    Thanks Bryan! I enjoy product reviews like this. Keep 'em coming!
    I have a similar mattress from Exped. It easily fits in the frunk. It's perfect for a couple but IMO it's too much work to deflate and roll up for just one. So now I'm going with a _high quality_ one-person air mattress (Nemo Quasar) and a small rechargeable pump. It's fast and easy to inflate and deflate. It packs down to the size of a 1 liter bottle. It's comfortable enough, especially with a thin foam pad underneath it. For me, this is the sweet spot.

      Nice 👍🏻 I tend to keep mine setup for at least a few days at a time as I'm usually out camping for anywhere from 2-14 days at a time so it hasn't been too bad for putting it away although I do wish it was a bit more compact to store. As soon as I get back from trips I tend to transition the car back into a car and so being able to easily remove the camping gear is important. How's the comfort on the Nemo? I'm a side sleeper & always got terrible sleep with the TESMAT which I previously had and even after adding additional layers it still wasn't comfortable enough. This is the first one I feel like it's sleeping in a regular bed.

    • @BitJam
      @BitJam Рік тому +1

      @@bryanhauer It's good for an air mattress even for side sleepers, especially with a thin pad underneath, but it's still an air mattress. You won't think it's a real mattress.
      The different use cases are key. For a multi-night (3+) stay in one place then the more luxurious mattress is worth the extra effort. But for one or two nights I prefer the convenience and space savings of the air mattress.

    I’ve been using this mattress and LOVE it. 5” quality firm foam, then tap it with a moment of more air and it is PERFECT. You don’t bottom out. I agree it is very hard to ever get it back into the frunk. If you have two people it is possible, if one sits on it and the other straps it. Then I can get it back into the sub trunk. (afrer initially strapped the two of you have to tighten the roll on each side, and then tighten the strap every attempt, repeating multiple times). However, most of the time, I just do what you do, and leave it in the back. Also, I can leave my IceCo cooler on the mattress because there are no feet that can puncture through the comforter. Perfect for my iPad viewing before sleep.
    Some times I pack my back area with the seats down, and camping gear, then lay the semi inflated mattress on top, and it covers my stuff but I can still see we’ll, out the back, plus if people look inside, they don’t see all my gear. When I get to the camp site, I leave my air packed clothes under the hip, to feet area, and that levels me out. Just an idea, if you don’t pack clothes in just your luggage. I use small carry on for shoes, helmet, cooking gear in my luggage on the front passenger floor area. Lots of tricks, play with it and see how it works. Up north here, if not camping for a month or two, having the mattress in my condo is perfect for unexpected guests that are too long for the couch. Thanks Bryan, great video.

      Yep, it's been great! I was surprised at how comfortable it actually is. Glad you're enjoying it too. Nice tips too. Still hopeful a manufacturer will build one that's slightly sloped in the future. For rolling it up, I just bought some ratchet straps from Home Depot so going to try to use two and tighten it up a bit more. The straps that came with it are hard to get around without help like you said so these are bigger and can just ratchet it a bit.
      Appreciate the comment 😀

    I’ve seen this mattress reviewed recently and it looks like it’s the best one available for comfort and at a fair price. Probably feels like a real bed and the firmness can be adjusted with a puff of air. Nice. You might see if there’s some ratchet straps out there that could squeeze it a little smaller. But it wouldn’t be worth damaging the mattress either, so I don’t know. Nice quality video as always. Where ya going next?

    Really helpful review as I was thinking about buying this. I wouldn’t want them to make the upper half of the mattress thinner, then my shoulders would hit the bottom side sleeping. I rather have them make the lower part thicker or add a blow up insert to the bottom to level it out.

Besides how stiff it is when rolling it up, it's the best one I've used and has worked tremendously well for me.

    Does it stay up all night? How thick is it when blown up? Cost? Looks really good at first glance. We used a 6 inch thick memory foam fold up mattress that we got from Jerry a couple three years ago. This looks like it will take up a lot less room.

      It will stay full for weeks. It literally feels like a regular home mattress, but rolls away nicely when not in use and yes, it takes up much less room that that 6 inch fold up version. Unfortunately it doesn't matter. Tried every way. There's literally zero air left. It's the material used that is a bit thicker/rigid so it simply doesn't fold or roll as tight as one would hope. The tradeoff is because of the material used, it's a bit more comfortable, but as a result doesn't roll up great.

    Hi! Is the half mattress the "megaMat 10"? Would be nice if they have the same mattress for the Telsa just cut in half, including the wider part on top for one side

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer Рік тому +1

      Correct. Only consideration is the length as the MegaMat 10 comes in 72" and 77". The MegaMat Auto is around 76" long so guess that part just depends on your height. I too wish they would just make a MegaMat Auto Single version as having the cutout of the car provides a bit more room and it should be interchangeable between which side you want so you could flip it to be on the other side. I plan to talk to them soon so will bring that to their attention.

      @traderjoe477 Рік тому +1

      @@bryanhauer Hi Bryan, thanks for answering! That's awesome that you have a chance to talk to them. I think the "half" version could be a really good marked for them. Like you mentioned in your video, you could store a box, jackery or other stuff next to it. I don't know the exact size on the Tesla seats but it would be awesome if you only have to flip down one seat, that would give you so much more options for a lot of things. E.g. the fridge could be behind the seat and still accessible at all the time. Or you could use the one back seat to get in the car when it rains and not getting your bed dirty. So many more options. But like I said, don't know if that would even work with the seats. I am pretty excited to get my Tesla Model Y. Should get it in the next 6 weeks :)

      Appreciate the suggestion, but that doesn't make any difference. There's zero air inside. I've tried plenty of ways off camera, on a living room floor doing exactly as you described. There's no air inside. It's the type of material they use which has two results... it's extremely comfortable as a bed because of the material used, but it also doesn't roll up easily due to that. ok Tesla time to update the Model Y with VTL (Vehicle to Load) so that we do not need to bring an external power source when we have 74KWH battery on the bottom of the floor, that is what I'l miss on my Hyundai Ioniq 5 when I sell it for a Model Y! I know that the last time I checked Monroe Live review of the Model Y teardown the inverter had bi-directional ICC's

    Try running the vacuum pump while you roll it up.

      Thanks although I think it would fall off, but it’s not the air left inside as there wasn’t any, it’s more the stiffness that makes it a bit difficult to roll tight. Still the best mattress I’ve used, but just wish it was a bit easier to stow away. Appreciate you watching & for the suggestion 😀

      @@bryanhauer Memory foam works by becoming soft enough to mould around a person or body shape. This happens when the high-density, low-resilience polyurethane foam reacts to body heat.
      You might try rolling it up on a warm day compared to a cold day or even bring it indoors. I still think memory foam hast to have air within it. Otherwise that’s it expands it would create a vacuum - no I don’t think so.
      What do you think now ? Are you willing to try it in a warm house or out in the sun?

      @@BrooklineElectric You should be able to click the 3 little dots next to your comment to edit. As for the mattress... it was about 80º when I filmed this and have tried it in the house too. It's not bad so I don't mind how it rolls up now, but just wanted everyone to know it might be a bit stiff so may not fit in the sub-trunk. Hopefully it loosens up a bit with use too. Appreciate the comment.

      I would think if you left the two upper ports opened as you rolled it up, that would help in pushing more air out as you roll it up. Great video though!

    Is it really flat like a bed?

      It is. Doesn’t feel like an air mattress. More like a regular mattress. I do have a comparison review coming up between it and the Exped version if you’re interested. Should be out within a couple weeks.

    I don't know how y'all can sleep on an incline, it bothers the crap out of me and all I do is toss and turn all night.

      I typically park in a way where the front of the car is slightly lower evening it out or if camping will use parking blocks to do this. One suggestion I had in the video for companies that make mattresses is to make the top part thinner so it evens things out as it hits the slight slope. Hopefully more do that going forward. I've been able to pretty much eliminate the problem through strategic parking, but I hear ya. Another option is to use thick workout mats or some type of padding on the lower half to even it out.

      @@bryanhauer haha funny enough I've used workout mats for this, and yes I am surprised no one has created a tapered mattress to conveniently deal with this issue, hopefully someone will step up!
