🏰 A Disney fan’s hub for all Walt Disney news today!
If you’re looking for exclusive Disney news or want to experience the inside of the Disney parks, then you’re in the right place. The magic is just a click away! 🚀
For over 16 years, WDW News Today has been your go-to for all things Disney - news, podcasts, radio, and video. We've had a blast sharing our love for Disney, and it's all thanks to our dedicated audience that we're now the best website for Disney Parks News worldwide.
I want to see an episode on sponsors of rides. The history and who you'd like to see sponsor and update rides. I think Apple would be a perfect Journey into Imagination sponsor.
I like this idea, I i dont think anyone has ever really done a deep dive into attraction/show sponsors including the sponsors at the international parks.
Blackrock vanguard and states street? I believe they are the pressure disney is facing for dei
STREETMASPHERE !!!! Miss it soooo much
Old Key West transports you to the mid 90’s.
About Splash Mountain, look up Tony Baxter talking about the creation on it. He worked with the NWACP and ran it for test groups before they went forward with it. Brer Bear was voiced by Nick Stewart who voiced him in the movie.
It didn’t age well
@@WDWNTSays who exactly?
A Mary Poppins attraction/show/area would be everything. 🎠
I was bummed when they got rid of the nooses in Phantom Manor...like at the end with the phantom holding one chuckling... It's supposed to be a scary ride, he's trying to hang you! That's scary! I don't even see how nooses on their own are offensive or triggering, when you think of what else could be triggering to a tiny minority, it's such a slippery slope.
The song that I would love them to bring back to the Country Bears is "The Great Outdoors". I think it was the best song from the Vacation Hoedown show, & would fit in anywhere in the new show!
Hello from Phoenix Arizona🌡🔥
If I was an Imagineer, the project I would support would be a real extension of Animal Kingdom called “The Americas.” Add 30% more land/ capacity to the park. And my attraction I would push would be Yzmas Lair Rollercoaster. Using Guardians coaster tech, with a tower of terror style drop for the “wrong lever” scene. Animatronic heavy, and screens only for special effects.
Also Spinach Puffs!
100%! It can fit the animal kingdom theme as well as a scene where potions fly around turning both the characters and audience members into different animals 😂
I almost feel like this ride could work as a flume ride with a drop as well, similar to splash mountain. Reason being is the potential to theme it off Kuzco’s water slide summer house
"I got turned into a cow... Can i go home?" 🤣@@himynameiscorey
My dream imagineer project would be a fully realized Halloweentown from Nightmare Before Christmas, with the courtyard with the green fountain, the spiral hill with a large moon in it’s background, and of course the flagship a nightmare before christmas E-ticket ride, that then exits into a “christmastown” themed gift shop.
I love the coconut dole whip too! Wish they would bring it to Disneyland
If I could bring back a project, it would be the great muppet movie ride.
YES!!
I miss the low crowds in the late 80s and Pleasure Island.
Thanks for quickly discussing my figment question I keep hearing from cast members at Epcot that the next phase of changes involves figment
Thank you for bringing up streetmoshpere! Another important aspect of the parks that has been lost and seemingly forgotten... It's strange that they brought it back at DCA, but not Hollywood Studios where it originated and is much more needed.
I agree about Magical Express. It did make a difference when I was deciding on what park to go to for me. And I too, would like to see Pirates be back at it's original form. Great podcast guys.
We need a REAL Aladin ride!
Thank you Tom and Eric for answering my question, great show!
Walt’s vision of Epcot will only exists somewhere sense & I hope someone has the money and imagination to do it
Universal Hollywood has a big Disneyland billboard right across the 101 lol…
I see more offensive things in kid shows, news, walking on the street, and social media compared to anything "troublesome" in rides. Pirates is a good example along with Splash. Both have points but at what point do we realize we are nuts.
Thank you for responding to my question. Love your podcast. It’s a treat each week 😃
WHOO Comin' in with my question right out of the gate! Thank you for taking time to answer my question, and I too think you're perfectly placed here at WDWNT! Thanks, fellas - check out some of our toons if ya'd like :)
If long lost brother Chuck shows up, I will be in awe.
34:48 I’ve always thought of an Aladdin Roller Coaster, Escape from the Cave of Wonders. Think of it each time I see that scene of Aladdin riding the carpet through the erupting cave
This could be my favorite episode ever! Looking forward to part 2!!!
Literally screamed with excitement to see my question and have it answered
Thank you so much for answering love this show so much
Tom whispering = WDWNTASMR. That's a lot of letters!
I;m originally from Tampa and the Gasparilla is so much fun. Gasparilla mention pricked up my ears 🎉🎉🎉
Best child hood memories of the park… the backlot tour
Tom sounds disappointed by the lack of Chucky the doll 😆
Love this series and have been watching this and old episodes of WDW News Tonight until Thursday night.
20:21 I remember getting onto I-4 west from I-95 south in Daytona how all of the billboards next to the on-ramp were all advertisments for Disney. Now I think it's just one or two. It really added a lot of hype for that leg of the journey.
I remember in the seventies Disney Pirates merch. They sold muskets that used snap caps to shoot little muzzle loading cork balls.
I miss those 3D billboards on I4.
Streetmosphere was the best! It's terrible they did not bring that back!
They still sell them at Knott's last I checked.
@@michellee1190 oh wow. That's pretty cool. When I was a kid it was almost owning a real gun. Smell of black powder from the cap and the ball actually shooting out. I thought that kind of stuff was a no go from kids nowadays.
I'm nearly sure the churros at DL are from the same Vendor that *Costco* uses, at least at Costco's CA locations. WDW has totally *different* churro vendor and they're always old lol.
One of Disneyland's attractions was America the Beautiful Circle Vision 360 should be brought back. I was a Disney employee at the Christmas night and was filmed for the finale of soaring over California.
Great show. Love the honest and analysis.
I like your idea to make journey into imagination to a trackless ride based on the original ride.
The Grand Californian will probably remain the only *real* Disney hotel at Disneyland, considering it was the only one designed and built by Disney. It's unfortunate how high the prices have gotten though, as it should be priced only slightly more than its cousin lodges.
It's unfortunate the Contempo and Hotel New York have become "art hotels" and not transportive like the GC, because they used to be and still could be. I think the "art hotel" thing should be reserved for non-Disney designed hotels like Pixar Place and Celebration Hotel in Tokyo. The Contempo could tie in with Tomorrowland much better...
The cast member at the front desk at Bay Lake Tower told me two weeks ago that they're in talks with Miers to being back Magical Express. Ginnie from Brooklyn NY.
I would love to see an episode on other theme parks around the world. Like Europa Park. I love their pirates ride. Insanely themed
Ride we need-Emperor's New Groove ride. PULL THE LEVER!
This topic just bagged me think what would my 5 year olds dream Disney day be… we go to wdw every week and staycation 4/6 times a year…. Her dream would be Tokyo hands down
I'm with you, Tom. They've taken so much out of pirates that it almost doesn't feel like pirates. You don't get rid of history. History happened whether you like it or not. Choose which parts of history to display and which not.
I’m a mom of a son. I cry every time I watch Bao. 😢
1. I think the song in the Country Bears that's staying is either "Hope That You'll Be Commin' Back Again" or (more likely) The Ballad of Davey Crockett.
2. I would love an episode all about the Streetmasphere stuff. I really wanted to see those people and... It was kinda sad when I went down Hollywood Blvd for the first time last month and they weren't there. I read about them in "The Art of Play" by Gary Izzo.
Can't wait to get your take on Epic Universe.
Thank you for featuring my question!
This is the BEST show on the channel to listen to while working. LOVE THIS! (My question would have been who wrote the opening theme to News Tonight?)
No idea, but it’s actually the theme to Mickey’s Magical Party at Disneyland Paris from 2009
I want Big Al to sing Let It Go. All slow and drawn out. Trixie should sing When Somebody Loved Me.
Yes, Tarzan Rocks is the best show at W.Disney World(of all time).
I loved Tarzan Rocks too! Wish it would come back!!!
I want an episode where you just talk about DFB. If I become a WIGS member...?
I just wish Disney didn't change so many things as a result of people's opinions, like Pirates. If people are offended, they don't have to go to Disney.
That’s what they’re trying to avoid. It’s not a good business decision to alienate your potential customers. The die hard Disney super fans that would be upset by those sorts of changes are a very small percentage of their potential customers. They also know the percentage of those super fans that will stop coming is a tiny subset of that percentage.
Ariel's at the Beach Club is used as a Disney Private Events space now, it can be rented for a Disney Weddings venue.
Maybe they should change it to Pirates of Somalia featuring a Tom Hanks animatronic
I'm super allergic to pineapple so I love the coconut whip!! I will have to try the orange swirl next time. Great vid guys!
Our family curse is that we very seldom find clothes that don't have to be altered to fit
great episode 😊
You can’t convince me changing BOTH American Splash’s wasn’t a mistake. I could maybe understand doing just one but not both.
The best one is still standing, just makes Tokyo even more special
Agreed, Pirates *NEEDS* to be returned to it's original form, especially at Disneyland. It's a shame that they even thought it was a good idea to significantly change the last attraction Walt oversaw!
Plus, the Pirates films/Johnny Depp are no longer very relevant.
Sad you didn’t get to my question. Still love you though and I can’t wait for WDW News Tonight!!! There’s been a hole that only y’all’s goofy antics can fill.
Maybe they will get to your question on the next Q&A. Also, maybe they answered a similar question in a previous episode, or on anyone of the other shows like Pressing Issues. Idk just trying to throw ideas out there.
Magical Express mixed with the smell of Florida breeze was when we knew! We finally were here for vacation. Exciting.... uber sucks
"Es gibt kein Schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung" :-D Greetings from Germany ♥
I so loved this podcast!
1. It has to be "Hope That You'll Be Comin' Back Again" as the closing number. I hope "When You Wish Upon a Star" will be included in the new show.
2. I hate Soarin' Around the World; I don't know why. Too much CGI? It seems phony and inauthentic. They should have Soarin' Over California as permanent option.
I do have a problem with the rope part of mansion but that’s my own trauma i still love the stretching room I know when to shut myself off now
My team submitted a stitch surfboard coaster idea as part of an imagineering competition. Sadly, we didn't become imagineers out of it.
I know Eric can't stand wearing glasses still 🤓😂
As a life long Disneyland PotC rider (it's among my earliest memories) I think it's unfair to say that Magic Kingdom is the "worst". Like, I get that in a group of anything one of them kinda has to be "the worst" out of them but like... I wasn't prepared for the MK Pirates. First of all, it gets RIGHT into the business. I was getting ready to settle in like I normally do and it was like "Oh. we're just starting. Okay. I mean, sure, I understand you don't want to spend the time to buy me dinner but at least tell me I'm pretty." And lots of really great scenes missing, and there's no room for the sight line gags but.... You can REALLY see all kinds of details. I've never been that close to Ol' Jim. Maybe it's just that it's been two years since I got to ride Pirates at Disneyland, but everything is really beautifully executed in there.
It’s definitely the worst one, by far, but it’s the one I grew up with. Marc Davis wasn’t happy with it either.
Yeah it’s the worst, there’s no opening bayou scene next to the restaurant on the water, there’s no multiple drops in the beginning as you slowly enter the caves, but the one saving grace of this ride that no one mentions, after riding Potc in Disneyland a thousand times and having to deal with the boat riding all the way back up to the loading queue, getting off the ride before that at the WDW Potc is super appreciated, I don’t have to wait the extra 5 minutes for the boat to get to the loading queue
🗣HERCULES.....We need it!
How in this age of ip in Epcot has WALL·E just flown below the radar there has to be SOME sort of idea at imagineering to have WALL·E at Epcot
I like Eric’s concept for a Stitch coaster they could even name it Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. Lilo and stitch is my favorite movie so it always made me upset stitch’s ride was so mid 😭
6/2026 - 6/2027
Starting with 6/26, and ending on the 25th anniversary of Lilo & Stitch, 6/27, is a special year event themed to Lilo & Stitch. With blue dole whips, hawaiian bbq, live fire dancers, a “Hawaiian Rollercoaster ride” overlay of Space Mountain, and a PlayDisney app game finding all the other experiments in the park!
@@himynameiscorey they gotta hire you lol that was better than what they do now
My dream attraction is starlord taking guests back to early epcot attractions with horizon, communicore, world of motion scenes. Use original soundtrack in background with starlord talking about his memories. Life pavilion building could be the queue with ride building out back. A dark ride coaster combo with time travel element. Starlords forever epcot would be the name
I like the idea of this being a continuation of cosmic rewind, after the events of that story the guardians have harnessed the ability to safely go backwards in time, which grants Starlord the ability to present this ride 🤩🤩
@@himynameiscorey and he raves about 1980s epcot so he could show us around that time and place. Hecknthey could put it in tomorrowland or one like it bcos time travel is futuristic!
I really liked the mermaid show! YES! Lasers!
If I had to bring back a stage show it would definitely be Aladdin at DCA
It’s on some Disney cruises still
Pirates!!
Tom do you ever watch Mountain sing Mississippi Queen and think dang thats me in a past life. ?
Tom you were almost on one of those WDW street fights videos! xD
What?
lol I meant because that guy tried trash talking you! 😂@@WDWNT
My favorite snack are the crepes in France. I don’t know if they’re good but I’ve been eating them my whole life.
The worst thing about Splash changing is Disney just acting like it never existed though was around for decades. Like, fine change the ride, but why can’t merch & junk be sold of the characters? We can have a modern 25th birthday cake castle Magicband but not a Splash Mountain one?
I soft pretzels, will usually get one wherever I'm at, but the WDW pretzels are awful. Never enough salt, and as tough as leather.
Tom, the Brer' Characters from Splash had voices that were representative of where they were from. There are Southern white folk who sound stereotypically similar, so I never saw it as them being black...How can the animals be black or white anyway?! They're animals! lol
Ultimately the *NAACP* thought the ride was a great addition when it opened in '89 because it's a representation of black folk tale, which does not exist anywhere else in the parks. Princess and the Frog is European tale, not a black fairy tale like the "Laughing Place" truly was.
Not to mention, outwitting your "bullies" like Brer Rabbit did was a good message for everyone.
I've accepted the loss of the ride, but I think getting rid of the song was too far. It was Disney's most iconic melody up there with When You wish Upon a Star. Both the song and ride transcended the films fame.
I miss the Citizens of Main Street.
I used to breastfeed on all the shiy down rides… I got my best picture in haunted mansion actually. I share the fb memory every year 🤣
Just an update. I think PCDev doesn't really cover Disney anymore. He stated he doesn't really like the influence thing and the competition thing etc., etc.
I don’t know if guests are or were all that offended or upset by anything on Pirates… Disney incorporated was being unnecessarily proactive there, IMO. It’s a shame we lost the scene.
I was thinking I Won't Say I'm In Love from Hercules would be a good song for Teddi Barra (singing the Megara lines) and the Sun Bonnets singing the Muse lines. Also thanks so much guys for answering my question! :D
Streetmosphere is one of the biggest differential losses
If loving Tom is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Studios is pretty close to the star cruiser right? A hogwarts express type thing to another Star Wars expansion????
The characters from splash werent racist, the characters were voiced by black voice actors on song of the south and on splash nountain, with the exception of brer rabbit on splash mountain. Brer bear, brer fox, and brer frog sounded black because they were voiced by black people, nick stewart the original voice actor for Brer Bear happily voiced brer bear again for disneylands splash before he passed away.
Splash absolutely wasnt racist at all. I can understand people having issues with song of the south, but splash was not at all like that film and was a seperation, it literally was just a ride about the tales of brer rabbit and the brers werent problematic at all.
I dont understand how you can say a ride about animals is one of the most racist things yet peter pan blatantly still shows racism in the ride with the natives and disney still shows around pocahontas who is a much more problematic character that people still have issues with.
The voices were based on stereotypical accents from things like vaudeville that were offensive.
@@WDWNTWrong. Look up Gullah/Geechee. It's a legitimate black dialect.
@@WDWNT they were based on actual accents as the other person said your completely wrong, stop spreading misinformation if you dont know what your talking about.
The Jungle Cruise should have been converted to a Jungle Book ride years ago.
The lack of Mary Poppins IP at Disney, particularly Epcot is a travesty.
I thought for sure it was PC Dev that Eric had eluded to when he described the encounter on an earlier episode. If I see you in the park I am going to ask about it!
What episode? I watch PCdev 😭
@@user-fe8uq9zp2g it was one of the first Podcast they did. Eric mentioned being stared down while he was in a bar but didn't mention who it was, thus leading to the speculation of which potential Disney Vloggers could be viewed as confrontational.....I don't recall exactly which podcast it was.
They ruined the carrot cake cookie. Filling is gummy.
Light parade? When ?
I respectfully disagree with your opinion about the hanging man in Haunted Mansion. That could easily be changed without greatly impacting the ride. I personally think that the hanging man should and will be changed in the next 5 years.
Mickey pretzel
The cheese isn’t warm which really grinds my gears though
I miss REAL castle stage shows
Do you think the refurb at the resorts that miss the theming were chapek era and going forward Disney resorts will be back to the Disney resorts we like? And is the Poly tower going to be a chapek uninspired resort?
It’s going to be a little bland, there’s some cool design elements though
Splash Mountain wasn’t racist at all.
Many people (including black folks) have already explained why all of this is just absolutely misinformation and you all keep ignoring it.
Disney didn’t have to change BOTH rides in the US, they could’ve only changed the Disneyland one.
It’s super fair for fans of the ride to be upset by how Disney is treating the ride and the fans of it.
Instead of spreading misinformation, try to listen what the fans are trying to explain to you, fans who actually made research on the topics instead of just listening to chronically online people who can’t even google facts.
(sorry if my english is bad)
We don’t spread misinformation here, maybe the other channels you watch do
Yeah keep ignoring what everyone is kindly trying to say
It just shows how you literally don’t care to even try to listen 👍
@@WDWNTYou can deny facts all you want, it still doesn't make you right.
