@CreativeMusicians. THank you. Just figured it out. I was going out of the main out only on the left side and thought I was getting a mono signal but it was only sending one side of the stereo output. I am now going out the phones jack on the front and it sounds great. I'm sure once I get some nice monitors and am using both the L and R outputs on the main outs, it will sound right. Thanks again for the help.
ultra lite mk3 less then 2 years only and already death ...not powering on any more no solutions from bloggers ... not any answer from Motu customers service!! very nice! thanks!
@spiritmedicine42 This interface does sound better than built-in Mac sound card. What makes the Mac's perceived quality better is raised lows and Hi-mid's in its frequency response. You can twick the same to your own liking on MOTU by selecting the "Outputs" tab in the software mixer and adjusting the EQ on the channel that currently patched to your headphone output. (Could be master by default or something else if you changed it already).
Most interfaces have a playback/monitor knob that you use to blend the amount of playback of the backing track vs the volume of the microphone input. How do you control just the playback volume with cuemix?
wow thanks, so do you recommend me using this with a Netbook with a midi controller like bcf2000 for live mixing and have no latency or sluggishness issues found, since we are talking about netbooks? I know we need a decent computer for other interfaces out there (without the internal DSP's), you get my point??
Yes you can. By the way, there is no such thing in digital sound processing as real "zero latency" it is figurative speech. You will have here about 3ms, but you will not be able to hear it.
If you are going to use CueMix (provided by MOTU with device driver) as a mixer and not your DAW mixer, it will be just fine. I am not sure if you can link BCF2000 to a CueMix though. I haven't explore this option. Officially it designed to be controlled with Mackie Control Universal Pro automated worksurface.
Can you tell me if the headphones/monitor volume on this unit is loud enough to be useful. I've got a Focusrite Saffire 6 that is just TOO weak....by the time you trim the gain down to clean....you have no "head fill"...just weak...and uninspiring.
Hey! Thanks for the video. It was very useful. I was wondering... if I wanted to do live recordings with my band with this, connected via USB or FIREWIRE to my laptop, will I have all the separated tracks in my DAW or just the final MIX? Sorry if my question is stupid, I'm a beginner on this :)
Hello, it's a shure sm7b mic, I fixed the issue. I had the interface too close to the computer and the receiver. I moved it five feet and the static went away instantly.
Hello buddy, you have already started calling the board, but I have a simple doubt. All cards I had before this, had a rotating button where you chose between hearing the sound of what was already recorded, and what was being recorded into the microphone at the time (ie return) generally was written mixer (input / playback) I just bought this card, but I did not find this function, that is, I'm just listening to what is already on the computer in the headphones can not hear the input, where we change this? Thank you!
Great video thanks. I have an issue. I am an dance music producer using ableton live. When I switch from my built in phones out to the mk3 firewire out on my macbook it sound worse. I can't figure out how to EQ the output to the monitor (if thats even the prob). I am not sending anything through the mic inputs. Only through the firewire. Any ideas how to get a chunkier output with more mid range and low end? it sounds thin and it is supposed to sound better due to the sample rate and bit depth.
i have this soundcard for allmost 2 years now. Maybe i'm the only one but i never liked it, had LOTS of trouble with it. Now for about a month the signal is constantly going away, i got crackles in my speakers, etc... already a button broken too (and i'm allways taking very good care of my stuff, it has never left my bedroom). I think i'll just buy a cheaper m audio or something (for me the motu wasn't worth its price at all.. but it's just my experience with it, maybe others have more luck)
by chance i found this ....i'm resurrecting my motu ultralite as a direct out to add i/o via through it's direct outs and into my apollo 16...finally found a use for it ...but just like said here ...''too much for the small size'...totally unwieldy unit...but great once you've got it all set....
Hello, is it worth it to buy a used one now? i mean i was thinking to buy one? what about it's driver? does it work on the new mac os operating system?
Yes totally works! They have instructions on their website explaining how you need to enable support for unsigned drivers in your Mac's recovery mode. It's really a set and forget thing and works perfectly after that.
@@ezzel-bendary8762 no problem! I have the Ultralite as a backup/mobile interface and I'm using a 828x daily, which uses the same drivers. I'm on a 14" MacBook with M1 Pro chip on macOS Sonoma btw :)
I am not getting sound out of my headphones, but I get sound out to my monitors. I just purchased the unit. Do you think it might be something wrong with this unit. Just don't know what's wrong. Do you have any advice? I might be doing something wrong?
Koryna Ray I don't have the unit anymore so don't remember, but try the following: In CueMix go to "mixes" tab, under "focus" button, another button something like "main", drop-down. Select each one after another. You will see faders on all channels will go down, so bring them all up to unity. One of the selections should correspond to headphones. If this will not work, go to the "outputs" tab try enabling "monitor" button on corresponding channel, than also bring up the level on the knob in the right upper corner of the window "Monitor level", also can try changing presets under this knob. Hope this will help.
I use fl studio my headphones where working just fine but when i started my computer up it i accidently powerrd down my ultralite and a blue screen popped up.. Maybe i've reset the whole machine buy anyway now my headphones are not working anymore i'd tried everything from the windows sound configuration to the motu sound setup fl studio i just cant get it to work again.. Do you havr any idea
HEY IM HAVING TROUBLE !!!!! I PLUG MY HEAD PHONES INTO THE FRONT WERE IT SAYS PHONES BUT IM GETTING NO SOUND FROM MY HEADPHONES ONLY SOUND FROM MY MONITORS PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP!!!!!
same here any solutions since 6 months ago to now?? i see the signal coming out of the mic but no sound whatsoever i mean in the stand alone unit oh! it never reached pro tools so i m using the unit as standalone to check what could be the problem any ideas?? basically i don't hear any sound from the headphones no sound at all. any reply will be greatly appreciated
Find my other video "Motu ultralite mk3 - 3/4 (output mixes)" Look starting at 2:40. select "Phone 1-2" than adjust faders in that mix to desired levels, pretty much create separate mix.
Wonderful, wonderful job, guys. I truly appreciate you taking the time to detail all of this information.

@glieris It depends what you are going to use it for. Different gear for different purposes.

What kind of mic, cable, what inputs and outputs, what settings. You gave me too little to answer your question.

Hi, i have a question. Since the ultralite has a built in DSP (0 latency) can i control the CUEMIX with my Netbook as a controller WITH 0 LATENCY???

@shkcdp You can have all the separate tracks (8 at a time)
Is there a way to change the mic output Chanel from the hardware. Thanks
Look at two comments below and try this fix. If it doesn't work, I would recommend to contact MOTU.

did you work it out?
can i use this to connect my krome keyboard as a software instrument to my DAW on my mac?
Are the converters good?
They are decent. Not as good as Apogee, but good enough for the money. At least they do not sound dole as some cheapo cards.
