorable!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Seven is not too many for your home and yard size. 🙂
I like how they look.
Thank you for your experiment!
I was going to try modeling paste, both store bought and homemade to thicken my paint for texturing.
Ah thanks Cheryl! 🥰🐶🥰🐶
I think you'd get some better results with modelling paste, all depends on your budget as they can be quite expensive!
Great idea brightened up my Tuesday. Makes me want to see you do a DIY decoden video. PS Zach is a sweetheart.
Oh I'm not sure what a decoden is?! 🧐🧐 Ah he is!! Proper lovely little pup! 🥰🥰
@@AnthonyCrammen oh, it’s fake ‘whipped cream’ made from silicone piped onto anything hard. Looks more fun than it sounds!
Oohh the gradient is real nice but also BUPPY!! Tis a good season for dogs it seems, I got to go see my folks' new pup (as well as our darling older pup) and I'm getting a rescue dog next week :o
Ah thanks! Ooooh congrats!!! Plenty of dogs getting happy homes!! 🥰🐶🥰🐶
I love the thinner one, it looks like the best sunset you could ask for. Hawaii meets UK.
Zac 😍🥰 is just adorable, loved seeing that little face and I bet he smells so good. Different artwork but I enjoyed the end result .
Can we get another video with your fur babies. 😍 So darn 😍 cute
I bet! Just put a go pro on theirs heads and let them go. Lol great video and always love seeing doggos
Wonder if gesso mixed in would help?
I put a bit of pva through it and it helps stop it drying too fast which should prevent as much cracking as possible 😅
As an American I investigated for you because I have seen that painting technique years ago before he started making paint so I suspected it couldn’t be that hard to replicate. Liquitex heavy gel medium for acrylic paints (sold on Amazon UK) should get you the texture you want. If you want to add even more dimension and rigidity to the paint maybe try adding in some silicone from the hardware store, but I’d dye the silicone first then mix all that into the medium. That would be way less expensive than what you’d have to pay to ship his small amount paints to the UK. Hope that helps!
PS…love the new doggo!
Oooooooohhhh, we were talking dogs again tonight. I said it would have to be a small dog as we have a small house (he won't let me have a Dachshund 😭😭) he mentioned a Jack Russell and I was hesitant at first, then I remembered my bff had had one once and she was adorable, so we're considering one.
But we've got a feline house guest for awhile, so after the moggy has gone!
But yours surprised me, Ant, I've never seen one that isn't the white & tan colour, or white & tan & black!!
I love your pup, he's ADORABLE!!!! xx
Oh Zach isn't a jack russel! He's a cross between a german sherphard and a belgian milinois so he'll be massive! 😂😂 But jack russels are the best!! I have 2 and they're a great breed! 😁😁
@@AnthonyCrammen
That'll explain why I haven't seen one of that colour!! Pmsl xx
I have a tub of drywall compound I got from my work (work at a hardware store). When I asked our paint guy, he said there's a woman in town that uses it to thicken her acrylic paints. Of course, she hasn't been in since we talked about it. 🤣 But if it works for her... Though I have no idea how much she thickens her paints, honestly. But I am going to use that tub of compound at some point!! It's just sitting up there right now. And I'd be happy to buy some of that specialty paint and ship it to you! I like both paintings so much, you did good! 🤣
That woman was me in disguise 🥸🥸 😆😆
Ah and that's a lovely offer but I don't wanna put anyone out, hopefully they'll ship to the UK at some point! 😁😁
@@AnthonyCrammen lol I’ll keep a look out for ya, then! You’ll have to come across the pond, though! 🤣🤣 But seriously, if you every change your mind, let me know!
@DiscoKittie Hi DiscoKittie! Do you know the name or brand of that drywall compound that the paint guy said she uses? Did you perhaps see that woman in the mean time to ask her how she uses it?✌️
@@S.Schultz we have the All Purpose stuff from USG. I never did meet her, and I haven’t tried it yet myself.
Idk if you’ll even see this anymore but extra heavy molding paste by golden should give you the effect you’re looking for
I too am obsessed with the thought of gaffrey paint but unfortunately even though I’m in the US it always seems to be mostly out of stock
I've seen Artex (textured wall coating) used successfully on canvas with paint.
@@AnthonyCrammen It was a splatter painting (Jackson Pollock). The Artex was put on the canvas first then paint on top. I don't know if would work by mixing the paint in with it so you might not get the effect of mega thick paint that you're after.
I tried these before & I have got 3 problems cracks as you mentioned - mould appears after several months- tried to spray with varnish got huge cracks unfortunately
@@AnthonyCrammen yah I was so disappointed but I kept trying stuffs as I was fascinated with the thickness and making petals with palette knife so I tried joint compound the issue here the shrinkage so check products that doesn’t shrink or with minimal shrinkage then I put a layer of Mod podge to seal it didn’t crack like the varnish spray which was a good hit however it gonna be tedious if used on petals , flower or the one you showed from the internet but can work with the one you did or waves or ones that without too much tiny details . I didn’t try plaster of paris yet but some says would work but not sure though
I paused your video to go check out that paint and it does look really cool! I hope they answer your email - I really want to see you play around with it!
Love what you created ❤️ I really like the gradient one ☺️ (My brain kept wanting to rotate it so the green was on top with the blue on the bottom as it read it like an ocean sunrise.)
Oh it looks so nice! I was gutted I couldn't get my hands on it! Hopefully in the future they'll ship to the UK! Ah and thanks Tee! ☺️☺️
Hey Ant, thanks for the latest adventure! 😀😀 I think the Polyfilla actually worked pretty well, as it can be pretty dry and crumbly when using it for its #normal' purpose 😝😝 Thanks for introducing us to Zach too - does he meet with your other doggies' approval??😱🐕
Ah no problem! 😁😁 Haha true! 😅 And yeah he fits in quite well, he seems to be besties with Eva so that's good to see! 🥰🥰
@@AnthonyCrammen Awww, glad to hear Zach has made such good friends with Eva!! 😁😁
Try mixing paint with silicone it won’t crack and should give you the peaks you want
I'm sure someone else has already offered, but you can send it to me, and I'll send it along to you. Happy to do it.
Ah thanks Ann but I wouldn't want to put anyone out lol! Hooefully they'll start shipping to the UK at some point! 🤞🤞
When I was in 7th grade, I went to an art school. My painting teacher got super annoyed at me, because I decided to do a very large textured painting... with acrylic paints. I went through SO many tubes. She did NOT appreciate it. 🤣🤣 I definitely could have used this technique.
@@AnthonyCrammen It must have, haha! It turned out quite bad, too. It was a painting of several horses, which looked really great in the grey tone under layer. But the more paint I added, the weirder it got. I ended up wirh a bunch of textured, curly haired horses. Hahaha
They held up quite well. The chunkier one definitely has some big cracks and a few chunks missing, but the other one looks completely fine 😁
I know this is old so he’d be much bigger now but your new pup is gorgeous!!!
I guess you could always add some pure clolur pigment to the paint and polyfilla to keep the vidrent colour preventing it from washing out? Maybe 😂
Do you have a PO Box by any chance? If you do maybe a fan could send you the gaffery paint!
@@AnthonyCrammen Oooof... Maybe when you hit 1 million subs! Just a matter of time! lol
That was a novel idea. Think I would of gone for a large tub of tile adhesive or grout.
I want to say he uses some form of caulk in with these paintings. He paints with so much paint, it has to he more economical. Im sure he gets caulking by the bucket and utilizes it. There's no graininess to his paints, and it's almost like plastic when it dries... people adding cornstarch, talc, etc are pursuing the wrong way. I could be wrong.
No dislikes so far! Debbie Downer hasn’t stopped by yet, evidently. 👍🏼
Well UA-cam turned off visible dislikes on their site, but I can still see them when the Debbie Downer's appear! 🤣🤣
Indeed! I'll be surprised if I don't have at least 1 dislike by the time I wake up tomorrow 😅😅
How annoying you can’t get that acrylic it does look interesting also it looks like they apply it with piping bags like icing.
Great idea to try poly filler I love the sunset one 😍
Congratulations on the new baby he’s soo adorable and I know how hard it is to not bring a new dog home, especially since he’s related! Have fun with the chewing hahaha the first year of my new dogs life was several trips to the vet for eating things he shouldn’t!
Oh I know! One day I will get my hands on it lol! Ah thanks Lynda! Oh tell me about it! He has a habit of eating his own poo at the mo 🤮🤮🤮
@@AnthonyCrammen haha my dog did that too it’s so gross 🤮 and way down in the back corner of my property the neighbourhood cats used it for their litter box and he was digging them up to eat too 🤮 it was a horrific time!!!!
looks like the paint you couldn't get was used almost like frosting in cake decorating. that's what the angled plastic bag looked like
Hi there great the 2nd one... alternative many use silicone 100% white it will be more elastic etc. It's like a putty like epoxy glue etc. They even bison poly max clear or white..... BTW you can use a service that they changed your address from the country you will order yo theirs warehouse and they will deliver it like you arder it by them let's say... no customs etc. Some companies have a monthly subscription fee... cheers 🦋👑🌈🌻🌸💚🏳️🌈🦊🇨🇾🇨🇾📷
If only there was an inexpensive easy to use plaster like material you could use to fill the cracks.
Hi! I've never heard of this company. I checked them out. Right now all paint kits are sold out except the yellow flower one. It only costs $25USD. Do you know what you want from the site? Oh, BTW, I live in East Texas. I thought that if you're still interested in trying it, I'll help😃 I'm an artist also, but I'm at a slower place right now. Anyway, let me know!
